Dh and I are leaving for Hilton Head in the morning!:drive:

Brrrrrr!

I hope to give everyone a live report with pictures!

I doubt that we will spend any time on the beach:beach: or even in a boat. :boat:

We are looking forward to some hot cider though! :coffee:

OK, we are leaving as soon as I turn off the computer.

I know its late, but I got home from work at Midnight last night!

Thanks for the kind comments. I will post later.

vbarry - I bet HHI will be a lot warmer in August. :beach:

:drive:

Have fun...HHI is surely warmer in August, but with a termperature of -8 right now in Ohio, I'd take HHI in a heart beat.

I cant wait to see pictures - have fun!

Have fun, stay warm and watch out for sidewalks closing suddenly as they work on painting/re-siding the villas. I think that they are working their way through all of them, starting with those closest to the pool area. By the time you get there (you will probably be there when you read this, lol!) maybe they will have finished with the pool area itself. :cheer2: Enjoy the cider!:coffee:

Just wanted to add that Carol (the CM that took us on the resort tour) said the paint colors will more closely reflect the original colors of the resort - they are painting the villas a lighter shade, maybe you can describe the color, Mickey's Apprentice. Carol described it as a kind of yellow with green in it, but I am not sure I'd say yellow - maybe a gray with some green tones???

Enjoy that apple cider! I just love curling up in Big Murgie's Den with some warm apple cider and a fire in the fire place, while I read the Island Packet. Somehow it's always cold when we're at HHI. I'll be looking forward to your live reports and pictures.

Hope you had a safe drive, got all checked in & settled, and are out enjoying a great meal :goodvibes Maybe some lobster mac & cheese at Frankie Bones :cloud9:

Hey guys:

We got to HHI and settled into our room at 6:40pm. There were a lot of people checking in to the resort. We are in a 2 bdrm. MIL backed out from coming yesterday, so it is just Dh and myself.

The campfire started at 7pm, but since it was 35 degrees, we decided to skip it and find supper.

The nice CM at check-in, Lindsay, suggested either Marley's or the Crazy Crab for a good seafood dinner. We decided to go back to the Crazy Crab because we had seen it on the way in to the resort. The seafood was really good. I ordered the broiled seafood platter, and I particularly liked the crab cake. Keep in mind I have absolutely no idea what is considered a good crab cake. This Southern girl thought it was really good though.

As for the room, we are in building 15. It overlooks the boardwalk that goes to the pool and community hall. As for now the room seems like it is in good shape overall. The dining table is pretty scratched. Our biggest complaint was that our room was 52 degrees when we arrived. We made sure to crank it up before we went out. Its beginning to be cozy now and is up to 70 degrees. For some reason, I thought the 2bdrms at HH would be larger. I don't know what I was expecting.

We picked up a couple of things at Publix and have settled in for the night. We are planning on attending the Beach Nature Walk in the morning and then the Ghosts and Legends of the Low Country presentation by B'lou Crabbe tomorrow night. We'll probably go to Savannah on Sunday.

Btw, the cider was warm and tasty!

Have fun on the beach walk. We did that with Sandy last year and our girls (6 and 3) had a great time. They still each have big bag of sea shells from that walk.

SorcererMickey is there now doing a Live cam from the room. :cool1:

B'Lou Crabbe is half the reason we love going to HH. He does magic, stories, banjo, balloon animals....he's a keeper! I hope Shadow is still chugging along.

We used to go to HH a lot in the off season when we lived in Charleston - and it was always cold until our check out day. It never failed that check out was sunny and 80 degrees, when the rest of the week was rainy and 50...I'd take rainy and 50 right now as it is in the negatives in Ohio....

Have a great time! It's been about 18 months since we've been there and I doubt we'll get back for about 2 years...HH withdrawal!

Dh went on the beach walk this morning. I stayed behind because I'm actually a little under the weather. Walking around in 30 degree weather for a couple of hours didn't seem like the ideal thing for me to do.

Anyway, Dh enjoyed it. He said it was really informative and FUN! They didn't take the full 2 1/2 hours. Imagine that. Ha ha. The guide took them to the beach on the sound. You could see other islands from there. He didn't take any pictures!

The marsh is beautiful. Our room looks freshly painted, and the carpeting and appliances look really good. The furniture is a little scratched, but its not bad.

The wall color is a medium beige that is almost yellow with a green tint, and maybe a shade of gray. It is very nice and crisp. Dh took a picture of the outside of the buildings and will post later. (Sorry I thought you were interested in the inside of the building.)

Dh was thrilled to see the flat screen Tv! Has that been reported? Flat screens at HHI. Other than that, the floors are cold!! I mean they are really cold. We put our pool towels on the floors in the bathroom to make it better. Last night it was like walking on ice cubes.

We are heading out now.

(We will try to post pictures when we come back tonight!!)

I hope you're feeling better, now. But at least you're at a perfect place to recuperate.
Wow! The flat screen TVs must be a new addition. We were there at Thanksgiving and didn't have them. I wonder if they're only in the 2 BRs, though. I hope not. Is the flat screen TV in the LR or MBR?
Has there been any sign of Shadow? We didn't see her at Thanksgiving, and she's usually around on the Sunday before to greet guests. And there was no meet and greet with Shadow.

We had a flat screen in the living room of our 2BR in October. I think the Br's had regular tv's but the living room was a flat screen.

Rats! It sounds like the flat screens are indeed only in the 2 BRs. Thanks for the quick reply though.

We had regular tv's in our grand villa this month. . . no flat screen there, yet:happytv:
