Hello! I am seeking suggestions on when to plan our 1st WDW family vaca! We were originally thinking the end of April 2016, but I've been recently thinking about the end of February...any suggestions? Hoping someone could shed some light on visiting WDW during this time...weather? ride closures? Any and all suggestions/advice is appreciated!

Thank you!

We used to go every February....President's Week...which is school vacation here in the Northeast. Some years the weather was great, but we did have one or two years that were downright cold...40's and 50's. That was not fun to tour the parks in. Plus, depending on where you are flying from...if you are, February can be risky with weather cancellations.

A couple years ago we went in April and loved it! The weather is great...usually 80's and love to be able to wear shorts and swim while we are there. We found the crowds to be the same...but that is because they are school vacation weeks. If you can avoid the Easter crowds, I would definitely prefer April.

The Flower and Garden Show is usually running then as well.

We will actually be arriving next Wednesday! Can't wait after this long brutal winter we have had.

The weather varies significantly - in the same week we've worn jeans/sweatshirts/jackets/hats and shorts/tshirts. My DH does not do heat/humidity, so he loves it. Even when it's been cold, we've been fine touring and it's still warmer than home (NE Pa).

Ride closures are common in February, but the later in Feb you go, the less that will be closed since they try and get stuff up and running by spring break times. We have usually gone the first week in Feb, and quite a few times Splash has been closed.

We've been in February and enjoy it. Yes, there are some ride closures but the crowds are lower that some months and we like the weather. We would rather be cooler than sweating when touring the parks. The only downside to us is that we drive down, so the questionable weather on the drive down is a pain - we've gone thru some nasty snow/ice storms before.

April would be my choice. Warmer weather. Longer park hours because of less darkness. Lower hotel rates (the end of February is "Peak" season, the end of April is "Regular" season). Fewer closures for rehabs. All in all, more for your money in April than in late February.

You can see the rates and seasons for 2015 for the All-Star Resorts here:

Just remember that Easter will be in late March next year, so "Peak" season will probably extend only through mid-March and "Regular" season should begin the 2nd week after Easter.

If you want to see what the weather will be like, you can check historical weather here:

To see park hours, check the crowd calendar from above.

Given a choice we would choose April...well actually May is our favorite...but we will be going in February next year due to kids vacation time. Fingers crossed for weather cooperating!
