DH and I promise to never leave the house again...can I tell you a list of the bad things that have happened around us in the last 13 mos.

8/1/03 - my DB was hit by a drunk driver, hit & run, nearly killed, learned to walk again....doing great, but not yet back to work.
10/1/03....DGM has open heart surgery and major complications afterwards. A 1 week visit to our house (we are near one of the best heart surgeons in state) turns into 1 mo plus.....altho she almost died several times, she is healthy again.
4/04 - we have to put our dog down
6/04 DH witnesses motorcycle accident on way home from FL from training....biker ends up okay
7/04 DH comes to gym with me. 68 yo man has coronary and DH administers CPR, but poor man dies.
8/30/04 I make last minute change in my route home and witness a college student jogging get run over by a truck. As this was just last night...I dont know his status

What is so wierd is that in many of these there were last minute decisions/actions that we took. My brother's accident, I saw the 11 pm news on 7/31...it showed a huge fire in his town, I thought, gee, I am glad he is not working tonight (had had appendix out 3 weeks prior), so he is safe. Turned out he went into fire by chance, and on way home was hit on his motorcycle.

DH only saw the 6/04 accident because he insanely decided to drive from Atlanta to Worcester, MA straight through. He was first on scene and able to call 911.

At the gym....it suddenly was raining in the am, so DH made last minute decision to come with me v. golfing.

and last night....I only went that way because a city cop was on my butt all the way the other way and it was driving me nuts.

I promise never to leave the house again! :(

Just keep telling your self, it will get better.

Sorry to hear about your dh medical problems. I use to drive a van that took people such as your dh to drs visits, rehab ect. Didn't realize until then how many people were seriously hurt from driving accidents. Thing is you don't see them out in public so you really have no idea to the extent people are suffering.

We had a bad year in 99/00. My dh had a heart attact and actually died in the er. They were able to revive him. He was flown to a better medical facillity and had surgery. Then 3 months later we found he had bladder cancer. That was very dangerous not only because of the cancer but because of his heart. The dr. said he was cancer free after surgery only to return a few months later. Another surgery follows. Plus he had treatments through all of this also.

Go to show life can throw you curve balls.

Up until this dh had never really been to the dr. before.

Thank you. It actually was my brother in the accident last August 2003. I know, there are far more accidents than you realize.

A sad update is that this poor boy died last night. Only a college sophmore and only a week into the school year. I feel so bad for his family and friends.
