DH and I have been to WDW 2 or 3 times in mid January. Next January we're changing it up and going to DLR. For those of you who have been to both parks at this time of year, can you compare the weather for me? At WDW we usually wear long sleeve shirts and bring jackets/coats. Should we expect to do the same at DLR? Thanks in advance!

The great thing about Southern California is that the weather is always GORGEOUS! It will be comfortably warm during the day, say low 70's (maybe highs 60's in January) and a bit cool at night. I'd definitely recommend a long-sleeve t-shirt, or hoodie/jacket for night time, but you probably won't need it during the day. It won't be at all humid and is unlikely to rain. The wind is the only thing that can make it tough, especially when waiting for World of Color or Fantasmic! (though F! is going dark after January 10th for a while). Overall, the weather is much more pleasant than Orlando's...or anywhere else's for that matter. Enjoy!

If you are referring to this January, you can expect rain. Southern California is expecting an El Niño year, which will mean 3-4 times more rain than normal years.

It could potentially be cold, but will likely only call for a light jacket. You could need sweaters during the day.

You can't predict the weather. Either location could be beautiful or could be very cold.

Oh, no...that El Niño could definitely up the chances of rain, which are usually very low. Of course, California really needs the rain, so I guess it's a good thing.

We've been to DLR in January and it was COLD and windy... some nights were into the 40's. Of course, it all depends on the weather pattern, but I remember at the time it being a bigger deal on the local LA news.

Just remember, at that time of year the weather can change quickly, so always pack warm clothes. It's true whether you go to WDW or DLR in January.

Two years ago we went to WDW mid Dec and the weather was warm enough for skirts, shorts and t-shirts. Three weeks later, just after new years, we went to DLR and the weather was still really nice but not quite as warm as it was in Orlando.

In both places we needed jackets and wore jeans in the evenings so I think that time of year you need to have packed a 'bit of everything'.

Thanks for the input, everyone! Guess we'll be prepared for anything :confused3
