WDW/DCL Western Caribbean Honeymoon Extravaganza!! DONE!!! - PG 51!!

Sooo funny! I'm in my classroom, supposed to be setting up, listening to it and that line just came on RIGHT NOW! So funny!

Have you ever watched any of the special features? I was shocked that he was American the first time I heard him speak! He's much better British! It's weird to hear with without that accent!!

"If my heart could beat, it would break my chest!"

I'm going to set up MY classroom on Thursday - what a good idea! I'll take that CD along! I might have to watch Buffy from the beginning again.

'You have to go on living......so one of us is living....'

Spike has an amazing english accent - very authentic - he does sound funny American! Have you seen him (James Marsters) in Torchwood?

Sorry if I've hi-jacked your thread somewhat - I am really enjoying reading about your disney/cruise/honeymoon adventures! The pictures are amazing and I keep relaying bits of information to my hubby. (Who, BTW was the person who got me into Buffy....;))

Best Wishes from England!

Shari xx

LOL I say the same thing (in reverse) every time I hear "House" speak off-show!

Oh yes! I had no idea he was British until I saw an interview with him!

Love the dolphin pictures!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Torchwood, is that his band? Never seen it. I wonder if he plays his song from Buffy. People would go nuts!

I'm so glad you are enjoying the TR!

Torchwood is a tv series -a spin off from Dr Who.

James Masters appeared in several episodes of the second series - he was fab!! Kinda Spike-like and British still!:thumbsup2

Day 11 ~ July 29, 2009
Cozumel

I woke up around 8:30 and watched from the verandah as we pulled into Cozumel, Mexico.
ry%3D480

ry%3D480

The water was SOOOO blue!
ry%3D480

ry%3D480

At this point, the laundry was starting to pile up again, so I went to the laundry room to throw in a load. Well, when I went back to get it, I noticed all of Tom's white t-shirts had weird yellow-like patches on them. WTH?? At this point, I wasn't even surprised...it was just typical at this point! I never did figure out what it was but I'm just glad it didn't get on any of Tom's other clothes.

Once Tom got up, we wanted to get breakfast but every place we tried was just too overwhelmingly crowded that we were afraid to even go in. So we just went without food that morning. :( I was really upset BUT I didnt' let it get me down. We had learned out lesson yesterday and did NOT want to check out Cozumel on our own before our excursion. So we went back to our room, Tom got his book and I got my bathing suit. We went to the Quiet Cove pool and I had a little swim and sunbathing time, which was nice because there was hardly anyone else around. I pretty much had the pool to myself, I probably wouldn't have gone in if there were other people in already.
ry%3D480

At around 11:00, we got some early lunch (since we hadn't eaten yet that day) at Pluto's.
ry%3D480

I spotted Michelle and her daughter playing ping pong and found out that we were on the same excursion as her!! Great! See you there!!! .....or will we.....??

We had planned to do the Fury Catamaran, Snorkel, Beach Party! It got a great rating in the Passporter and we had decided on this almost immediately when we started planning the cruise. I was sooo excited to snorkel AND for the complimentary margaritas and beer at the beach party! FINALLY, we were going to have some FUN!!

Our excursion tickets said to meet at the Promenade Lounge at 12:15!

Well, we went back to the room, got all ready to go, it's like 12:00 and Tom's looking at his elbow and breaks the news to me......

"I really think I need to go to the doctor."

I'm the kind of person to just ignore my ailments where Tom is the type to harp on things and always think the worst...so I was kind of hoping he would just forget about his elbow but it was reeeallly starting to look BAD! The redness and swelling were spreading and it was hot to the touch. So, we go to the medical center but it was closed.

At this point I got it in my head that he could possibly have an infection, which scared me because not that long ago, I saw an episode of Oprah where this woman had an infection that basicaly ended with her limbs being amputated. SO I accepted the fact that our excursion just wasn't going to happen and we needed to see the doc asap.

Since the medical center was closed, we had to go to Guest Services, where I ran past Michelle who was on her way to the excursion meeting place! "See you there!!!" she says. :sad2:

So Tom got on the phone with the nurse who said he could wait until the center is opened OR she could call the doctor and it would be more money. At that point, he just wanted to see a doctor asap so they told us to meet them there in a few minutes.

ry%3D480

I'm not sure this picture really captures it, but you can sort of see the redness running halfway up his forearm!
ry%3D480

So the doctor came in and Tom told him all the symptons. The first thing he did was take a blood test, which made him a little woozy!
ry%3D480

So when the doctor came back, he said it was NOT an infection, which was a relief. He figured it could either be just that he injured it and it kept being agitated or GOUT! Well he didn't have the gout test but luckily the treatment was the same for either, which was basically anti-inflamitory pills.

We got the meds and had the nurse fill out the paperwork for us to give to Guest Services so they could refund us our excursion for today AND for Tom's parasailing on Castaway Cay. :sad2: The doc thought it wasn't a good idea to do anything that could injury any further. So while all that was going on, I HAD to look at the positive side of all this, which was the fact that I can take pics of the things I normally wouldn't have seen!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

We were about the walk out the door...WAIT!! Doctor, can I drink on these pills? Thankfully he said yes!! He suggested to drink just half the bottle instead of the whole thing. ;)

Welll, doctor's orders! Let's get a drink!
This was the drink of the day. It was some sort of mojito. Tom said it wasn't really that good.
ry%3D480

Well, at this point, the boat was EMPTY! (Which was nice.)

Since the pool was empty, and we already had our suits on for our excursion, we decided what Tom really needed was a soak in the hot tub! So we soaked and swam and hung out for the rest of the afternoon.

We met Minnie! She looks gorgeous in her floral dress!
ry%3D480

We found ice cream for the first time, which I wish we would have known about earlier...
ry%3D480

After a while, we went back to the room, showered and changed and decided to go back to Diversions for another game of checkers and then we just walked around the ship.

ry%3D480

The first time we left Beat Street, I thought the windows of the building in the decoration was the elevator buttons!! So I recreated it for a picture!
ry%3D480

We walked around the outside of Deck 4 for a while. Hadn't been there since our drill on day 1.
ry%3D480

Hey look! Shuffleboard! I've always wanted to play, but as you can tell, we're not the kind of people that will sit around and wait for other people to finish so we can jump in. So it was perfect that no one was around so we could play!!

It was fun but it was hard!! So Tom is instructin me, "You have to push it really hard!" About 10 mins in Tom realizes something..."Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be doing this!!!" The doctor had JUST told him to try not to use his elbow to much and here we are flinging pucks with sticks!
ry%3D480

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

So we continue walking.
ry%3D480

We come out to glass elevators on Deck 4 and are just kind of hanging around, looking down at the lobby and who comes running down the stairs, decked out in his pirate gear but Brent!! I was soooo excited to see him! A few times during this trip, we passed him by while he was talking to other people and every time I saw him I got so excited! He's like a DCL celebrity!

So the first thing that I could think to say to him was (i'm not even kidding) "Look at you!" He just looked so funny in his pirate outfit! He even had eyeliner on! He was also carrying a stack of VHS tapes. Even though he looked like he was in a hurry, he stopped and chatted for a good amount of time. He saw my pin and asked if it was my birthday. :headache: NO Brent!! Don't you know your own pins?! It's our honeymoon! We asked him what the deal was with the VHS tapes and he said he had all this old footage that he needed to transfer onto DVD, ya know, history of the compay, things like that. Ugh, I would have loved to get my hands on those tapes!!

So that was a really nice encounter and he was nice enough to take a picture with me.
ry%3D480

Since we still had some more time to kill, we went back to the "section" and Tom got another Boddington's.
ry%3D480

When we went back to the room to get ready for dinner, the sun was setting...but the sky was starting to look a little foreboding!
ry%3D480

Up Next: Pirate Dinner at Animator's Palate and Pirate Party.

Ok...humm...ok...where do I begin.

I am not going to say "I am sorry" anymore. Let's just consider it a standard for each of my posts so my fingers dont hurt from typing it too much!:lmao:

The water was SO beautiful--sorry you had to miss out on it---woops:headache: forgot my own rule!

On the bright side, no cruise is complete without a trip to the doctor on the ship. It's like behind the scenes ugly room they don't want you to see..the janitor's closet of the ship. I hope Disney's was nice! I had to go on my honeymoon for SUN POISIONING on the first day...nice...perscription? STAY OUT OF THE SUN(yea right!) So---at least your DH's didnt seem bad. Has it bothered him since?

Also, who is Brent? Can't wait to see about Animators and Piarate Party! Two things I am anxious to hear more about.

......I am working on puttin together a WDW birthday bash for a friend of mine and her 18 yr old daughter's birthday - set for sometime during May 2011.
Also, I am headin out on a Halloween DCl cruise next yr & if I remember right, your friends (screen name Podsnel..hope I said that right) are on that cruise as well. My pre & post days will be spent at POFQ.

If ya guys wanna come out and play w/us during any of the above dates, feel free to give me a pm.

Or mabey BSM sometime in the future??

Why? Cuz you 2 come across as a fun couple & good grief! If ya ever need a Brent "wanna be," look no further  . Per se, just read "My very 1st trip to WDW... trip report" (listed below...as it also contains video and pics from the cruise) & if that's spells you two, then give me a pm. I feel that I may just be the medicine you two need :goodvibes.

hope I am saying that right w/o coming across as being Goofy nor offensive:goodvibes.

Funny comment about my WDW / DCL trip from Jan: I popped my right knee cap outta joint w/o knowing it (....LLOOONNGG STTTOORRYYY).....doped myself up with acenometifin (Tylenol) & kept right on going enjoying my vacation. When I got home, I used Icyhot & a wrap. 2 weeks later - knee cap popped back into place! Go figure.

Great trip report tho - I like your writing.

it looks like you guys had fun having the "ship to yourselves" and exploring-that is awesome!
that arm certainly looked inflamed if anything else and considerably worse since WDW- did you have it looked at when you got home? hope those lovely medicinal boat drinks helped to numb the discomfort!

Pictures do not do justice to my heinously inflamed elbow of doom.

I've been neglecting the TR - some more random thoughts -

Dolphins - they are as cute and awesome as you think they are. The place was a little questionable. Like it wasn't really a Dolphin Excursion so much as some dudes who got some dolphins.
I'm ashamed to admit that when asked to describe what they felt like the first word that came to mind was "smooth" and the second was "delicious." I'm not even much of a seafood fan. :confused3
If you think that makes me a bad person I can say with almost 100% certainty that I would not eat a Panda. Hope that helps.

Turtle Breeding Pool - smells exactly like you would imagine 500 turtles having sex would smell like. If you can't imagine that, you are lucky.

Palo - undoubtedly the high point of the dining and worth every penny. I didn't order the Panda cakes. See? I care!

The Sick Bay - much like the Dolphin place, the doctor was more like some dude who has some medicine. He was British though, so the accent did impress and intimidate. On Castaway Cay we spotted him tooling around on a bicycle and it made me wonder if your "doctor" one day might not be your "bartender" the next.

Buffy Season 8 is excellent! You should all give it a try and support your local comic shop! Plus Buffy kisses a girl and Dawny is briefly a centaur. Which leads to this touching moment between Dawn and Xander -

I know, I know...it's like one thing after the next!! We just did NOT have luck on our side on this trip! I'll also note that on the cruise, Tom broke both his glasses AND sunglasses. I appreciate your sympathy!

Yes it was great to be able to see the medical center, which otherwise, I wouldn't have seen...if there must be a brightside! It was nice but kind of smelled like vomit. Sun poisoning, huh? That STINKS! Once Tom had that first dose of meds, it was almost immediately better. And it hasn't bothered him since. Thanks for asking!

That's funny that you'll be on the cruise with Ellen (podnel). Is there a meet thread? I've never had the good fortune of vacationing with her but I hear she's a blast!

Unfortunately, we most likely won't do a cruise again and we have our next two WDW trips already planned (before our APs expire) and after that we need to hold off on the vacations for a while. We need to buy a house so we can have the babies!!!

it looks like you guys had fun having the "ship to yourselves" and exploring-that is awesome!

It was SO nice to have the ship to ourselves. It had been exactly one week since the first picture I took and the fact that it was not only not better, but much worse, really made us worry! Yes, drinks always help! Tom has NOT had any follow up on his elbow. It's been fine since we got home, though. Thanks for asking!

So when the doctor came back, he said it was NOT an infection, which was a relief. He figured it could either be just that he injured it and it kept being agitated or GOUT!

After we met you for the first time (when we took the picture with Kenny and Michelle), my wife turned to me and said "What a fun couple. Tom has gout." (you need to ignore the ADD nature of our conversations).

I didn't think much of it at the time, but now...

(BTW, Sheri is a physician)

I get that from all the ladies.:cool1:

If it was gout I really hope they come up with a better name for it. Gout sounds disgusting. I'm calling it Hammock Elbow and that's that.

I have to say missing Cozumel.. not a bad thing.. you seen 1 mexican port ya seen them all LOL.

Glad Tom was still able to drink that would have really killed the cruise mojo LOL.

Meeting Brent up close and personall how neat he's a cutie! Watch out his fan club may ask you to be the monthly speaker now LOL

Tom-Hammock Elbow... it could catch on! I like it better then gout, sound like something an ol sailor would get LOL

Great picture! (I may have to sneak off and raid Papaboogie's comic collection! :cool2: )

This cruise report really has everything - dolphins being kissed, unruly children, turtles mating, dodgy food and now possible gout-y elbows! I can't wait for more!popcorn::

BTW - watched Titanic the other night....thought about you guys all the way through....:scared1:

Also, who is Brent?

Brent is the cruise director.

After we met you for the first time (when we took the picture with Kenny and Michelle), my wife turned to me and said "What a fun couple. Tom has gout." (you need to ignore the ADD nature of our conversations).

I didn't think much of it at the time, but now...

Well why didn't she say something!?! :rotfl: That was a few days before, too! Sheri!! (Most of our conversations are ADD in nature...welll, my side of them anyway.)

Yes! That's what we were saying too! It does not SOUND like something good at all! Hammock-elbow sounds much better.

Hahah, yes what more could you ask for in a tirp report!!

I caught Titanic a couple of weeks ago and I'm really glad I didn't watch it right before the cruise. That movie is SCARY! Honestly, the way this trip was going, though, I wouldn't have been surprised.......

Can I ask a silly question? That I think you'd give me a pretty straight answer to...

I'm a little skeeved out by the whole "touching sea life" idea. And for Grand Cayman, well, there's feed Sting Rays and Dolphin Encounters. I know there are other things, but do you think it's worth talking myself into for a Dolphin encounter? Or should I stick to going to Hell? (That sounds bad...)

I'll be honest, it was a little gross to get into that water with the dolphins. It was cool to see them up close but I don't know if you'd think it's worth it if you're skeeved out!

Alright thanks! I'll stick to the land or beach that day then :goodvibes

Nikki - I did the dolphin excursion in Cozumel and loved it! However, we were not in a "pool" we were in the ocean and the dolphin area was fenced off. Not saying that the water was any cleaner but I didn't feel icky being in the water. The place we went was pretty nice. And the dolphin keepers seemed pretty knowledgeable.

Doesn't it just seem like shuffleboard is a mandatory activity on a ship? I couldn't wait to play on our cruise! Just had to do it!!

Hope hubby's elbow is better!

Great updates, Nikki! I'm glad Tom's elbow wasn't infected (although it definitely looks like it was) -- and that the meds helped quickly and that it didn't stop him from enjoying some Boddington's. ;) The dolphin pictures are really cute...but I'm with you...I think it would be icky to be in that water. Yuck. I love trivia stuff and always say I'm going to go to do something like that but I never have...I wouldn't have known Troy's jersey number, either. Shoot, my DH played college basketball and I don't even know HIS jersey number! :rolleyes1
