How many arched WDW welcome signs (the colorful ones) are there? And where are they located?

I am driving in for the first time in a VERY long time and bringing a first timer with me. I usually fly and use DME, and I want to make sure I pass by one of these on our way in.

My initial thought was to come in off of Western Way, since we will be checking in at CSR.

Thanks!

the signs are at the entrance you are talking about. but they have signs posted and cameras saying no stopping. so drive slow and take pics thru the window. have fun!

I thought with all the different entrances to the property, there would be more than one. I've heard about people stopping, I couldn't even imagine doing that! LOL! I just want her to see it as we drive in. Thanks!

Well there is one entrance sign to Walt Disney World where you can go and take pictures. It's located in Lake Buena Vista/535 and it's where you will find Downtown Disney Marketplace. In August 2009 my family and I parked at the McDonald's at the Crossroads Plaza across the street from there, then walked over to the side where Mickey Mouse was along with the slogan which said "Where Dreams Come True" and took pictures over there. Since there is a crosswalk over it was safe to do that.

There are 4 arches.

1. World Drive (Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios Exit off of I-4.) [Accessible via US 192]
2. Osceola Parkway (Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Wide World of Sports Exit off of I-4)
3. Epcot Center Drive (Epcot, Downtown Disney Exit off of I-4)
4. Western Way (signage from Florida Turnpike advertises this way via TOLL FL 429)

Other Entrances which do NOT have an arch:

1. Hotel Plaza Blvd (often taken by taxi drivers from Airport)*

*At Hotel Plaza Blvd there are welcome gates, but no arch. This is the entrance CR Resort Fan 4 Life was talking about. This gate is also one used by the news media frequently.

The majority of the time when the Orlando news media is reporting on something that happens at WDW they are usually standing at the entrance to the Crossroads Plaza and always make sure to get the WDW entrance in the backround. So I don't think they have ever stood right next to the entrance.

There has been the odd time when they have also reported from just outside one of the other entrances you mentioned, although when that happens it's very rare to see it.

Right, this is what I meant. Just didn’t know how to word it since I’m not too familiar with that gate.

No problem! :) Just took me a few minutes and a visit to Bing Maps.
