WDW raises the cost of valet parking at their Resorts to $10.00

I just read that WDW has now increased the valet parking fee to $10.00 & I am happy they did that. Now some people can not say to others to valet park at a Magic Kingdom Resort to save money on parking, because it's cheaper. So now there is no getting around the $10.00 fee. I wonder if WDW found out some guests were doing this & were forced to raise to price to same amount that it costs to park at the theme parks? Anyway I still say it's a great decision made by WDW.

When you add in the tip it wasn't really any cheaper to valet park your car, so the price increase actually makes it more expensive to use the service. No problem for me though, the Disney Dining card handles my valet fee anyway.

Your 100% right because I forgot about the tip, although my family & I don't use the valet service so that must be why. Still I am happy the price was raised because I got sick of reading posts of people saying to valet park at the Resorts & go the parks since it's cheaper that way. Well I say again don't think you can make that argument anymore.

Back to your subject - I fail to see how this would stop anyone from self parking at the Contemporary Resort and walking to MK. Someone who truly wanted to avoid the parking charge could simply say that they were going in for a meal, park, and walk.

they get a parking permit (even if during lunch) for 2 to 6 hours.

6 hours yea they could do the parks - but 2 hours - not very easily.

disney says they will toll your car pass the limit.

also if the resort is full (of people not cars) you will be turned away.

I think they should have always charged the same for parking valet vs the theme park parking. Tip is extra - especially if you don't want them racing your car.....

although between disney dinning and DVC member I don't pay for valet parking either - of course I don't use it very often either.

1st off all people here have suggested to others if they wanted to save money, valet park at a Magic Kingdom or Epcot Resort since it was cheaper then parking at the theme park itself. 2nd The Deluxe Resorts have lists of which guests are comming for ADR's, so that makes it harder to park. Finally if they say they don't have one, the CM working security can turn them away & last month at WDW I saw that happen a few times when returning to the Contemporary.

In peak season they may deny entry without a confirmation number for an ADR, or they may deny entry if they have a high profile guest at a convention at the Contemporary.

But I have probably parked at the Polynesian and Contemporary almost a hundred times for meals, and rarely received the parking pass. Ditto parking at BCV and BWV.

While they do enforce the resort parking more strictly during peak periods, there are many times during the year when it is not enforced.

This does not surprise me at all, and I think eventually they will have a fee for everyone to park at the resorts that will be the same as the fee to park at the parks.

When someone abuses something, everyone pays. Which is why I never understand those comments, it ain't hurting anyone.

You're assuming that people who are concerned about saving the small difference would have tipped.

I believe you will find, for the most part, that people aren't suggesting people use valet parking to save money. They suggested it to those who wanted to park at the CR, rather than the TTC, so they could eat a meal there, and then walk over to MK, legally. And that would be the way to accomplish that. It wouldn't have been any cheaper to use valet parking since I believe it was $8 and then you would, ostensibly, add in a $2 tip. My father drove up to spend some time with us a year ago when we were at BWV. We could have given him our parking permit but he chose to valet park...said it was the best way to handle it since he wasn't technically a guest, just visiting one. That would be the appropriate thing to do I guess.

We have driven to the Poly and the CR many times for meals. Only about 1/3 of the time are we given a 3 hour pass. It's hard to imagine that the CR would actually tow individuals when the gate guards don't distribute passes on a consistent basis. Also, they don't always ask our name or for our ADR #.

The system is far more lax than many posters would have you believe, It's not an excuse to abuse it, but it's just NOT that militant.

I thought with DDE card it gives you free valet parking ONLY when you are dining there. Is that what you mean by that?

We never have to worry about paying anything. Valet is free, except for tipping, if you have a handicap placard. We put my mom's in my car and use that. Maybe it will stop those that are trying to avoid the parking fee at the parks.

Yes that would be the one. And we always tip depending on what we are driving, my van or my dad's F350 dually.

I heard that the increase was due to the outsource takeover of the valet function, which would make sense I guess.

I too have often gone to the CR for dinner and not received a timed parking permit. I've also been turned away once or twice because they were so busy, with large conventions, that even though I had a reservation, I was told to park at the TTC and ride in. Parking has always been tight at the CR, especially after they built the Convention Center (which took a big chunk out of the available parking). Now with the parking for the North Wing fenced off, I can only imagine the trouble legitimate guests are having with parking.

On a humorous note, has anyone else received a "cast member (without sticker) parking in a guest area" parking ticket on their car? I received one about 10 years ago at the CR, a year that I had multiple reservations so I was at the resort a lot. It said my supervisor would be notified and disciplinary action would be taken. I had a good laugh out of that one, and it's one of my favorite Disney souvenirs. Since it was a multi-layer form, I wonder what they did with their copy (seeing as I've never worked for Disney)?
