Looks like Disney Park Blogs confirmed some holiday attractions for Disneyland (Jingle Cruise, its a small world-holiday, and Haunted Mansion-Holiday)... as well as a few others that look very specific/unique to DL/DCA.

I know MK has had Jingle Cruise in the past... what about the other two? Besides Osbourne Lights -- last year, I know.. I know, and the Candlelight Processional and "Storytellers", is there anything specific/unique to WDW?

Sorry.. forgot to post link: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...parade-disneyland-forever-fireworks-and-more/

There isn't much though I do recommend checking out the gingerbread houses; they're incredible!

They do not do these holiday overlays at WDW because the pool of customers is made up largely of first-time and once-in-a-lifetime visitors who come from all over the world and they like to present the seminal experience as much as possible. DLR has a ton of local pass-holders who visit many, many times per year (month? week? Oh, if only I lived in Socal!) so they feel that they can do these very popular alternate versions. At least, that's how I assume their reasoning.

Imagine coming halfway across the world for a Disney visit, and not being able to see the classic Haunted Mansion? Nightmare Before Christmas may or may not be big where you're from? DLR plays by different rules, and that's a good thing as it encourages me to visit both coasts for some Disney fun.

So, why decide to do it with Jungle/Jingle cruise, but not the others?

Amount of time it takes to do the overlay. Reportedly, the Haunted Manson overlay takes quite a while and the attraction is closed during the install and removal.

Right. The closures are long (like 5 weeks) and that factors into it too. They can't have HM at WDW down for 2 months a year just for a holiday overlay. Jingle Cruise was the first time they ever did one at WDW, and it is relatively light theme wise. The Haunted Mansion Holiday is almost a completely different ride!

AHH! Ok, that makes more sense... althought they don't seem to have issues leaving a giant flippin' crane by the castle for months on end... (le sigh...)

All parks:
there will be holiday themed decorations and flowers and normal for any season change.

MK:
Christmas party
Night show last year was turn the castle into frozen show

Resorts:
Several will have gingerbread themed displays. Usually it's Contemporary, GF, BEACH, and last year something in boardwalk (watch blogs, they start to make these in october and post about the setup, they take a month and built in front of everyone).
WL has great decorations as well as the largest tree on property
Camp grounds has a nice mix of things including people decorating their campsites.

Special Food:
- watch the blogs, there will be a variety of food items to celebrate the season, falls are already blogged
- Check the events part of the website for additional food, desert and options you can book that are holiday themed (like a couple desert and meals that go with osbourne), etc etc..

Every resort has something:
- just most are not worth traveling to for what little they have.

Yeah, but the crane doesn't close an attraction for long periods, though I personally don't care enough about Christmas lights to care if they put them on the castle or not. Couldn't they just do a nice projection map? It would take literally no annual setup.

They used to to a Christmas version of Country Bears Jamboree @ WDW but some bean counter decided it wasn't worth spending the money to do the conversion each year. Of course someone at one point thought it did made sense to spend money put the Christmas Tree up in the Rose Garden by the castle blocking the fireworks views & then spend more money to move it to it's normal position near the main entrance after the Christmas parade taping for a few years. They've also stopped most of the Holiday lights at the resort exteriors because they think it's a waste of money. After all who goes to WDW to see all the Holiday Decorations?

Do they decorate Jungle Cruise at WDW for the duration of the holiday season from mid Nov through New Years? I'm guessing it is Jingle Cruise for daytime visitors and not just the MVMCP?

There's no way they could repeatedly put the decorations on before each party and then take them off again afterwards, especially since the park doesn't close and then re-open for the parties.

In addition to the attractions you mentioned, you can (well you could in 2013) take carriage rides through Ft Wilderness and the campers usually put up a bunch of decorations too. It was kinda neat going through there being pulled by a horse.

Not much Christmas in WDW. We've only been a couple of times, during the holidays, since Disney dumped Lights of Winter. Would've made another trip, if we had been warned, that the Osbourn Lights were being discontinued. WDW has been marked off out Christmas list.

Bah humbug!
