wdwgirl and Dad do Disney:an April '10 PTR...TR LINK ADDED!! p. 56

Another AWESOME top 10 list!!!! Some of those are my favorites as well. I would have to say, however, that your number 10 is my number 1. For me, there is nothing like seeing and driving under that welcome sign after having been away for some time. It's like a big welcome home.

I agree about the sign. It's like seeing an old friend. LOL. :goodvibes

Oh, I forgot to say that I am glad to hear that the ne job is working out okay. Also, big plus that it is closer to your home.

Yeah, the other night I got home so early I couldn't believe it. I was like I'm home already?!

Wow, that Top 10 list was awesome! :worship:

Thanks!

Congrats on the long-term subbing job!!! That is a great relief I'm sure. :thumbsup2

I love your F&G pics...some year I will get there for it!! Soooo pretty.

And of course, I enjoyed your Top 10! Several of my favorite sites are the same as yours, Main Street USA would have to be #1 for me as well. I love entering MK and seeing it all...:cloud9:

I also love the monorail going through Epcot. Especially riding it through Epcot. It's very Epcot-ish. :goodvibes

I think another favorite view of mine is seeing my first Disney bus. Since we use that transportation SO MUCH during the trip, seeing the first one just secures in me that we are truly there!! :hyper:

Thank you!

The F&GF is great. It's kind of funny because when we used to go over spring break a lot it would be going on but that was before I knew about it. I'll look at our old pictures and notice all the topiaries/displays in the background. haha!

Wow, I'm so behind....there was so much I wanted to comment on but I can't remember it all! :rotfl:

Love the Top Ten Lists!
I would have to add "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid to the song list. If I ever audition for AIE, that's what I would sing!!

Totally agree with that view from EE! I Love it!!!

Here's an idea for a top 12 I need help with:
Say you're taking a person who hasn't been before to each park. Which 3 attractions should I be absolutely sure they ride??

Oooh, you should audition for AIE!

I love seeing the Tree of Life and everything on that climb. It's amazing how much you can see!

Hmm, that would be a good list. Let's see...I'd say these:

MK- Pirates, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan (classic!)
Epcot- Soarin, Test Track, Maelstrom
DHS- Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, Great Movie Ride (you have to do atleast one of the classics at each park. haha)
AK- Kilimanjaro Safaris, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest

OK I just realized pretty much all of these attractions were on my Top Ten attractions list.

Great top 10 list. I think you hit most of my favorite sights. I think I'd have to add Sunset Boulevard to the list though since it's one of my favorite views.

Yeah, it's just so frustrating. Obviously I'd still rather have a full-time permanent job but I am not going to complain about knowing where I'll be going for the next few months. Hopefully it'll lead to something for next year then...

And yeah, a DIS meet would be so fun! We don't really plan out each day too much either...we're usually pretty flexible. Heck, there are some days we don't decide where we're going until the night before.

I understand the pain from it, at least vicariously. Weird's job right now is temporary. They're extending it again because they want to keep him there, but there's a hiring freeze. He's working as a technician at his school; he worked there during all his years of college so they know he's reliable. That's why it was shaky whether or not he would go to WDW with us because of financial reasons. It's terrible having everything up in the air, but we're very grateful that at least he has something for the right here and now.

Haha, we decide what park we're going to late the night before we actually go. We're probably only going to do MK and Epcot (possibly DHS with just Weird and my brother). We'll also be at DTD for one of the days. Who knows ... maybe we'll have a chance for a DIS meet despite our wacky lack of planning traditions!

They've been pretty good. State testing is going on right now so I had to give that to a group of 5th graders and then 4th grade starts today. I've also been doing a lot of observing/getting to know the kids and other teachers. It's also nice that I only have to drive 15 minutes to get to school (much closer than the other district I was working in)!

YAY! I'm glad it's working out for you right now. I hope it can turn into something permanent if possible. A 15-minute drive is great! I'm about 20 minutes from my school, and at the end of the day, it's really nice to know that I don't have to commute or drive for an hour.

And my all-time favorite sight in Walt Disney World is.... 1. Main Street USA!!!

So what are your favorite sights in Disney World? popcorn::

YES! I totally agree with Main Street! I love going over to the Photography board and seeing people's pictures of Main Street. The colors are amazing. It looks so inviting; I'm so excited to be able to examine it carefully in April.

One of my favorite sights is seeing the TTA as you're going up the platform and things start coming into view. The anticipation of being on the same level as the ride just thrills me. Then when I finally see it, all that happiness just rushes everywhere around me! Haha, so much so that I have to be careful that I don't fall on the moving platform.

