WDW has a new fan...This is his trip report (Completed!! 2013-05-20)

It does seem like you got a lot accomplished at Animal Kingdom. Isn't the Tree of Life just breathtaking the first time you see it?

So sorry you didn't like Everest. Kudos to you for at least trying it. It is my all time favorite ride!:thumbsup2 But, to each his own. At least Disney offers a wide selection of rides so there's something for everyone.

I just love how you tell your stories. You make me laugh.:rotfl:

Ok.. I am all caught up. I will have you know that I, a fellow Canadian share your pain, and can completely and totally relate to that picture:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My roller coaster loving husband had to go to the first aid tent to lie down he was so sick after Everest. And it is LEGEND in our family to speak of the time that he rode Tower of Terror.
He and my 10 year old dd came walking off of that one. Him as pale as a sheet and she shaking her head in shame. They walked up to me with one sentence.
"Mom, Dad screamed like a little girl." This said by the 10 year old girl.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ah, the things we put ourselves through in the name of "fun"!:wizard:

Looking like Day 7 is gonna have to be a two-parter (due to all the photos I want to include). There is also a little gem from a certain ride that involves a log which may or may not show me coming un-gluded again a-la the "Expedition Everest Event"....Trying to have part 1 up by weeks end.

Just finished reading your trip report and wanted to tell you how much I loved it! Between the tears of joy and tears from laughter I'm gonna have to rehydrate. :goodvibes

I look forward to your next trip and am hopeful for an accompanying report for the 2013 adventure.

Thx...you know...when I first started writing this I didn't know if anyone would even take the time to read it. I've been so surprised at all the positive feedback by people taking time out of their busy days to read about our trip.

There's no doubt I'll be writing a TR for next years adventure....Although I wish I was a little faster/more detailed its proved to be a great way to re-live the trip. Thx for coming along for the ride....hoping to have the first part of Day 7 up tonight.

Loving your report...looking forward to the rest!

Just joining in. Great trip report so far. You Everest experience was hilarious. As a fellow Canadian but one who loves coasters I have to say Everest was a highlight for us but to each his own. As others have said you deserve full marks for just riding.

Two words for your Everest description:

FREAKING HILARIOUS!!!

Joining in!! What a wonderful TR. I actually teared up a bit during the video. What a fantastic surprise for your wife:goodvibes
I can't wait to finish the rest! Really enjoying it!:thumbsup2

I'm glad you guys are enjoying everything so far....more to come!!

Well here we are...our last day in Walt Disney World. As I woke up this morning at 6 it quickly dawned on me that this was it, the end of the trip. So many months ago, as I sat planning this secret trip, this day seemed like it would take forever to get here. Now here I am...Well, we had better make the most of it!

Our plan was to be at the Magic Kingdom for rope drop (something we hadn't seen yet), breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, some time in the park (and possibly a ride down Splash Mountain???) and then supper at Cinderella’s Royal Table before “Wishes” ended our trip in style.

If memory serves me, we were on the bus to MK by about 7:15am and before we knew it we were waiting on the Main St. USA Volunteer Fire Chief to start the day off right with the opening of the park. The ceremony was awesome, and made even better buy a much smaller crowd than I had expected. This was another moment, in a trip full of them, that Nicole will never forget. Really well put together...on top of that It was great to see the “talking” Mickey and the gang, it really put a great spin on it.

We walked into the park and although it was a little overcast it was still a great day in WDW. We didn’t have a lot of time to hang around before it was time to jump on the monorail again and head to the Contemporary for our 9:00am breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey’s. We mostly just stayed on Main St. and checked out a few stores before making our way out.

Just before we left the park we stumbled upon the beginning of a Pinocchio meet and greet. Nicole (freaking out at this point....not, you know, weird....but happy with a dash of over the top) was beside her self. She made her way into the line and when it was her turn the CM with Pinocchio told her she was the most excited adult she had ever seen at a meet and greet...that’s my girl.

Before we knew it we were on our way to the Contemporary and approaching Chef Mickey’s. Now before I go any further...I love me a buffet, especially a breakfast buffet. As breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day...I am ready to eat!!

Now the only thing that I don’t understand about Chef Mickey’s is the picture that they take of you before you sit down. Do they actually think that people will spend $30.00 on it? I mean...its a nice picture and all but...its a little rich.

Breakfast was Dy-no-mite! They didn’t leave anything out on this one. All the classics and a bunch of stuff you don’t see north of the border....Sausage gravy over biscuits? Yes Please!! and what breakfast buffet in WDW would be complete without a Mickey Mouse Waffle??? Delicious!

