I read somewhere that this will allow them to offer "tiered" parking, which non-resort guests can reserve at 30 days out using one of their FP+s...
You realize that some people on here will believe you are serious with this comment.

I certainly did not mean to upset or anger anyone with my post, and I apologize if I did.
This has to do with the fact that during the past holiday season, many people were given a voucher to drive over to Epcot and ride the monorail over to Magic Kingdom.I just hate when people post these type of comments and then someone comes in all upset about it, even though it's clearly a joke - so I wanted to defuse that before it happened.
Edit: BTW - I haven't parked a car at WDW in 15 years - so I could care less about more parking - BUT it makes me wonder if they expect to increase capacity at MK. Isn't there enough parking for current capacity?

It's the same reason that the Jungle Cruise Cafe is opening. They need to improve capacity now that New Fantasyland allows so many more people into that park.
From a number standpoint for like fire marshalls and such NFL allowed about 5,000 more people into MK than prior to it. But like you said that doesn't have 20K or toon town in that factor.I wouldn't say that NFL has increased capacity at MK. Capacity is a function of square feet, not new rides. SF within MK has not increased significantly (if at all) with the NFL addition. We lost 20K Leagues & Toon Town. We gained what we have today with NFL. From a capacity perspective, this is pretty much a wash.

The speedway used to be a parking lot originally.

The MK lot does fill up often and people are bussed or take the monorail from Epcot because of such. That's exactly what surprised ME about this move. I would have guessed (maybe incorrectly?) that MK would hit capacity BEFORE the existing Parking lot did....