GREAT top ten list! These are the PTRs that I love to read! Stuff about the parks and how you feel about them. Like I said before, we don't plan out our days or make ADR's so these are super fun. I look forward to borrowing your idea :goodvibes

Yeah, Sunset Blvd. is a really neat view too. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I guess I should be lucky that with teaching there is an opportunity like subbing whereas with other jobs there might be nothing. :confused3

Once it gets closer to April maybe we can figure something out for a DIS meet. :thumbsup2

I would love for it to turn into something permanent. The whole subbing thing is kind of getting old!

We have this one book called Treasure Hunts (or something like that) that kind of leads you to all the hidden stuff/details in all the parks and resorts. We have yet to use it. I really want to try to find some of that stuff this time!

LOL about the TTA! I can't wait to ride that again since it was closed this last trip.

Glad you like the list and I can't wait to see yours. :)

I will audition one day. I'm just not interested right now because I don't want to cut in to my park time when I haven't done DHS in 10 years! On one hand I feel kind of guilty. I don't actually want the dream ticket to audition for AI, I just want to say I performed on stage at Disney! :rotfl:

Great list of attractions for a newbie! Especially the one I'm thinking of bc he's not going to ride Mission Space.

LOL, yeah, I bet that would be so cool to be on the stage. I know that I would never do it because 1.) I can't sing and 2.) I'd probably make a fool of myself. But when we saw the show I thought it was really neat how they had a photopass guy taking pictures of them. What a neat keepsake!

ha, that sounds like me! I just can't bring myself to try M:S. :scared1:

Oh my gosh! I just realized that I've seen the Happiest Celebration on Earth castle and I feel like it wasn't that long ago! What year was it?! I also remember that the first time I went back to Disney in a long time after going for years in a row, the castle was pink and I was NOT happy!!

I will have to check out the entrance to DHS from the boat next month.

My top 10 would be almost the same as yours but instead of elephants on the safari I would say the lions. And I'd also add seeing the tigers on the Maharajah Jungle Trek!! I got amazing pictures of them one trip where they were walking around, playing with each other, and then one went into the water and was playing around. It was SO cute!

The HCOE was 2005-06. At the time I thought the castle cake was so cool. LOL!

Yes, you will definitely have to do the boat...it is quite a sight! :thumbsup2

If I ever saw the lions doing anything I might have them on my list. But like I said before all they ever seem to be doing is lying around.

Man - I am behind! You started this before I left on my vacation! I'm caught up though (thanks to your nice chapters!). I love your top ten list of the DW sights!

ha, that sounds like me! I just can't bring myself to try M:S. :scared1:

M:S is AMAZING! On one hand I want to say try it...you might be missing out on something fun. But on the other, knowing how many people react unfavorably, I would say that you don't want to risk feeling poorly for part of your trip! Maybe if you're ever in Future World in the afternoon of a last day of a trip?

It's just so difficult to predict unless you've been on something that pushes that many G's on you. But now I understand why some people aren't cut out to be astronauts!

The first time I went to ride M:S I was pretty scared. My ex bf took me and he kept telling me about how "its the only ride in all of Disney that supplies barf bags!" He had me really worked up about it, but after I got off I thought it was the most awesome thing ever!!! Well that and EE, and Splash Mountain, and Soarin', and Space Mountain...and well yeah you get the idea. :rotfl:

Yeah, part of me wants to try it but the other part of me keeps saying no way. I am not too fond of any of those motion simulator rides (the Jimmy Neutron thing at Universal Studios almost made me sick!). If I do ever decide to do it I'm definitely starting on the wimp side! LOL. It's really the only thrill ride I've never done. Who knows, I swore I'd never do TOT or RNRC and now those are two of my favorites so maybe I'd end up liking M:S.

I just tried TOT for the first time and I don't think I'll be on going on it again. It really scared me, not knowing when the drop(s) would come. The actual drop wasn't THAT bad...but not knowing really freaks me out! RnRC was awesome though. Funny how people like some big rides and not others.

Really?! I think that's part of the fun for me now. Plus it's hilarious hearing how other people react. :rotfl: But yeah, I guess it's all a matter of taste.

Hey Sarah, idk how I've missed this for so long but I'm here! Gotta go back and catch up now :thumbsup2

This trip sounds like it's going to be so much fun! And I LOVE your top tens! :)

Wow, I love your top 10s!! I really liked the ones with all the different views...who can resist "walkin right down the middle of main st usa"?!?! :thumbsup2

I know, Main Street is awesome! I wish I was there right now to get away from the cold (OK, it's not THAT cold here but I still wish I was in WDW! haha).
