Hi All,

My DH and I are thinking of taking his daughter for her first trip to DL- due to not wanting to take her out of school for more than 2 days and having to stay low budget due to Christmas, wedding etc, we were thinking of going Friday Jan 28th (lots of cheap hotel prices), being there saturday, sunday, and part of monday (6pm evening flight)

Hubby and I have been before so are familiar with the rides, layout.

We do plan on returning again in the next few years (meeting her cousins there who are from San Bay area)

So, all you experts,

SD is 6.5- fairly tall so should be able to ride most of the rides...do you think this is a good age for a first trip or should we wait a year or two and go with her cousins ? Do you think kids have more fun with other kids or ??

 ;) :flower3:

You can check ride heights on the www.disneyland.com .

I'd take her now. Keep in mind that most rides only require 40" in height. GRR needs 42, Indy and Screemin 46 or 48. There are a lot of attractions so only missing a couple wouldn't matter. But 40 is the cutoff for lots of rides.

You might consider if ther cousins fit 40". First trip won't matter if the cousins are there or not. I'd say firt trip is great at 4 or 5, at 7 or 8 gets a little worse for kids as they stop to believe. I wouldn't delay.

2.5 days should be long enough right?

I know I was reading Hydroguy's (I think that is his name) guides and one of his tips was to avoid weekends? Are they really that much more crowded on weekends even in January/February?

The other time we were thinking was early may? Prices seem to be pretty cheap then as well- I know the weather is probably better, but do the crowds go up?

Thanks so much!:thumbsup2

Possibly. Again this depends on ride hieght minimums. If you skip Indy and Screemin it could save a couple hours of lines. If you want to see WoC, F! and the fireworks all on seperate nights than maybe not. The main dilemma is if that does or doesn't include weekends. If it does you may want to stretch it.

As I suggested above yes, it makes a big difference.

The weather should be warmer and drier in may. In fact I think it is a good time to go out of the whole year. Jan/Feb has lots of rehabs going on. May has some but less. Hours are shorter in the winter than spring too, but longer on weekends than weekdays.

The main thing going on in may this year for better or worse is Start Tours will reopen and Little Mermaid will be opening. This may be good, but will bring in more crowds. The exact date of this is unknown.
