We Be Trippin': The Great DIS-nee Road Trip

If I go, I might get the fleagles kicked out of their own house! Wouldn't want that!

Let's don't cause too much of a riot!!! I'd hate for the Fleagle's neighbors to have to call these guys. The back of that van doesn't look too comfortable. :scared1:

Ok girls....looks like MadBrad is out too. Just like I said about CircusGirl...no funny business.

Wanna paint our nails?

ToTheSea & Cathie,

Good-night

See you in the morning!

Good Morning Everyone....enjoy the sunrise in Virginia Beach....our destination today for a quick visit.

Anyone hungry? We’ve done a lot so far on our trip, but we’re not quite done yet. Just a little bit more, I promise!
Let's get some Vanilla Caramel Coffee, some juice, and another Virginia famous food. I made some Ham Biscuits from our famous Virginian Smithfield Ham. Yum!

As we begin the last day of our trip here, there are just a few sights that you just have to see. Our area is a LARGE military community. From Langley Air Force base, Fort Eustis, NASA, Fort Monroe, Norfolk Naval Base, Little Creek Amphibious Base, Fort Story, Naval Weapons Station, Oceana..... clearly a very large military area. If you have never seen a fleet of navy ships, you’ve missed quite an impressive sight!

As we head to Virginia beach we must go over the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel....this is the view of the Naval Base in the distance. It's hard to see in this picture, but in real life it is awesome! Just awesome to see such power in the water!

Another impressive sight is how and where these ships are built. Right here.....

Our Newport News, Va., shipyard is the nation's sole designer, builder and refueler of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and one of only two companies capable of designing and building nuclear-powered submarines. The shipyard also provides services for a wide array of naval and commercial vessels.

The sound of our air force’s F22 Raptors patrolling overhead are a common daily sound...and a constant reminder of how incredible this country is!

Now I must show you where I grew up....Virginia Beach, Virginia!

Born and raised here and it’s just about 40 minutes from where we currently live. My parents brought me home from the hospital when I was born to the very same home that I left the day I got married. With such a large military population around here very few people around here can say that. Eric was born in Omaha, lived in Spain, Germany, and California before moving to Virginia when he was only 10! That’s typical for “military brats” but for me I am Virginia born and bred!

Virginia Beach Virginia is a premier East Coast vacation spot and offers visitors the opportunity to soak in the sweet Southern sunshine and play in the fantastic surf. Virginia Beach tourism caters to families, couples, groups and even has something to offer the lone visitor. The city of Virginia Beach Virginia is located in the southeastern region of Hampton Roads, bordered on the south by North Carolina, the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the north by the Chesapeake Bay. Virginia Beach Virginia is the largest city in the state of Virginia.

Another place I frequented when I was growing up was Mount Trashmore. Ever heard of it. Well it is literally a mountain/park built on a mound of trash!

World-renowned Mount Trashmore Park is 165 acres, 60 feet high, over 800 feet long, and was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil. Recognized for its environmental feat, the park features the Water Wise demonstration garden that boasts xeriscaping where you can learn how to create a beautiful garden with minimal water requirements.

This is perhaps the best viewing area for the 4th of July fireworks display! Incredible!

Ok friends...last stop is very special to me!

My childhood home was just one block from the Chesapeake Bay. It was almost daily (in the summer) that I would walk down my street, walk over the sand dunes, and hang out on Bay Lake Beach which was a "private" part of the Cheasapeake Bay Beach for our neighborhood.

From there I could see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (CBBT) is a 23 mile (37 km) long facility that connects Delmarva Peninsula with southeastern Virginia. It crosses the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and connects the independent cities of Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia to Cape Charles in Northampton County along with the rest of the eastern shore of Virginia. It is also one of the 7 Engineering Wonders Of The World!
