I have a Fuji FinePix 2650 - definitely not top-of-the-line... 2.0 megapixel and 3x digital zoom, but somehow I look like I know what I'm doing, so it was worth it. (Thanks OT - see your nagging did some good).
Now this one has a story - I have 7 or 8 shots set up just like this. I stood there for fifteen minutes listening and counting down so I could get a rhythm for how the cars approach and how many seconds I have between pressing down the shutter and the image actually being captured. The cars are traveling at top speed at this point.
It was dusk right about then, and a huge monsoon was about 20 minutes away from blowing in.

The Matsuriza Drummers - they always look like they're having a blast.
That was absolutely a real person in Ice Station Cool. She had to stop spraying for me to walk past, and I went down the hall, turned quickly, took the shot, and kept moving.
