May I be so bold as to suggest that on your next trip, you consider trying night shots in Av mode, and going for a narrow aperture (set it for something like f/18), and see how that works. You may find that you get sharper images with very good color rendition. I'm assuming you're using a tripod, as that would be mandatory with that long of an exposure.
