My notes from our July/August trips:
1) I have a small diameter umbrella that I use, especially in the AK. Keeping the sun from broiling down on me helps me in the heat. I have to be careful, though, in crowds.
2) For those of you with straight hair, get a light body wave/perm about a month beofre you go. The humidity and the heat make my hair horrid.
3) Three words: Ice Station Cool!
4) Take a washcloth with you to the parks. You can get it wet just about anywhere and cool almost any part of your body. I personally like to put one on the back of my neck.
5) Drink lots and lots of water........ then drink some more. That does two things: it hydrates your body and also gives you a good reason to visit an air-conditioned restroom on a frequent basis.
6) Protect yourself against sunburn. If you are fair or from a not-so-sunny place, the Florida sun will crispen you very quickly. Once you have a burn, that sun is quite painful and you will be hot, hot, hot.
I'll be there on 7/29!
