I think all the points raised come into play...and I don't think they conflict with each other at all.

Yep, demographics, sympathy/fear after getting slammed by the judges, race, and image/personal story all effect the voting. This show is not 100% based on singing talent. Nor is the music industry. There's many recording artists who can't sing, but are very successful. I don't know what the hell Simon was so shocked for when Ruben hit the bottom 2. Wasn't he the one who was beating on the "image and looks are important" thing at the beginning? If Kim L didn't change her image, she would never have made it this far.

I don't know if it's so much that people know more about Josh and that's why he has the big following. I think it's that what they DO know....they like. The fans of AI actually LIKE (or LOVE....ahhh Julia) "their" favorite contestants and that goes beyond their singing talents. It has to do with looks, image, personality, background...the whole package. And how those things affect their likeability are determined by demographics, race etc.

If you compare Josh to Ruben in terms of singing... Ruben is much better. But add in everything else....I bet Josh has the advantage. I even bet if they both made CD's Josh would sell more.

C'mon, we all know Julia should really be winning this thing.

On to Survivor. Or better yet, the kids will be over this weekend, I'm hoping a trip to see Lizzie McGuire is on the agenda. I have been looking forward to seeing it!!!!

AP, the Titanic movie is playing at DTD, I heard. Aren't you going there soon? No IMAX, but it's in 3D I think. If not, I heard that popping a couple of your pain killers, while sitting real close to the TV, will give a sort of 3D effect to any movie.

Umm...I think AP has had one too many trips with the pain killers...

AP - the IMAX film "Titanic" is NOT the 1997 Paramount movie starring Jack and Rose...it's a documentary on the REAL ship (so there won't be that stupid Celine Dion song) by James Cameron.

Plus - this one is better then Paramount...it's Disney...

Madonna, I just meant I was done talking about it this week, not forever.

The 3-d Titanic movie was awesome. I enjoyed it so much. I found it very interesting. I didn't see it in IMAX but really the effects were still great.
