I wasn't sure which board to post this on, but here goes. Does anyone know if there is a grocery store in the WDW area, other than Whole Foods, that has a meat counter? I'm looking for someplace where I can buy, for instance, a specific number of chicken breasts, steaks, etc. My DH and I stay off property at timeshares and generally cook part of our meals in the unit. We don't need prepackaged, family sized meat portions, just enough for the two of us.

Yes there is. Do a Google Search for "Publix near Walt Disney World". You can also substitute Target or Walmart if those are your preferences.

Goodings is in the crossroads area (near Disney Springs) and I believe they are a full service market. Their web site stinks but you could email them to find out. It's probably the closest full service grocery to WDW.

publix is awesome, we have a great one in Celebration right next to Disney
Agree that the Publix in Celebration is a very nice store. We've been there a couple of times (our Dr is in Celebration) and we regularly shop at our neighborhood Publix in Winter Garden.

There was a suggestion above for Goodings in the Crossroads. I'm not sure that store is even called Goodings any more, but past experience there was pretty bad. I'd go elsewhere.

Thanks folks. I'll give Publix another try. I agree, unless Goodings has changed considerably, they're overpriced and understocked. Our usual go to grocery store is Winn Dixie. Sam's Club is worth it if we are traveling with family.

There was a Winn Dixie right near my time share we went to, 11957 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL 32836.

There is a Publix on/near Vineland, near the outlets. While they do pre-package their meats, most Publix meat departments are happy to break packs for you. I do this often at home, as I'm usually cooking for two and sometimes find the ground beef to be in packs too large for me or chicken only in larger family size packs. I have used Goodings in Crossroads on the way in for basics like milk and juice, since they are open 24 hours and I'm usually arriving after 11 pm, but I don't think I'd use them for meats.

I would do say Publix would be your best bet they are great there and will gladly break a package for you so if you need more or less of some thing and the sea food department will steam and season your fish for you so you can shop and then pick up your fish and have it for a meal that day. I do this a lot where I am ( I hat the smell of cooking fish so this way I do not have to smell it)

Yeah don't go anywhere near Gooding's,I remember first visiting one in the area around 1990 when there were like 3-4 in the area.It was nice back then and expensive, but at least the store looked up to date and superior to most grocery stores back then.Today there's only one one left and last time I went in there about 3 years ago the shelves were half empty, the lighting in the store was very low like they're trying to save money, the carpets were ripped and the prices were still way overpriced, the place basically still exists getting tourists from Disney in the door and ripping them off.Publix is the #1 grocery store in Florida and they are all full service stores with anything and everything you could need, the closest ones are a tad further but worth it.There's also a Winn Dixie about 2 minutes north of the Goodings on 535,Winn Dixie is not Publix but its still a solid grocery store. The Super Target on 192 by the 429 expressway and the Walmart supercenters on 535 and Turkey lake rd are also excellent options, basically just avoid Goodings.

Located in Dr.Phillips on Sand Lake rd (aka.restaurant row)near Universal you also have a Trader Joes,Whole Foods and a Publix.

Publix or Winn Dixie are the stores we've used most often. We once bought a terrific spiral cut ham at Goodings, but that was several years back. It was expensive then with little variety and there weren't many other options (stores) at the time. There are other alternatives now which are much better.

is sams club and wal mart decently priced? we looked at publix in davenport and it seemed quite expensive. we ended up shopping at winn Dixie, but it still seemed kind of high.
