I just looked back at some rough history on the DVC resorts. Without a lot of digging I found point charts for 1996, 1999 and 2001. From 1999 to 2001 there has been no change in the points required at the WDW resorts. From 1996 to 2001 there is a minimal difference in weekday nights. Weekends are the same.

GF went up 3 points for each weekday in every season. The Contemp Tower, Poly, AKL went up 1 point for weekdays and the same with Contemp Garden, WL and Wilderness Homes up 1 point for weekdays.

In 1996, the Moderates were not available on points. (Two other differences, reservations could only be made 10 months out and no less than 7 days. Now, we can book 11 months out and up to 48 hours in advance.)

Of course, bold print everywhere advises that the point charts are subject to change at any time.

If these large point jumps are true, I can't imagine the reason behind it.

Thanks for the research. Hope this is all a big mistake.

I doubt that it's a mistake, per se, but rather a sort of 'test balloon' from Disney. Perhaps if they hear from enough screaming DVC members ;), they'll back off this plan...

Does anyone think that DVC would ever consider "reducing" the points, once they've raised them?

Pam - does your research ever show these points going down?!?

This really is disappointing... wish I had taken the opportunity to use this plan more... I don't see if happening, now.

Hi Beth, I don't have all the years handy but nothing went down in this group. They certainly have the power to take things back down and I hope they consider that.

Has anyone heard anything about the other offsite resorts....The Plaza, Broadmoor, etc? I sure hope they haven't bumped higher as well. Actually, if these were to go up, I wouldn't feel as bad. I just feel as if the Disney family is sticking it to DVC members in this instance. I'm hoping things will be better when we see the whole chart, but I'm not optimistic.

Thanks for posting this, Pam. I was under the impression, having looked at the charts when the 2001 charts came out, that there was an increase between 2000 and 2001. However, you are indeed correct that there was no increase. That makes the large increase for 2002 much more unexpected, I think.
