We are staying at WDW CSR. We may want to venture out and head to SeaWorld or Universal one day. There is 2 of us.

Best way to get there? Is there transportation shuttle? Rent a car? How much would a taxi cost?

A cab or a car service will run you about $70, or so, r/t, plus tips. A rental car can be anywhere from $35 on up for the day, most likely 'on up'.
You can take the Lynx bus to SW.....leaves from TTC and is about $2 pp, each way. It's easy to get to the TTC early in the day....take the bus to MK and then monorail over to TTC. I forget the times the bus runs, but you can check on their site....www.golynx.com
The bus drops you (you have to tell the driver you want to get off at SW!!!) at the parking lot. I've done it with my dd and dh and it worked very well.

I would recommend calling Mears and booking their shuttle bus to US/IoA. It's $19 pp, r/t. You do need to book it the day before though. You can then give them a return time to pick you up at US/IoA or you can call them a few hours before you're ready to leave and they'll tell you when to be at the bus stop. I've done this as well....nice way to go.

I haven't stayed at CSR, but I was at Beach Club in March and took a cab to Sea World. It was a 15 minute ride at 8:30 AM. It cost $23.65 (plus tip) to get there. Similar amount to go back from Sea World to the Beach Club.

One thing I like about taking a cab back to the hotel is that you can leave when you get tired. With Mears, you have to plan in advance when you will want to leave the park. (I'm good at planning when to be at the park in the morning, but not when energy will run out in the afternoon.)
