We are getting married next week while in Orlando visiting WDW. just wondering if Disney does anything for newlyweds? and if they do, how does one go about getting some perks?

You should check out the Wedding and honeymoon forum. One tip is to get a pin at guest relations that says just married. They give them out for free. Wear it and you may get some surprises while you are there. Make sure when making dinner reservations you tell them its your honeymoon.

You do realize that you just told everyone that you're pregnant, right? ;)

The Mickey and Minne wedding ears are a MUST HAVe - they are everywhere in the parks. If you are staying at a resort onsite, let them know it is your honeymoon - they can give you the newlywed pins and they will most likely leave some surprises for you in your room. To be honest, you see newlyweds all over the parks! I would also decorate my resort door and leave an eraseable board for well wishers.

My husband and I had our honeymoon at WDW last August...we bought the wedding ears, but it was just too hot to wear them. We got the "just married" buttons at Guest relations and wore those the whole time. every five feet we heard "CONGRATULATIONS"...it was great! We got fast passes a TON of times...but mostly people just congratulated us, which was great. We DID get to be Grand Marshals in the Disney Dreams Come True parade...now THAT was Pixie Dust!!! You never know what can happen!!!

WDW is a great place to honeymoon! Have a magical time!!!

Actually, the Minnie Wedding ears are pretty much everywere, but the top hat w/Mickey ears are harder to find. They should be at the Hat Emporium and at one of the stores in Downtown Dinsey. You can also get them online before you leave. Definatly let them know that it's you honeymoon when you make all your reservations, it never hurts to let them know. Have a great time and congrates.!!!!!!

Technically, a "shotgun" wedding is one where the bride is pregnant and the groom does NOT want to get married. The expression comes from the practice of the bride's father holding a shotgun on the groom so that he can't head for the hills before the vows have been safely said. It's a VERY rare bride that would actually want to admit to having a shotgun wedding.

What you did was an elopement, generally a much happier occasion.

Congratulations! :thumbsup2

DH and I honeymooned in Disney 3 years ago and we bought the ears in DTD our first night there. We didn't wear them every day but the days we did...whoa! We got some awesome perks! First day in MK, cast member at entrance told us to make a reservation for dinner at Cinderella's Castle (that was before it became all-u-can eat dining). She said they would "fit us in."
It was awesome! Table was decorated with confetti, our food order was pushed ahead of everyone elses and the best part....they came out with a box and said it was a wedding gift from the Castle. They were beautiful champagne flutes with "Cinderella's Royal Table" on them. Awesome! We received lots more perks including fast passes and front row seats at Beauty and the Beast show, where we were seranaded by their pre-show quartet. They also gave us a free CD.
Get the ears, you will love it!
