WDW in May?

Is it a good idea to go to WDW in the first few weeks of May?

How are the crowds?

How's the weather (humid, sunny, etc.)?

All of my early family vacations to WDW were in the early weeks of May. We have the best memories from this time of year. The crowds are low and the weather is beautiful. It's starting to get a little warm but not nearly as bad as when you're there in the middle summer months. Unlike being there in July you can stay all day and not get overheated. If not going in November/December I would definitely suggest May. Have a great vacation!

I've gone the first or second week of May the past 6 years, great time to go! Weather is great, it can get hot but not real humid. Very litttle rain. Crowds are on the low side. Flower & Garden Festival is great!

We visited in May last trip and LOVED it. It was such a wonderful time to visit-great weather, less crowds-perfect!

Our first two drips to Disney were in mid-May, and it was perfect! The weather is milder -- pleasant in the mornings, not unbearably hot in the afternoons -- and the crowds, at least in the late '90s, were not bad at all. (These days, who knows??)

And the Flower and Garden Festival is a delight. Lots of great photo ops!

We were there from the 9th to the 13th this year. The weather was beautiful. We had rain only once and it was so great sitting on our balcony and watching/listening to the storm. The temperatures were very nice, mid 80's. The crowds were not bad at all; the parks LOOKED crowded but the wait times on the rides were short and we only used fastpass a few times. I will definitely go again in May.

Thanks...we used to go in the summer but it got to be too hot and humid.

We went during Christmas...BAD idea! It was in the mid40s during the day and rained on Christmas! The sun and nice weather only came out the day we arrived and the day we left!

Hopefully early May is a better time to go!

May is one of our favorite times to go each year....lately the crowds and heat have been picking up.

We were there this year the 1st week of May and were very happy with the crowds and the weather. I think the weather was a bit on the cool side the 1st week this year compared to what others report. We were there around mid-May in 2000 and it was a bit warmer but not hot. I think it is a great time to go.

We were at WDW the second week of May last year (2004) and it was great! I would say its one of my favorite times of the year to go!

The first few weeks of May are great times
The deeper into the month you go though the hotter it gets and the more crowded.

I'd say the first 3 weeks are best.
Once you get into the 20's alot more schools start letting out.

We just went last month the 14-21 and the weather had no rain the entire time, and while it was hot, it was never humid. We had a couple of mister fans and they worked great. The crowds for us were nothing, only the Friday before we left was a bit more crowded at MK. When we go back down the road, we'll definitely look at May again.

We usually go in Jan and September, but this year went the 2nd week in May... and LOVED it! It was more crowded than we're used to, but totally manageable. The weather was gorgeous - mid 80s with low humidity (not like September, ugh). The parks were open later than we're used to as well - a definite plus! We liked it so much... we're returning the first week in May next year!

We went this past May 5-9th. It was glorious (at least compared to the winter-like weather we left in upstate NY). Temps reached a high of upper 80's to 90's, the humidity was mild. On the 5th, we arrived at night to rain. In the morning, it was a bit overcast, a bit chilly ... but by 2pm, it was gorgeous!!! Sun was out, nice and warm. The last two days were just amazing -- hot and sunny! Crowds weren't bad, either. It's the only time I've been to WDW and had a 15 min. wait for ToT!!! Usually, the waits are like 75+ mins.!!

The only other time we went in May was in 2000 and it was beautiful every single day! We were there later May for Star Wars Weekend and the crowds weren't bad. I think the crowds were bad this SWW b/c of the release of the last movie in the series and all the furvor it created!? Just a guess. When we went, Star Wars Episode I had been released a few weeks prior and it wasn't as packed as I've been reading this year has been! Go figure!!!

I'd choose to go in May again. I'm lucky that we have a long weekend (not Memorial Day) at my school and am able to go. I'd love to be there longer, but as a teacher, I can't take the time off.

We went May 15-20th this year and found it to be a wonderful time to go! We were skeptical of how the crowds were going to be, based on what we read on UG website. But thankfully, the crowd predictor was wrong! The waits were not that long, if any. The weather was perfect, mid 80's and no rain.

May is one of our favorite times to go each year....lately the crowds and heat have been picking up.

This is also one of our favorite times to go - we always have an annual family gathering. However, the past couple of years, the crowds do seem to be growing. Still a wonderful time to go, though.

The weather is nearly perfect - mid to high 80's and generally sunny. This last year we were there for 5 days and it only rained once for an hour.

If you are looking for a new time to begin vacationing to the World and May doesn't work, try October. This is DH and my all time favorite time to go. The weather is great, finally starting to cool down, and the crowds are very managable. Plus, the Food & wine Fesival and MNSSHP make it such a magical time.
