We apparently waited too long to book onsite...

We are going on a Disney cruise at the end of April. We were hoping to go to Universal for 2 days before the cruise (April 22 Sun-April 23 Mon). The only onsite room I can find is the kids suite at HRH for $600+ (taxes included). That is more than we are willing to spend.

We have a condo for the week but wanted to stay 1 night at Universal to get the early morning entrance and express passes.

Now, since the hotels are mostly booked, are the parks going to be crowded? I haven't found a good crowd predictor for Universal (like the ones for Disney).

I am wondering if we should go to Universal in the middle of the week without staying onsite. What are the chances of a regular room opening up ($400 or less)?

We have been so busy planning other aspects of this trip, that we forgot about the 1 night onsite hotel :headache:

You can get the pool view that Sunday for $319. Also if you can stay during the week....you don't need to check out of your combo, just pack an overnight bag...for $254 at the RPR. If your intent on staying that Sunday just check daily and one may open up :)

Orlandoinformer.com has a crowd calendar( doesn't look bad for those dates). That said, if Disney is Busy,Universal usually is too.

THANK YOU!!!! That room was not available when I was looking yesterday and so glad it opened up. We are booked :)

I am not picky about which of 3 Universal hotels we stay at or the type of room...

We have our condo Monday to Monday, so that is why I was hoping to stay at Universal Sunday to Monday. I am glad it worked out.

damo-I thought Spring Break was over the last week of April?? Easter is early April this year & I think March/early April is Spring Break season.

No problem! Also, check your rate once a week. Rooms open up because people cancel. All you have to do is call the hotel and have them change your room or rate. I think some places in the US have Spring Break and Easter Break....which is probably why the hotel is staying busy till the end of April. Most importantly.....have fun!

Parks are open until 8 on those days you will be there. That means they are still expecting higher crowds---hence why you had a tough time getting a room. The very last week, the hours are back down. April seems to be high, no matter when spring break is. Different areas seem to get their breaks at different times and my families extend that time.
