- you mentioned the Coral Reef & wonder if you can give any more information.
We have booked Candlelight Processional package for December with this restaurant and recently read a terrible review that kinda put me off. I was looking forward to going - can you help?
Hi Mrs D
We had also heard some terrible reviews which put me off initially, but the lure of the surroundings made me decide to decide for myself.
The restaurant was very nicely done and it was splendid to be able to watch the fishes go by. We were not seated very close to the tank but there is a "tiered" seating arrangement so we still had a nice view.
There were some little touches that just all came together to make us feel quite pampered here; for example there were lovely blue glasses instead of the usual WDW standard ones; DDs got a little plastic dolphin who dangled off the sides of their cup, "proper" napkins, and exceptional service.
To eat we had:
Shrimp Cocktail - served with spicy cocktail sauce $9.99 Absolutely lovely, massive shrimps with a nice presentation and lovely sauce
Creamy Lobster Soup - chervil, brandy $6.99This was lovely and creamy with a super consistency and deliciously subtle but flavoursome taste. The lobster really came through.
Barbecued Salmon Sandwich - seared salmon filet served on a multi-grain bread, with housemade barbecue sauce and pepper jack cheese $15.99 Very nice. The salmon was undercooked for my taste, and I found the strange fries that went with it a bit odd (they were the most thin fries you have ever seen)
Blackened Catfish - served over pepper jack cheese grits, topped with smoked tomato compote, and drizzled with a balsamic glaze $16.99 DH reports that the catfish was perfectly cooked and the combination of textures and flavours worked really well. He says it wasn;t what he was expecting, but very good indeed.
The Chocolate Wave - Warm dark chocolate with a white chocolate Grand Marnier center with chocolate ganache and white chocolate ice cream $7.99
California Gold (Tribute to the Happiest Celebration on Earth!) - California Orange Pudding surrounded by vanilla sponge cake topped with whipped cream and orange zest $7.99
Both to die for. I'm not a pudding person really but they were both truly delicious!
DDs had a most wonderful "Make your own Sundae" which I will post some photos of when I get round to uploading them

Did you also notice the distinct lack of rain in the 4 weeks we were there we only had about 5 days rain in total and only 2 of them affected us
Hi Jakki
Yes we did! I think it all got saved up for after you left though

The first 11 days we had virtually none (just one afternoon for an hour), but our last 9 days there was a lot of rain, usually just drizzling but a few Florida thunderstorms! I always think it's a bonus when any day involves no rain in August
I hope you had as lovely a time as we did
