I'm going to WDW on July 11th and I've heard that it's unbearably hot there during July. Is this true?

Yes!

It just means you need a good plan though, BenS. Tour in the morning, take a couple hours at a water park or your resort pool mid-day, then tour again in the evening. There are lots of ways to make the heat bearable, so go and have a great time. Just make sure you drink LOTS of water, and pay attention to what your body is telling you. :)

We have been there in July. I agree--go as soon as the parks open. Drink water. A lot of the attractions are air conditioned so there are opportunities to cool off. Use Fast Pass. Waiting in line and walking around are the HOT times. Take an afternoon break at a pool and go back in the evening. It's still hot at night, but without the sun blasting, it's easier to handle.

Yes, July is hot. You can prety much count on 95+ degrees everydayand about 80+% humidity. If you are not used to high humidity, this will get you more than the heat will. Nothing like breathing in warm water!;)

Thanks. I think I will bring some spring water (I don't really like Florida water). Hopefully this won't ruin my trip.

I don't like the water at WDW either. Rather than lug water along, I bought a Britta Water bottle. They have the sport bottle size. It really filters out that sulfur taste of the water.

It's really, really hot and really, really humid. The humidity hits you in the face as soon as you step outside your hotel. But as others have said, you can manage it. Get up early and take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour if you're staying on site. If staying off site, get there a bit before opening time. Stay until about 11:30 and then leave for a nice air-conditioned lunch and your pool or a waterpark. (I'm a big waterpark cheerleader, as I find them to be Heaven in summer:D ).

Take a few hours to cool off and relax and you can run around like a nut in the evening.;)

Oh, and don't forget those Florida thunderstorms. Bring your raingear, you'll need it.

ITS AWESOME IN JULY. We go every July or August. Never seen it over 92 degrees but humid and storms pop up most every day around 5PM and then it gets quite nice for the evening. Agree with early/late park visits and breaks during the afternoon. Just wear swim trunks and sandals and a thin shirt or tank so you can get as wet as you want as often as you want-you will dry off soon enough. There is a lot of AC except at AK. I can see wear it is too hot for many people though, so ask yourself what category you fit in. Just go and have fun.

My notes from our July/August trips:
1) I have a small diameter umbrella that I use, especially in the AK. Keeping the sun from broiling down on me helps me in the heat. I have to be careful, though, in crowds.

2) For those of you with straight hair, get a light body wave/perm about a month beofre you go. The humidity and the heat make my hair horrid.

3) Three words: Ice Station Cool!

4) Take a washcloth with you to the parks. You can get it wet just about anywhere and cool almost any part of your body. I personally like to put one on the back of my neck.

5) Drink lots and lots of water........ then drink some more. That does two things: it hydrates your body and also gives you a good reason to visit an air-conditioned restroom on a frequent basis.

6) Protect yourself against sunburn. If you are fair or from a not-so-sunny place, the Florida sun will crispen you very quickly. Once you have a burn, that sun is quite painful and you will be hot, hot, hot.

I'll be there on 7/29!

Yes it is very hot!

Even though last time we were there it was was hotter where I live in south jersey then it was in WDW.

But statistically (sp?) they say July is the hottest month and most crowded!

Is it really necessary to take a break in the afternoon? We will be there at opening time for each park. We're also taking Brita Water Bottles, lots of sunscreen and hats.

I'm just afraid if we take a break in the afternoon that we'll miss out on so much time to ride.

Is it just as crowded in the evenings as it is in the mornings? How long of a break do most people suggest?

I can't imagine doing those parks all day in that Florida heat and humidity, not to mention the summer crowds. Obviously, you don't have to take that afternoon break, but I sure wouldn't skip it. We are going in two weeks and I intend to break every day at lunch time. The afternoons are brutal!
