WDW will NOT accept "codes" if you do not have the postcard.

Funny, but whenever boomhauer posts, I always think of King of the Hill.

Does me no good anymore since I'm definitely not getting a code, but I'll pass this along to see if it helps anyone. I spoke with a manager at Disney World last week. We spoke for over 30 minutes and I was telling her all about the code fiasco, which Disney is aware of. She told me, anyone who is trying to pull the wool over Disney's eyes will not be doing so. If you don't have a pin attached to your name, the reservation will be reverted back to rack rate.

Again, these are not my words. I have no clue as to whether she was putting me on, trying to scare me (though I didn't use any pin) or whatnot. Just what she told me.

Haven't people already reported that they used the 40% with no PIN, and had no problem at check in, and their reservation was not reverted back to rack rate? I think 2 or 3 people are back just back from trips reporting this, but I could be wrong.

WAIT A MINUTE.........I smell something.........I think the dead horse that we are beating is actually already rotting:lmao: :rotfl2:

Time to slam the door CLOSED and simply bury this dead horse AGAIN!

Look above...we are changing the subject! (hear the applause?)

I'm so confused!!!
When I called (5 times a charm!) the 5th time and told the CM to check my maiden name to see if I had any pins, she said "Congratulations, you get the discount" literally word for word. I gave her the 'Z' code and she said I had a pin.
Anyway, I told her numerous times that I didn't have a post card or e-mail. She didn't seem to care and I don't understand this talk about having to pay after the fact. I got my confirmation in the mail saying I used code 'Z**' and my total and balance due! I'm not paying any more than that! Or else I have to switch resorts to a cheaper place :( I only picked AKL because of the deep discount I got and probably would never stay there without it.

Hey all

I would like to set the record straight on a few things that may have been misunderstood.

First off I do not think anyone went back and dug up an old thread - there where several new threads started on this subject in the past couple days and they were all merged into this one.

Secondly - There is a post I made weeks ago asking people to try and cool down.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=16764099#post16764099

At that time we had dozens of threads all about the 40% discount code. As moderators we closed many of the threads that had deteriorated into fights.

At that time I asked that we try and keep our discussion to the couple of threads that were still open.

In that thread I stated
We are also trying to stop the speculation and innuendos that have been rampant for the past several days.

Really how many "I did not get the code" or "I got the code" threads do we need

I'm sorry if that was interpreted as me saying there were things you could not post. This statement was made during a time when speculation really was rampant on the boards.

My opinion about what should be posted is just that my opinion, and should not be construed as any type of rule or guideline. As long as what you are posting is not violating the posting guidelines you are free to post what you want. If threads turn into fights because of it - we will close them or whatever.

I am a moderator, yes - and there are times as a moderator I may post in a manner that is intended to get you to think about things (like when there is lots of fighting going on) but I'm also a poster and I will post my opinion about things. Sometimes my opinion will be right - sometimes it will be wrong.

Wanna hear something really cool - My wife just had twins a couple weeks back. Jon's first son's name is Jesse James. I always loved that name, so we named one of our boys that. What I didn't know until just a couple days after the fact is, Jon's son and my son, both of which have the same name, were born on the same date - February 19.

Boom, Congratulations on the twins! My twins are now 8...what a blessing to be a parent of multiples!

That's the point!!!

I LOVE that show!

Yay!!! I got something right! Do I win a prize? Cause I never win anything, dad gum it. Yeah man, talk 'bout dang 'ol contests and such, man. I tell ya what.

Sometimes my opinion will be right - sometimes it will be wrong.

Trekker, how boring things will get around here if people insist on saying such things???

Slightly Goofy (who is NEVER wrong, except for when she IS)

LOL!

It has taken many years for me to even consider this possibility.......:goodvibes

I am sitting here at my desk actually crying because I can't take this anymore.

After being made to feel like such a criminal because a CM booked us with the code even though we didn't get a postcard (the CM told us we might have a pin, there was no way to check, but the code was valid regardless), I stopped hanging out here for a while.

I thought this all may have blown over, and I came back today to share some really cool news -- but what did I find? More people trying to take the fun out of Disney. I am not in the least bit worried about losing my code, like someone said, it was given to me by Disney, it's not like I robbed a bank or something. And please don't try to tell me that when I check in with my paid reservation they are suddenly going to up the price after I've flown out there -- wouldn't that qualify as a bait and switch?

Why is there so much negativity???? I am so upset and so anxious right now. I wouldn't have even read this thread, but it looked like it had been reopened after a month and I thought there might be some actual news. So I read all 11 miserable pages. And I feel lousy now. No happy Disney feelings.

I loved the DISboards. They make the long months and years between trips somewhat bearable. But I'm going to have to find another place, 'cause I won't put myself through this anymore.

