I’ll chime in with my story also.
We got back from our cruise, and collected our luggage, to find our garment bag was missing. We waited until everyone was off the ship, and sure enough, there was one piece left, unclaimed, that looked a lot like our bag.
The bag had a tag on it with a phone number. The nice lady working there that was helping us called the number (apparently they can use their cell phones in the port terminal). A man answered, and she told them what happened. He said, “I don’t know why you’re bothering me. We didn’t take anyone else’s bag.” Then he hung up.
A few minutes later, this genius finally realized the port employee got his number somehow, and called back. Sure enough, they took the wrong bag. The port employee told him she’d make arrangements with port security so they could drive right up to the terminal to exchange bags.
You’d think he’d be thankful for this.
Nope.
He insisted on parking his car in the parking lot to do the exchange (he said what level), and hung up. Of course, the port employee wouldn’t let us take a bag that wasn’t ours, so we left for the lot, leaving his bag with her.
We found someone standing with our bag tightly between her legs. I went over, and asked for our bag. She said, “Where’s mine?” I told her they wouldn’t let us take it out of the terminal. She said she’s not giving us our bag unless we give her hers.
She literally just stood there, silently, guarding our bag like her life depended on it. Would not give it to us.
I saw a security guard wandering around, and told him this lady wouldn’t give us our bag. He was very confused, but I somehow got him to come over.
He asked her if she was holding onto our bag, and she said she, “Yes, I’m holding it hostage for our bag that they stole.”
I explained to the guard the whole story, and he told her to give us the bag, or she would be arrested. We got our bag, and left.