Nicole loved her photo’s with all of the gang....but one in particular.

As we both went up to fill our plates again, I returned a minute before Nicole and guess who was waiting at my table for me?

With Nicole no where in sight I grabbed my camera and said “It’s just you and me darlin’”, great memory.

Up next was an 11o’clock appointment with the people behind the Disney Vacation Club. Now, we didn’t really expect that we would be buying into it at this point but we thought “why not” and headed for Bay Lake Towers. After the pitch (which lasted about an hour) we found ourselves painfully close to buying in. That said we didn't...but saying it was close would be a glaring understatement. With DVC Fast Passes in hand we set off for another adventure in the Magic Kingdom.

The first place I used the DVC FP was on.....you guessed it “Splash Mountain”!!!!!!! Now....after the debacle that was “Expedition Everest” you can imagine how nervous I was. As I sit here in my living room typing away on my MacBook, the 3 months that have passed have aloud me to loose touch with the fear that shook me to the core in the Animal Kingdom....that day, facing “Splash Mountain” it was all still very real. Now Nicole made no bones about it...she was having no part in this ride...I couldn't blame her, but I had to do it. I was scared...my skin was flushed and my palms were as sweaty as medically possible...but this had to happen.

I could not go home knowing that I chickened out on this, one of the most popular rides WDW had to offer. I would redeem my self to day....I would over come all my fears...heights (check), speed (check), terrifying drops (check). I would enjoy this ride...and keep my eyes open (The WHOLE TIME!). As I entered the queue I thought “this is it....here I go....this is gonna be awesome...fun, yeah....OH MY GOD!!!! I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!” but no...I persevered & I got into that log with 6 other brave souls. As it began it was pretty good. A couple of small drops...in the dark, but it was fun. As we approached the inevitable drop out the front of the mountain and the subtle click...click...click...click up towards the sky I thought...This is gonna be fun. I’m gonna see the park from high above everyone else. It’s gonna be awesome. I’m NOT going to scream and I’m going to keep my eyes OPEN....I’m a MAN! OHH YEAHHH!

nope............

Up next...Part 2. Cinderella’s Royal Table and saying good bye to WDW...see you soon.

Oh..you have me going again!:rotfl: So she wouldn't do Splash Mountain with you eh? I vice gripped my DD arm and clamped my eyes shut that whole ride...I feel your pain!:lmao: I love the picture of your DW and Pinocchio! Adorable...so what happened??? DId you buy into DVC or not? I am very curious!::yes::

Nope...she had no interest in Splash Mountain (I'll get her on next year...guaranteed!). As far as the DVC in my TR I said...

"After the pitch (which lasted about an hour) we found ourselves painfully close to buying in. That said we didn't...but saying it was close would be a glaring understatement"

It was close...I mean CLOSE....but after everything was said and done I'm glad we didnt. It is a great option, and one we will consider further someday, but for right now we decided to wait. We are heading back next year, but in 2015 we are planning a big trans-atlantic cruise (It will be our 10th wedding anniversary and our 20th year together) so I would rather put all of our extra money into that for the forseeable future. :cool2:

That sounds amazing!:goodvibes

Wow! :cheer2:
You did it, that face is priceless. :lmao:
I'm sure your eyes are wide open behind those sunglasses! Ha ha .......
The first time is the worst, next time it will be pure FUN! Really it gets better and better! :yay:

Awesome trip report.

my question is regarding Chef Mickeys.
I would hate to spend that kind of money and miss a character. Do you know when they are coming to you.? In Crystal Palace you see where they are and kinda gauage how long it will take to come around.

Did Minnie come back around for Nicole?

Great trip report! I wasted way more time than I should have reading it this morning. That Everest picture was hilarious! I wasn't a big fan of the backwards parts either.

No way....you couldn't have peeled them open if you tried!:rotfl:

I agree about the first time...I'm sure when we go back next year I'll be ready to try Everest again, as far as Splash, it really wasnt that bad...although you'd never know it by the way I look!

I'm proud of you for at least trying Splash Mountain. :thumbsup2

Thanks...had to do it.

Thanks...As far as our experience with CM's, it was fairly easy to figure out when they were going to get to you...very similar to CP for sure in that regard. No, she never came back around for Nicole. They cover alot of ground in a few minutes...especially if there are a few tables with no children.

Awesome, I'm glad I could decrease your productivity today:rotfl: The backwards part of Everest is the worst part of the whole ride if you ask me...especially if you don't know its coming!
