WDW "Vacation A Day" Contest!

Congratulations to all of the winners. I was one of the winners two years ago and there were 19 of us here on the Disboards who won. We started a private Facebook page just for the winners and it was great to "meet" each other and plan our trips together. Plus, we knew when others had been contacted so we weren't going crazy waiting to hear something. We still have that Facebook page two years later and many of us have become friends and met in person. Just a suggestion if you're interested. One thing to note if you do it. I was the one who started the page and we did have quite a few people who tried to join that hadn't actually won. I asked each person requesting to join a few questions that only the winners would know. Have fun with your planning!

Not extremely new here, but forgot password, etc. Been lurking for a while now. Our last trip was in 2008 for our 23rd anniversary. At that time, it was just us. It was a dream trip for us as we stayed at AKL. The thing that sticks in my mind most about the trip is when we were on the bus one day and the only other people were a couple and their little girl. It was evident that she was adopted and just precious. The mom said, it must be nice to be here just the two of you.

I was floored. I would have loved to have been there with a child. We had not yet been blessed.

Fast forward 6 years....we now have our precious son, adopted in 2010 from Ukraine. Due to the economy, hubby in master's school and adoption expenses, we have not been able to take him to Disney.

But...we won! I received the affidavit via email yesterday. Now, to get notarized on Monday, scanned and hard copy mailed.

I only entered 3-4 times and so excited to share Disney with our boy!

YES! YES! YES!!!! I'm sorry, but I just love it the winner turns out to be someone who has never gone before, or even a winner that would never be able to go for financial reasons.

I just wanted to "second" this great Post!

I have been to The Walt Disney World Resort 30 times with 3 more trips planned for 2014.

After reading this year's winners' stories,I would "almost" have felt guilty if I had won a trip!

This year's winners are so much more "deserving" of a free trip than me.
(I still would have "forced" myself to accept though!LOL)

I hope all of the winners will come back here and tell us about their trips after they return-that would be so much fun.

2. So, if I scan my affidavit tomorrow...how long be forget is confirmed?
Hubby won't believe it until I have more concrete proof.

I scanned mine at about 8pm on the 28th. It was confirmed by 9am the following day. They are pretty quick with it as long as it is a business day.

Congrats on winning... welcome to the "15 business day wait" to get more information.

We faxed our affidavit in and were confirmed in about 2 hours! They then sent us the official "Congratulations!" email where we had to tell them if we wanted WDW or DL as our vacation choice. And now we wait...

We finally heard from Disney today! We received an email from a Disney travel agent this afternoon with 2 attachments: an FAQ form and a questionnaire asking us to rank the resorts in our preferred order and give some airport information. They ask which time of day we want to fly in & out and from which airport. The questionnaire also asks if we need any additional rooms or additional nights.
We immediately wrote back to Sherry (the travel agent) and asked what we do since there is just 2 of us going (not 4). She said they would be glad to add extra nights on to our stay since we won't be needing all of the plane tickets or park tickets they offer! Now we just have to fill out the questionnaire and fax it back to her ASAP so they can book our trip! So exciting!!
In case you're wondering about the timeline, we got the first email from Ventura last Monday, faxed (and overnight-ed) our affidavit on Tuesday, got the official "Congratulations" email on Wednesday, and was contacted by Disney today (Monday).

I got mine this morning as well!!

Now comes the hard part... narrowing down where I want to stay.. and when. And of course the DH is NOT helping at all... neither is the DD(11). I must be the only one SUPER excited to go!!!!

I would LOVE to be part of the FB group!

I think we are shooting for 4/26-5/1.... or 5/3-5/8.... or 5/10-5/15
(we added a day for actual vacation lounge time)

our affidavit today, but Betty replied that she was out of the office andould verify first thing in the morning! I would love a Facebook group. We will probably wait and travel in the fall due to hubby's Master's school schedule. I cannot handle the heat!
