DAD: 42 year old Disney dreamer and planner
Princess Mom: Age unknown(lol
)lover of any Disney Princess you can name
#1 Son 15 yr old: TOld me this is his last "family trip"
Only Daughter 10 yrs. old: The orignal "Princess"
Son #2 8 yr old who loves the WDW experience
Son #3 7 yr old who thinks "Quasi" is and still should be doing the Hunchback show at MGM.
Our story begins one year ago as we were one day away from a WDW trip.I couldn't breathe and I was rushed to the hospital with a blood clot to my lung. After 1 week in ICU and another week in a Semi-private room I was "cured".All kidding aside I"m lucky to still be dreaming the Disney dream. We had rented a Villa and the owner was nice enough to give us one year's credit to rebooking the trip. Also SWA extended our vouchers. The planning for the 2004 trip started immediately after being discharged from the hospital. To paraphrase Ms.Poppins a spoonful of WDW does make the medicine go down. After much juggling all 6 schedules we decided on August 21 for our trip to the world.I booked a MIni-Van with Budget 10 days at $403 (including all fees)I did have a little problem with SWA as the day I wanted to go to Orlando their flights were expensive.I decided to fly in to Tampa and drive up to Disney.I've done this before with no difficulty. My loving better half is great at packing boy can she pack. Our trip starts with dropping off "Belle" (family pooch) at the "Grand Floridian" of dog kennels(they charged me like she was staying at the G.F.)the day before departure. We leave our home at 7 a.m. to pick up some Breakfast and get to the airport for our 9:40 flight.I arrive at Islip early and park in the long term lot.Check in at SWA is busy but plenty of staff to speed us through. Also we get the coveted "A" boarding pass so all 6 of us can sit toghether. We line up 1 hour before boarding and are doing the WDW happy dance
The Pre boarding starts and everybody but Walt Disney himself Pre boards the aircraft.I'm not kidding my family and I were the first people in the "A" group and we're sitting in aisle 9.We arrive in Tampa on schedule and we're told that because of lightening strikes luggage w ill be delayed.Okay I understand safety first so I go to Budget BIG line at Budget I mean BIG but I'm a Fast Break member so I pass 15 people in front of me
Great start. We pick up the luggage and it's off to Neverland. However because of Charley,Thunderstorms and road construction it takes us 1 hr and 45 minutes to get to our Villa. The Villa is located in Oak Island Harbor very close to 192 and 5 minutes from WDW property. After shopping at Publix and dining at Cracker Barrel it's time to unpack and hit the HOT TUB
Pt 2 to follow.