I feel awful that not everyone got the code and I understand why they would want to vent for a while. But it's been over a month! If I hadn't been offered the discount, I would have been really bummed, but I certainly wouldn't hold it against anyone who did.

I know I'm taking it too personally, but I am so sad now. Just too much negativity on this board...:sad1:

Denise,
I understand how you feel. I actually vowed not to come back to this trhead because of all the negativvity and veiled accusations that have been going back and forth. But i saw your post and wanted to comment.
Please dont leave the DIS - if you cant take this debate anymore just dont visit the codes boards. I know after this i wont be back on the codes boards for a while. Most of the time the DIS is a fun place. You would be missed.
I hope that you change your mind and stay.... what was the good news you wanted to share? I'm always up for hearing good news!
Sherrie

Don't be upset Denise. I only saw a couple of "downers," most of the recent posts were people joking around.

I firmly believe Disney is NOT going to revoke or hike up the price on your reservation when you get there. The rumor mill is a terrible thing. Pay off your trip and have a wonderful time!!! Plus, there have been 2 or 3 travelers that just returned from trips using the code and did not have any problems. :)

Just want to start by saying that I have NOT read throught more than the first page of this thread. BUT I have a question...if you have a "pin" attached to your name how much discount does it give? Is it a better discount than the Annual passholders get? AND...if you had a "pin" and asked Disney to take it off your name can you get it back?

I had a pin last year and had no idea what it was and it was causing me to NOT be able to use my AP to get a room only discount the CM kept saying NO there was no availability for the date I was checking on even though it showed avail on the Disney website. After several calls and much confusion a CM finally said the magic word "pin" and that one was attached. So I asked if without the "pin" was there avail on the date and place I was inquiring with my AP and she said YES. So I asked her to take the "pin" off my name and she could not believe that I wanted her to do it. I had and still have no idea what this "pin" entitled me too. Can anybody HELP me? :confused3

Hey, Denise.

I’m relatively new here and am still catching up on things, but it saddens me that you feel burdened (as in feeling like a criminal) by the less than positive things about ‘the code.’

From my perspective, if you weren’t targeted and were able to book under the code, then I say someone in Disney (the CM) approved it for you and I can’t imagine that they will hand you a bill for the difference. You are not a criminal – Disney gave you the discount when it was processed and approved in their reservation system. I am happy that you got it, and no one should be able to put a damper on your good feelings of getting it. Go and enjoy your trip!

If you look for negativity, you’ll find it. If you look for the positive, you’ll find that, too. And there are many more positives going on here than not. So, don’t let negativity chase you away. Don’t stop using Dis. Let go of any bad feelings you may have and move beyond this.

As others have said here, this horse is dead, dead, dead – let's bury it and may it rest in peace.

Well, the code being referenced here gives 40% off of the room rate--a pretty nice discount. I would guess that it is comparable to or slightly better than the AP discounts (depending on the time of travel, maybe?).

This code/pin (whatever) must be used (as in booked by--not travel date) by March 15th I think (maybe 18th or 30th???). The pin you had last year would be gone (expired) by now anyway. You would have had to receive a new one by now...

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks folks,

You're right -- taking a deep breath and letting it gooooooo....

Like Sherrie suggested, I think I'll make a deal with myself and just stay away from the code threads... Because I sure would miss my DIS friends. I'm going to go find a better place to post this, but here's my big news: I'm going to Disneyland for my birthday next month!!!

Thanks again for the pixie dustpixiedust:

Rose Red, you did nothing wrong, and you are not going to be punished for getting something you did not scam Disney out of. They made the mistake, "if" a mistake was made.

The CMs that booked discounted rates without PINs are the ones in trouble. And basically the trouble they got in was, Don't do this again. And seriously they would not have even gotten in trouble if people had not complained that they did not get the discount and some did. Disney wanted to book these rooms and honestly they don't care who booked them. That might not seem fair, but business is business.

People were told, you don't need a PIN to get this rate and if the CM booked it and you got confirmation showing your rate, they are not going to come back and change it.

As to what some CMs have said and what some TA's have said, well my thought on that is until everyone gets on the same page with that story I am not going to worry about it and many times they tell people what they think they want to hear. All the comments about rescending and denying the discount have been told to people who did not get it. Not one person that got the discount has been told this will happen and many have called back to ask, and many have already been on trips with the discount and had no problems.

And to Disney not realizing there was a problem until later, they knew that day.
If they were going to rescend any discounts, it would have been done before the first ones went on their trips. They are not going to let all of March bookings go and then suddenly say, well lets now take this away from the ones left. They might not be consistent but they are not stupid.

Sammie-loving what you said, but wondering how you know?

ie. "And basically the trouble they got in was, Don't do this again. And seriously they would not have even gotten in trouble if people had not complained that they did not get the discount and some did."
