Just got back from WDW last week, and while on fashion patrol I noted some things that caused me to wonder...

Did I miss the memo that said I had to buy new sneakers before I went on vacation? I could not believe the number of people that appeared to be wearing brand new shoes. Is this common practice?

Is it okay for women to wear two piece swimsuits at the Parks? I can't believe the number of women I saw basically wearing bikini's. (wearing those short shorts I don't think absolves you). I asked a CM if I could wear a swim suit to the parks. He said I need to have a shirt on in the park. Well, excuse me, but what it the difference? Women don't go topless at the water parks. Why can women dress the same as they would at the water parks, but men can't? It made me wonder if it would be okay for men to wear tank top t-shirts and speedos at the parks?

You know, men, if your back is as hairy as an ape, it's best not to wear a tank top.

You know women, if you want to go witih the low-rise pants and short tops that show your navel, it's best your exposed belly doesn't stick out farther than the waist top of your pants. It's probably best if we didn't see stretch marks, either. Just a tip from the straight eye.

Do people really have trouble finding clothes in their size?

To the 55 year old Mom with the Cyndi Lauper 80's hair dye and doo....uh... you cannot pull that off.

Men, black socks with shorts DOES NOT WORK! Particularly with with tennis shoes, or sandals. Who told you that was working?

"Crack" kills...that's all I'm gonna say. Particularly when I'm just sitting down to dine.

C'mon. Admit it. You all do fashion patrol. Now don't lie. :D

I'll admit it. I'm guilty. You'd think I'd never made a fashion mistake (which I'm sure I haven't... )

OMG....lol...it's one of our favorite things to do at WDW! We'll often stake out our spots for shows/parades, etc and just sit and laugh at some of the things that walk by....if they're really funny, we'll snap pictures to bring home and share with everyone..LOL :teeth:

For instance, Ladies, if you're gonna wear shorts, please make sure they cover the area where your leg meets your posterior. :teeth:

You guys are my kind of people!

I've said it, and I'll say it again: wear clothing fitting of both your age and your size. If you're 22 and 100 lbs, jump into the low rise pants and tube tops. However, if you're 50 lbs overweight, those types of clothing were never designed for your body. And don't get me started on how YOUNG some girls are, yet they're allowed to dress like their 20....

I second the vote on bathingsuits. While FL is hot, tank tops come in a variety of light fabrics and styles. The bikini is little more than a bra (yes, I wear them, but still!) and should be treated as such. No shirt rules should apply to everyone or no one.

I guess I crave for a time when people cared about how they looked in public. I won't run out in my PJs for gas or coffee, but some people have no problem with this!

Glad to see I'm not alone :)

Yes! I am guilty! We do get new tennis shoes for the trip (we do break them in a lot before we go, though), BUT, I swear, we don't practice any of the other things mentioned!!!!

You did not go to the water parks this trip? We always have a grand time seeing what people wear for swim suits!

I admit that I also buy new shoes for holidays (but do wear them in first.) I also buy new clothes which I keep in a seperate wardrobe ready for my trip( I know). I admit I also like to look at what people are wearing!

When we were there last week and spending a lot of time in resort pools, there was an overabundance of overweight and pasty white men in Speedos. Speedos are not a good look on any man, imo, especially not those 50 lbs. overweight with a body that hasn't seen sunshine in 10 years.

:earseek:Ugh, cuz the VISUAL..... :o

I usually buy my son new sneakers but NEVER again for myself. I did that once and had to have my old Faithful's found and brought down by my sister when she came down! Orlando is the worse place to try out new shoes!

I agree with everything else, though. Sometimes the people watching is more interesting than the rides!

I LOVE to people watch...it's just amazing to see how some people put themselves together each day.

What REALLY shocked me was the woman I saw at AK wearing short shorts, a mesh top w/ bikini top under it (so not THAT revealing) and pumps.

yes - high heeled PUMPS from the 80's.

