We are stunned by the compassion that MS has shown us!

I'm sorry to hear of your DH's health issues and hope he'll be fully recovered soon. So glad to hear that MS was able to add some pixie dust during a stressful time.

We were in a similar situation in April. We were down at WDW with our DS, DDiL, and DGS (8 months old - 1st trip) and had just checked into a 2 bdrm. at AKV after 3 days at BLT when we got word that our other DGS (3 months old at the time) was just diagnosed with eye cancer. We decided we needed to be home to support our DD and her family, so made an emergency flight home. When we got home, my DH called MS and explained our situation. We weren't expecting them to put the 2 days of missed points back into our account, but they did. MS said it was up to each individual resort to decide what to do with the points and AKV went above and beyond, for which we were grateful. Our DGS, after 3+ months of chemo, is doing very well and his tumors are dead with no new ones! We were able to bank the unused points into the 2011 use year and hopefully will be able to book a 2 bdrm at Aulani for April to celebrate with a family trip! :goodvibes

I'm glad it worked out for you and your family and that you already scheduled your holiday vacation. I hope your husband continues to get better and the learning curve on his food triggers is short. That kind of learn as you go cannot be fun.

And may your next vacation be full of pixiedust:!

Thanks so very much!

I am so glad to hear that your grandson is doing well! I have said prayers that he enjoys good health! I am also very happy to hear that MS helped you during a most difficult family time. They really are wonderful for doing that for so many of us.

Thanks for your well wishes, Tiger :)

Wishing your husband much better days ahead. After these past few weeks of stress and worry I'm so glad you were able to plan another trip over the holidays! :)

Incidentally, if anyone is wondering, we did inquire about Travelex Insurance months ago, but hubby has pre-existing conditions, so they said it wouldn't be valid.

Tiger, let me add my voice to everybody who expressed hope and good wishes to your family.

I also want to say to all interested that when I looked into the insurance regarding pre-existing conditions, it was my understanding that they waived the pre-existing conditions exclusion if you bought the insurance at the same time you paid your annual dues. If that's the case, it's a pretty good deal to cover all of your point travel for the year without excluding pre-existing conditions (which my kids have, and now your husband has). I think I'm going to buy it next year.

Wishing you all the best,
Meghan

Regarding pre-existing conditions, this is my understanding also, so we bought the insurance for our 2011 and 2012 points. Since we always fly and have a lot of points, the insurance cost was a real bargain for covering airfare.
OP, I am so pleased to hear that MS was compassionate at a time when you really needed it. My DH has multiple health issues and we have had to cancel several times. When my husband's cancer recurred, an MS CM was so kind in helping us reschedule and having that trip to anticipate was a great emotional boost for both DH and me, so I understand where you are at. DVC isn't really ideal for those of us who have health issues that can flare up at any time, but helpful folks at MS and good insurance makes DVC doable.
Here's to a super magical trip for you next time! :goodvibes

Thanks. I am aware of this, but our dues are paid by automatic credit card, and so didn't realize this until after they were paid. I think for next year, we should be good as I am now aware of it. :)

Thanks! I hope your husband is doing well these days, and that you are enjoying vacation time with him. My hubby has had 2 good days in a row, so that is a blessing. Kids are doing ok, despite knowing they were supposed to be in WDW. We are hanging in, as there are much worst things in the world than his condition and not being able to go to WDW when we wanted.

Thanks for the continued blessings from all, Tiger

Amazing, one minute you're counting down the days to leave and then boom, everything changes!

I have 2 friends who have Crohns disease and they've learned over the years to manage it well! Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your husband. It's unfortunate that his hillness must be accompanied by the pangs of guilt for "ruining" everyones vacation, but that's the beauty of DVC, there will be other vacations! MS did the right thing in not adding to your burden, it's nice to hear!

Prayers and best of luck in the days ahead!
