WDW in March or August?

Hope I'm posting in the right place! I am in the planning stages for our next WDW trip and we are looking at dates of 3/21-3/28/15 or the first few weeks of August 2015. Pros and cons of either choice? I know weather is a biggie, I live in the south so I'm used to oppressive heat and humidity if that influences your opinions!

I would check out the crowd calendars for next year to see what they say about August. If the crowds are supposed to be ok I would probably do that over March, if you think you will be good with the heat. In March you are likely to face large crowds due to spring breaks for schools. If the crowds are projected to be about equal then I would do March so it's not so oppressively hot.

I live in the South, too, and even I find the heat in the summer months almost unbearable. You're not just hanging out by the pool, you are walking on hot concrete. If at all possible, I would try to do March. But I do agree if the crowd levels are super bad in march August is doable. Just make sure you have a TON of water and "Frog Togs"

Keep in mind that local schools start back August 18. So the first three weeks are extra-crowded with locals & FLA residents. March is definitely a better bet.

That being said, from the 18th of August to the end is fantastic, crowd-wise. One of the slowest times of the year for the parks, in my experience.

My hubby works in the school system so we can only travel during peak times when school is out, like spring break (which, for us is March) or August. We've done both and, while I prefer the weather in March, I prefer the onsite resort prices in August. There's generally a lower rack rate in August and, once the summer discount is applied to that rate, we can usually find something we can afford. In March the rack rates tend to be higher so that, even with a spring discount, the end cost is more than what we pay in August. If cost is a factor for you, it might be worth it to take a closer look at historical rates for the weeks you're considering. Good luck and have fun planning
