Don't assume that the "added parking" isn't paired with some sort of service rerouting or parking "reduction"
The speedway used to be a parking lot originally.
Agreed. Possible future DVC tower at the Poly comes to mind.
There is absolutely no financial reason to build a parking deck if you have land to build surface parking. The cost per parking space in a parking deck is 5-10 times more expensive than it is in surface parking. DTD and Universal are different circumstance because of space restraints but for a place like this there's absolutely no logical reason to build a parking deck. It's very rare...something is behind the smoke to make fire here...
If they truly wanted to add large scale capacity...they would build decks...
This seems more displacement...cast parking, TTC, etc.

Now it's returning to the salt of the earth![]()
So - should Disney be marketing this. "Due to guest Demand, we are bringing back a classic attraction from the early days of Disney World. Much like the Enchanted Tiki Room and the NAME of the Polynesian Village Resorts, we are taking the Disney Speedway back to its origins...."
No.. it was the speedway,so it would be McQueen, Mater, Luigi ...Wonder what the new parking sections will be named? Anna, Elsa, and Olaf?
Disney filed a permit today for construction of an expansion to the parking at MK where the Speedway was. The speedway was supposed to close in August but closed early due to a deadly crash earlier this year.

Correct I looked it up yesterday you could still book petty until the 8th of August. The track is still open. I believe they have discontinued the Exotic Driving Experience which is the one that had the accident, but the Richard Petty Driving experience is still operating for now.
Only thing missing is the multiple bedroom lodge/tower. That building...at least the grounds and parking...invades the TTC area.
I read somewhere that this will allow them to offer "tiered" parking, which non-resort guests can reserve at 30 days out using one of their FP+s...
They could take this to a whole new level by making the construction itself an all new attraction. Just pipe in some Seven Dwarfs music and start handing guests a pickaxe. This would truly be cutting edge, as no other theme park in the world is offering such a hands-on experience to really make you feel as if you're part of the action.
"In an effort to immerse guests in a truly interactive experience, we welcome you to "Whistle While you Work" at our newly expanded MK parking area. Don your hard hat while we transform existing asphalt into... well, newer, better asphalt."
Now that would be some additional capacity![]()
