May I have an opinion, please! We were planning on renting a double for DSs 5 and 3 (both tall for their age) for our trip in 10 days (whoo hoo!) then started thinking about maybe renting 2 singles in case we need to split up. (5 yr old is not a ride guy but 3 yr old is much braver, maybe we'd need to hit a play area while one is on a ride, etc.) Any thoughts? Does anyone know what the weight/height limit is for the rental strollers? They look pretty big and I saw on "Jon and Kate..." that their 6-yr olds fit into them no problem. My 5-yr old is 50 lbs / 47 inches and my 3-yr old is 38 lbs/38 inches.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure there are no weight/height limits on them. Though, you might be better off calling a park and speaking to a CM at a park directly.

Also, I have seen pics (in people's TR's) of PARENTS sitting in the strollers for one reason or another. So, if that's any help at all. :P

Have fun on your trip. Hope this helps.

The rental strollers are pretty heavy duty.....I sat in them to rest during parades while the kids were off playing. Now Disney sells strollers for less then they rent them for a week....so that could be an option and your just fold up the stroller and take them home.

A double length of stay rental will definetly be less expensive than 2 singles. I would not worry about height or weight. Two summers ago my DD then 11 was having a really hard time with the heat. She also has had some problems with her knees and walking is painful at times. I wanted to get her a wheelchair but she really wanted a stroller. Instead of ruining the day I opted to cave and get her a double stroller. She had to be 4'11" and close to 80lbs. She curled up in that stroller and I pushed her around for the rest of the day and night. (She even ended up falling asleep at one point) Pushing the stroller was not hard and even though we did get some funky looks from others I just chose to go about my business and enjoy the rest of my day and keep the family peace:thumbsup2

To the bolded. Good for you guys for just going about your day and not letting the funny looks get to you. Sheesh. You're daughter had some problems getting around (even at her age and size) and you helped her be more comfortable. :D

I have seen recently that the disney strollers do have a weight limit as far as your kiddos you woud be fine but w/ the new strollers I don't know if they will support the weight of older children/adults. On another note in dec 2006 when we went for MVMCP when we lined up for the parade the family next to us the mom was sitting in the stroller w/ her kids.

We rented a Baby Jogger Double from www.orlandostrollerrentals.com on our trip in August and just rented another for our upcoming trip in March. Their strollers are awesome and fit DS7 & DD5! It is $85 for the week and saves huge dollars compared to Disney's. My understanding is that the new MK strollers are SMALL. I saw some pics on another thread.

We thought about renting from an outside company but 1) I don't think we feel like dealing with the folding/unfolding to get it on the bus and 2) after the recent post about the stollen stroller, their policy seems a bit expensive for something that wouldn't be your fault!

Tx again for the info. I found those cute stroller IDs on mouseforless.com so now I'm going to work on some of those for the boys!

the new strollers do look smaller and looks more like a seat than a slide in, KWIM?

It's actually cheaper (by $1) to get 2 singles for length of stay than one double. A single is $13/day if you rent it for length of stay and a double is $27/day - length of stay.

We did a single last month for our 4 year old. There were a few times when the 7 year old sat in it and he had plenty of room.

FYI-MK has new strollers. They are much smaller than the blue ones they had before. I doubt my 7 year old would fit in the new double.
