We’ve Arrived at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

looks terrible everything about it.

That entertainment was absolute amateur hour and unprofessional for Disney. I’ve seen great bohemian music and entertainment it was just bad, the island looks lifeless and looks devoid of any Disney magic or touches; it needs some absolute more Disney magic or something unique to pull you in.

This is what I was thinking - I’m quite happy to walk around Europe. Less so in 90 degrees for 15 mins flat (plus the wait for the tram, however long that will be) in clothes designed for the beach, not walking around in.
Forgot to mention that walking in flip-flops or crocs is significantly more challenging than walking in a solid pair of sneakers (especially for those of us who need some sort of orthotics).

I'm surprised at the people complaining about the walk. If you don't have a mobility issue are you really not capable of walking for 10 minutes?
Just say excuse me and walk around. People make a big deal out of the every little stupid thing. You would think people have never walked in the heat for 10 minutes or in a crowd. It's ten minutes out your life people. You'll be OK.

If you can't walk for 10 minutes. Don't ever book a European cruise.

It’s not a big deal for me other than annoying, but I can totally get here why it is a big deal for some. As far as saying people complain about every little thing, I am sure everyone on this board has complained about something that other could care less about. People don’t like the Wish not having a running/walking track. On the flip side, the reply could be “You would think people can’t live without a walking track on a 3 day cruise. You’ll be OK”. The walking track missing is a deal breaker for some, this may be a deal breaker for others (or at least turn it into a day on the ship).

It just seems poor planning on Disneys part to not have figured out transportation given they pride themselves on being a family vacation cruise line (so lots of little kids and lots of multigenerational families).

Did anyone see about the firsts guests to the "island" well cay not being on a Disney cruise. They rented a boat and sailed over and welcomed with open arms.

apparently due to it being a public beach people have access who are not guests. Not sure if they can use the facilities but can walk around. Not sure how true or if this has been confirmed yet.

Our September Cruise is a 3 night to LP and Nassau.... on the Magic...

If it were CC and Nassau I don't think we'd even get off the ship... All our other 3 days had been sea days and CC, have no interest in going to Nassau, but will probably explore the new island.

The new “island” looks like a flop. It’s a beautiful beach and design but the logistics (long, ugly walk plus tram) and lack of amenities are disappointing. I saw a very small water play area (2? Small water slides and a tiny splash pad) and nothing else for kids. We live near a beach so a beach alone doesn’t make me want to book a trip. You can do a cheap beach break excursion at most Caribbean ports that looks about the same as this. I wish they went big like coco cay or at least attempted to add some interesting elements.

I have not been super thrilled from the beginning, but hopefully they add more like they did to castaway cay. We really loved coco cay when we did RCI last year.

I think the long pier is really jarring.

It just doesn’t seem welcoming or “Disney” at all. Seems like they could have spruced it up in some way … at least thrown in a few benches since they don’t have a tram.

But, really, it just seems odd to me that the pier isn’t little wider with a walk lane and a tram lane.

I’m laughing about people declaring this a flop after only having guests one day. Disney people, never change. :D
Right!?! That made me literally LOL. Never a lack of complaining about new things!

I think it looks beautiful and hopefully can visit sometime, but we don’t love being hot. So we will wait until we can do a winter/early spring sailing - those are warm enough for us coming from Minnesota!

I am glad that it is not like Perfect Day at Coco Cay (TM). I think Disney made a courageous decision to keep it as a place to enjoy nature and relax with your family.

I am curious if they increased the cabana count compared to Castaway, as that island was built for 2,500 person ships....
Generally they are discouraged on the ships due to the narrow hallways and lack of storage. Tons of people bring them which is fine, but there’s a whole bubble of the 3-5 year old group who don’t really need them on the ship so they are left at home. Guests services does have a few that people can borrow for port days.

I saw this! Reports are that local visitors were allowed to use the amenities. I see a market for this, but maybe its a small one.

Yes, Disney built the long pier to avoid tendering.

No, there aren't trams running on the pier. There are golf carts for those who need them and everyone else can walk. It's not that far. I think people are making a big stink about a minor inconvenience.

Try telling that to a hungry and tired 7 year old that is ready to get back on the ship. At the peak of summer you're talking about walking on concrete in the Bahamas with no shade. Sounds awful

Thanks for the pictures @WebmasterCorey. Did you see any areas where there were more than 2 shaded loungers together? I do not see that in your images.

From the video I posted a link to by Views and Queues. Looks like there is 9:50ish mark in the video. Unless you mean nothing else than these chairs? Not sure haven't been there and randomly saw the videos on YouTube.
