Just got off the phone with WDW. I had a promo"code" that I wanted to use. I did not have a postcard. They said if you dont have the postcard or the email info that WDW sent, they will not accept codes. They also said the postcard/email info must be presented at the check in counter. :confused3

I was told that too. Problem is, is that 3 CM's I spoke with all said I have a pin with my name. When I paid in full a few days ago, the CM said I don't have a pin but said my reservation is okay....which only adds to the confusion.

We get so many different answers from different CMs - until someone gets the dreaded phone call or actually goes to Disney and uses the reservation we will not know what Disney plans to do.

Trekker's right. If I *had* to guess, I'd say that if you have a pin associated with your name in the computers, it'll show up at checkin, no worries. But *maybe* the people who don't are the ones who will be asked to produce a postcard, if anyone at all is asked????

However, that is IN NO WAY a prediction of what I think will or will not happen....... guessing what Disney will do in any given situation like this one is a hobby that's very probably not good for anyone's sanity. :-)

We need to start hearing from people who booked the discount without the pin, after they check in. Did the discount stand, or was there an issue? Until then, we have no clue.

Hello all! After reading through this thread which I haven't kept up on because we are in the process of closing on DVC points, I had to at least call and try my luck.

I tried from my mom's house for her while she was watching my 3yo in the other room, and they wouldn't tell me anything on her account, but she did get on the phone and got the lousy news that she had no PIN.

I asked her to hand me the phone back so I could check mine, and I HAD A PIN. I couldn't beleive it, yet somehow I wasn't surprised for some reason, like it was meant to be.

However, I received no postcard in the mail, and my email address has been wrong in the disney system for 2 years now, no one will fix it!!!

I qualify for a significant discount for about 12 different weeks in 2007. Can do room onlys or a package. I most likely will do room only because if/when the points go through, we will buy AP and the discount card for meals, can't remember it's name...

Anyway, it's worth the call! Didn't need the actual card, the discount was just sitting there waiting for me to ask for it! Thanks again, fellow Disers!:grouphug:

i called and had a pin with my name never did get email because it was wrong in the system nuclearme@ instead of nuclearmed@ so I will get my discount.:goodvibes But I would not have known to call w/o DIS:cheer2:

I could be wrong (and quite frequently am!) but I think if your trip is paid for before you arrive, and they send you your paperwork, then they have to honor the ressie. I think if they accept your money, and don't ask for the paperwork until you arrive to check in, then it would fall under fraud laws. If you wait to pay when you show up, then you may be asked to show paperwork, and could get denied the code rate.

How can you wait to pay when you show up:confused3 My CM clearly told me my package needs to be paid for 45 days before arrival. So we will all be paid before showing up right:confused3

I've never had to present an email or postcard I've received for a special offer. Maybe the CM was confused and was thinking of AAA card or AP which are supposed to be presented in person for a discount...:confused3 Though in the past I have just given my AAA card number to the CM over the phone to book a room and never had to show it at check in.

Packages have to be paid ahead of time. Room only can wait and pay balance at check in.

CMs as usual don't know up from down. I've had postcards before and actually still have one from 2 years ago that I am looking at now. There is nowhere on the card that says you bring it with you. The check in CM doesn't even ask for it. I've used postcards that I was sent twice before. I'd be pretty ticked if I showed up to check in and was just then told to bring my email or postcard when it was never stated on either that I had to do so. I really don't put any stock into what the CMs say.

As was said.... room only can be paid in full at time of check-in.

As far as presenting post card when you check-in..... some people never do get the cards or emails..... they call and ask if they have a pin and are allowed to use it. (If their times/dates match the offer.)

What is the first dates allowed for the 40%? I agree with Trekker that until we receive the "call", "letter", or "raised rate surprise" at check-in we'll not know for sure.

Now, who's the first to go?

Hasn't this all been said...like a million times? There is no point in getting your panties in a bunch at this point. Sit back & grab a beer--it's Super Bowl Sunday. How can anyone worry on a day like today? Think of all the great commercials we get to watch!

Dusted - Congrats one getting it!

As for email addresses being wrong in the system, I've had the same problem. At first, I thought it was just that there were different systems - I was ok with telling reservations, Dining, and DDE folks that my email had changed. But *every* time I call, the CM confirms my email address and every time, it's wrong! Each time, I give them the new one and they update it, but then it's wrong again when I call next! Argh!

I recieved a postcard and then lost it! We were not planning on going this year because of money, but got to thinking if we got a very good deal we might. So I called WDW and told them I could not find my postcard, the CM said no problem if you received one it would be in the computer and sure enough it was! So I booked us for POP for the week of March 18-23 and saved $400.00! Now we are counting the days!

Yep Trekker is right. Until those who booked this without having a postcard or e-mail with the pin on it start getting notified by Disney reservations that they either have to pay rack rate or cancel there reservation, nobody will know for sure.

Actually, based on my experience with the BWI fiasco last year...

even if the package was paid in full AND both online info and "mailed" copy indicated I had a paid in full ressie...

several weeks later I received both the dreaded phone call from Yolanda AND a new invoice for the full, rack rate.:scared1: They wouldn't budge, no offered discount, nothing....for me or any of the others who booked.

If the audit dept. truly does go through what has been stated to me and evaluate all the code ressies/cross referencing them against valid code recipients; then you will receive notice as outlined above.

BTW, WDTC doesn't care if you cancel the ressie or not. If you don't cancel within the stated period before check-in they'll just keep your deposit and you won't have a room waiting for you.

Big difference between the BWI fiasco and this. BWI you were getting the room for nothing and new it. With these codes you are actually paying for the room. I would bet if you have been able to make the reservation with these codes everything will be O-tay as Buckwheat would say.

It's a wait and see game. My bet, if we're placing them, is that Disney won't cancel non-postcarded 40% off room-only reservations that were granted unless they have quite a few valid postcard folk being denied.

At the root, Disney marketing just wants those rooms allocated for this promotion filled. It makes more sense to have them filled with the target audience than folk who come again & again as they're looking to "hook" more folk on the onsite Disney experience. As for asking for the postcard at check-in? My bet: Nah. They won't be asking for them as they have the room filled at the rate they intended.

Where's my popcorn?
found it!