Oh, I'd be happy to people watch all day. People just amaze me! On my last trip to Typhoon Lagoon, we called it, "Attack of the Speedos"! There were 2 foreign couples next to us. One guy actually was in good shape, but we'd just crack up whenever he walked by because that little Speedo left nothing to the imagination! ;) The other guy was like what Snoopy described. You could barely see the Speedo, as his gut was pouring out over it. His wife was also pretty large and she had on a string bikini. Gotta give them credit though, for their self confidence! We had quite the show going on over at TL that day. People watching is the best!

are you guys kidding,, ppl watching is my favorite wdw activity.. or beach , or at the mall, or anyother gathering area:) i'm almost as bad as zurg,, ya know he has made a web site out of the bad shoes he sees at wdw.. www.badshoe.com i think.. its funny:)

hey i resemble that:) dw refuses to let me own a speedo,, but hey i think round is a nice shape too:)

I agree...WDW is the best place to "people watch" and oh what you can see. Ilove to watch the people and their "strange fashion statements" go by. After reading a few of these replies though, I'm getting nervous. Maybe I should pack and dress differently. I may be gulity on a few counts. I still remember my first trip when I packed all "outfits" completely coordinated down to the shoes.(Which, by the way, I had an entire suitcase of.) Now it's throw in the shorts, T's and bathing suits and go. Maybe I better rethink it.

Sorry - it may have been me you saw walking around WDW with new shoes! I really needed a new pair though, and I don't usually buy them right before our trip.

As far as the other "sightings" go, it wasn't me!!! One of my favorite sayings is "just because they make it in your size doesn't mean that you should wear it." I saw an elderly lady at the AKL pool in a very revealing bikini. Now I admit that she weighed less than I did, but she just did not look good in a bikini! I don't think anyone over the age of 75 should be wearing a bikini!

I also love to people-watch ::yes::

Now, I am guilty of wearing new-looking shoes. I always get a new pair 2-3 weeks before we go, and wear them constantly to break them in good! But, I pretty much only get new (tennis) shoes before our trips, so if I were to wear the old ones, they'd be so worn out and tamped down that my feet would hurt right away! New ones (broken in) manage to stay soft and squishy most of the trip and keep my feet from getting so tired so quickly :)

On the overweight people wearing low-cut jeans with a thong....just be glad you weren't at my mall yesterday! A girl in her 20's maybe, but EXTREMELY overweight (not apple shaped, but pumpkin shaped!) had on the low rise jeans.........stretch marks everywhere (tummy and back sticking out).....thong sticking way out....stretched to the limit.....I though the thong was gonna give and shoot a bystander! OMG it was so disgusting!! I was wishing for either a camera (to snap a picture to prove just how disgusting) or something sharp, so I could gouge my eyes out and not be subjected to it any longer!!! UGH! :crazy2:

(PS--I'm overweight, too, but REALIZE it, and would never be caught dead in some of the outfits I see walking around Disney or even the mall back home! I don't encourage skinny people to dress like that, but if you're body is ok, I'm not gonna be offended. However, if I need to go vomit after you cross my field of vision, please rethink your clothing choices!!)

hehe I love to people watch. It AMAZES me what people wear. And I think all people should be required to own a full length mirror.

All the young girls look fat nowadays because everything they wear is so freaking tight. It's a shame.

luvdzvy...you're right....dress age appropriate !

I was amazed, too at how many women were wearing revealing clothing. My DH on many occasions would say "Hmmmm...why don't you just wear a bra to the parks...a bikini top is just the same!" The other thing that got me was all of the clevage popping out all over the place. There were several mothers wearing clevage bearing clothing...it just made us think...what a great role model you are being for your kids!

I had a great time last week ppl watching as well and took a few BadShoe pictures that I will send to Emporer Zurg for entry into Bad Shoe Hall of Fame!

The thing I worry about most is how much sun damage all these people are getting! It may be a scorcher but it doesn't help anymore to wear a tube top than it does a decent tank top. Tanks are ok if they cover your bra/bikini and tasteful. Even with sunscreen you still get some UV rays, plus sweating, rubbing against others and the Cool Zones, your not as well protected.

I'm a larger gal, all in proportion thank goodness, but still I would never consider wearing anything tight or revealing. Occasionally i have a shirt with a lower cut cleavage but nothing all out there. Whats left to the imagination is much nicer I think.

I've always sworn I would write a book called " A Fat Girls Guide to Life"

Ch.1 "Spandex...No Honey"
Ch.2 "Just Because it comes in your size doesn't mean you look good in it."

*still thinking of more chapters*
