So my best friend planned on taking a trip with her daughter to wdw this summer. Generous friend that I am, I offered to get her room for her. Last minute she has to bale and I am stuck with 70 points in holding. What to do... Today I found 3 nights from Thursday of this week until sunday in a 1 bedroom value at Jambo House for exactly 70 points! I grabbed it because dh is taking off work anyway. I check with our local airport and found great fares for those dates, called my mom and asked her to babysit, bought the tickets. We will be at our favorite resort in less than 2 days! I have been wanting to do a little trip without the kids for years but have always felt to guilty and chickened out. I can't believe we are going to do it and I don't feel guilty at all! We took them in July and the teens practically stayed in the room all trip. The youngest will be back for cheer this spring. We are going to relax and enjoy a stress free trip, childless trip.pixiedust:

My wife and I regularly attended WDW before we had kids (and, of course, we still do). Our recommendation? Book a date at the Brown Derby. Order the amazing Cobb salad (the real thing, much different than is served at other restaurants) and end with grapefruit cake. It's a meal for grownups and a meal to remember.

Yes, I love the Cobb salad, too!

Enjoy your special trip!!

How fantastic! We love our adults only trip we take once a year. It's so nice to get away and pretend you're not a parent for a few days. Enjoy your trip.

I agree, except ixnay the cobb & the grapefruit cake, substitute Blue Cheese Mushroom Napoleon and Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower! I've re-fallen in love with the Brown Derby!

Also, cocktails and appetizers or dinner at Todd English's Blue Zoo at the Dolphin! Nice vibe, great cocktails, excellent food.

Jiko at AKV, superb wine list, beautiful venue and excellent food!

My son's 17 now, and as we always bring a few of his friends along, they frequently venture on their own! When he head off to college, there will be more adult only trips!

Enjoy yourselves, no guilt!

Hi everyone! I would definitely go to Brown Derby but this is a cheap last minute trip so no parks (maybe mvmcp shhh don't tell hubby). We plan on Jiko, Sanaa and Grand Florida Cafe for their incredible shrimp 'n' grits! Possibly Raglan Road. We are going to tour holiday decor at the resorts and really enjoy AKL since we have no where to rush off to. We also plan on catching a movie or two at the AMC in DTD. I am beside myself! Hopefully this will be an annual thing.:thumbsup2.

We love the resort-centered trips :) what fun!!! I am still trying to get the nerve up to go to star wars weekend and leave our then-nearly 2 yr olds with grandma

Hi all! This trip is wonderful so far. We got to the resort before noon from Magical Express. Our room was ready right away. We then took our bags up and went to The Mara for a light lunch. Afterward we just relaxed at the resort until dinner time at Sanaa. We walked in and had a short wait. Dinner was great. We had the bread Service. Dh had the lamb and I had the fish of the day. Excellent. Gorgeous. I'll update a little later.

It was wonderful and we plan on doing it again! When we arrived at Jambo the Christmas decorations weren't up but they went up that night. It was fantastic to see the transformation the next morning. We took tons of pics. We decided to catch Thor at AMC downtown Disney. That was fun though the lobby could definitely be refreshed and the menu is simple but that was fine by us. We had reservations at Grand Floridian Cafe. We toured the Villas and caught bad case of add-on-itis. We then went over to the Grand and took tons of pics while we waited for our reservation. The Shrimp 'n' Grits were great and the service was prompt. We had reservations at 5:00pm and were in front of the castle before the Castle light ceremony at 6:15pm. Of course we went to MVMCP. The weather could not have been more perfect. The next day was our last.

We returned to the AMC where we saw Hunger Games. The service was awful this time so I would only recommend going during weekday afternoons or when the theater is most likely to be half full or less. That evening we had dinner at Jiko and it was wonderful. We really had a chance to really appreciate the beauty of our surroundings this trip and just take it all in. We didn't even use the dining plan just our DVC discount. I'm so excited that we plan to do this every year.pixiedust:
