We're thinking of going to WDW in late February 2002. How's the weather? We live in NYS and it can really get unbearable during the winters. A late-febraury break from the wintery weather would be great! Thoughts on late-Feb Fl weather and use of points during that time would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The weather is usually very nice at that time of year - especially for those escaping the winter. The only issue is that sometimes it isn't really warm enough to go swimming. So, if that is very important, then it is an iffy time.

Also, late February there are a lot of school vacations which might make it busier than other times of the year. So, if you do decide to go then, you may want to be prepared for some crowds.

Enjoy!

Hi !
We are also from NY. We usually go the Presidents Week in Feb. , because the schools are out. I LOVE gong at this time of year, and would not miss it! The weather can be very nice. Last year it was in the 80's during the day, at night it was still warm,we could still swim and just go out in shorts. The weather is usually a little cooler. In the past it would be 70-low 80's during the day. At night we found we would need pants and a light jacket. It is such a great break from the weather in NY.
The parks are another story. They are quite busy at this time. We don't go to them very much because we don't like the crowds. We usually go to an e-night and then DQ, that's about it for Disney in Feb. We go in Nov. and do the parks, and return in Feb and April, just for the weather. We do stay at Hard Rock or Portofino for the first few days because they offer front of the line access to guests who stay at their resorts. This is perfect becuase you never have to worry about how crowded the park might get.
The point cost is a bit high, but to us it's worth it. We book a 2 bdrm Mon-Sun and stay at the Universal resort on Fri-Mon., (before we go over to Disney)
If you go you will enjoy the break from our nasty winter NY weather.

Our first visit to check out our investment in DVC was in February of 2000. We stayed at a studio at BW for 6 days. We had a great time, despite the fact the weather was somewhat uncooperative. It rained almost every day and we did not unpack our shorts once. As you can see, we are from the upper Midwest so we are exposed to alot of cold weather, as are you. What we LOVED about the trip was the spaciousness of the parks since it is not considered one of the peak times. Some people were walking around grumbling about the weather but we saw it as positive because we just walked right into the attractions. I don't think we used the pool on that trip because of the weather, but there is so much else to do we didn't feel deprived in the least.

We just got back from a late May trip after having gone three times in late February, and once in late November. We will probably try to avoid May in the future, as we thought (being Midwesterners too) that it was too @#$ hot! (upper 90's every day) I've never sweated so much at WDW in my life! Thank goodness the kids weren't with us, as we only stayed at the parks for short periods. Then we came back to cloudy, rainy Ohio where the temperature hasn't been above 70 since we got back!

February (late February) is our favorite - even though you run a chance of some rain. It is a good break from the bleak, cloudy, snowy, north and gives you a hint of spring. We have always worn shorts, and always gone swimming (you just have to get a towell quickly on some nights). As long as you stay away from actual Presidents Day weekend, the parks are not so crowded too.

November was neat too, as the parks were all decorated for the holidays. The only bummer with November is that you come home to many months more of winter!

We will be there again in late February 2002 also - and doing a 3 day Wonder too!

We went during President's week this year and last. this year was much warmer - lots of swimming, but last year I think we went in the pool only once! I've been to WDW in April (Easter), June (going this year again, I am crazy), July and August and Feb. is my favorite!!

We were there this year, Feb 8-15, and the weather was wonderful. It was warm enough to swim, but not so hot that we were uncomfortable. Early mornings were cool and misty (or maybe that was smoke?) and evenings were light jacket weather. Parks weren't crowded, either. Can't wait to go again next year.

The weather is perfect during that time! Jan -Feb is very nice. (Except this past early January where it was FREEZING!!) It usually ranges from a comfortable 70s up to low 80's. The only thing, other than the bigger crowds during that time, is that it's a little tougher to pack. Because you'll most likely be needing long pants and warmer shirts, but may also need shorts and T-shirts, you sort of have to pack both types of clothes.

It's never been warm enough for us to visit any water parks, but we've gotten in some pool time then.

Have fun!

We were there Feb 22 and 23 this year and the weather was awesome...didn't wear pants at all. But the week after that was cool and the week before that was cool. So you just have to pack for both. The pools are heated it's just getting out of them that could be the trial!!! The crowds were okay. MGM was packed because Rosie was there but otherwise it was very manageable!!
