WDW Commando Club

Just a little trivia note- tonight's episode of "the Middle" is at WDW, I was there the day they were filming it ( back in March). It was the day I did the backstage tour. So I could be in the background tonight. They had the trailers set up behind the Emporium as we went to the Utilodors. I saw the older son going into the trailer.
But they were filming the gate screen as the tour group was waiting by the photo spot at train garden ( you guys know what I'm talking about)

That is cool you got to be there for it. I've heard of famous people being at WDW the same time as us, but I never saw them. I did thought I saw the Agent Smithcfrom the Matrix once at Hollywood Studies at LMA Stunt Show, but I didn't get a picture. He wasn't traveling with an entourage, so maybe it was just his identical twin.

Hello Commandos,
Been seriously over working and have not booked a single ADR. Free Dining will be going on during my trip so that will affect my choices (the ease of getting them atleast, I always stalk for what I don't get, :lmao:). I just, IDK, I have been in a meh kind of mood. I need to de-stress, so I came back to my Commando family to get some excitement back. MaMadduck, we still on for November right? If so let's coordinate some stuff ;) I'm so happy to see new Commandos and hear about everyone's experiences :goodvibes Happy Planning all. I will be back soon to update what itinerary I decide on.

Been feeling kinda blah here as well. I'm so ready to go back, but next trip isn't until October. We had a great Spring Break trip at BCV, but it didn't last.

That Middle episode was the stuff of nightmares! That's the downside to being a planner, it's easy to feel like a failure if you don't get everything on the list done.

I have a commando conundrum for you! On our first night, there are MK EMH to 2 am. Our flight leaves at 6:20 am so we'll already be exhausted, but I hate to miss out on all that extra time for the mountains, mine train, etc.

But I also really wanted to make rope drop for EPCOT the next day, because with the tiering system, I think that's my only shot at getting on Soarin and Test Track.

What to do? :scratchin

That's a tough one. In the past, I would have done the EMH until 2 AM and then up the next morning. Now, I'm too old. You could nap midday at the resort, or if the room not ready, then sleep poolside.

I hope you were on the show, can't say I watch it, but I do hope you made it on:thumbsup2

When are your dates again? I think we need to do a Commando role cal for Oct.Nov.Dec.....I'll try to pin it or something.

I haven't got any plans down yet, I have got anyone wanting to go with me yet. My AP expire dec 1/14 so I'm thinking somewhere around Nov.8 to Nov 22.

Call roll! sound off:

Try to sleep on the flight it has to be at least 3hrs, if you have to resort to some alcohol drinking before 12 it does not make you a alcoholic you are a pirate::thumbsup2

There must have been some kind of glitch ( big surprise) withFP when we booked for our last trip in March. We got Soarin and Test Track on the same day! But the only thing I would suggest for you if you don't do rope drop is single rider line for TT.

Somehow I feel a lot older this trip than I did two years ago! I did think about a late afternoon nap. I'm traveling with my son (12), nephew (11) and Mom (72) (my husband's not a Disney guy) so it will depend on how well they're holding up.

I admit, since the boys don't care where we eat, 4 of our 5 ADRs serve booze!

Sweet! Maybe we'll luck out. 8 more days and I'll find out!

I would sleep on the plane and at the resort and go to EMH and RD. I may not stay until 2 am though. I would go prior to EMH, stay until about 1 and then get back to my resort and nap for RD:thumbsup2 Let us know what you decide.

Does anyone know anyone who works for Small World Vacations? I would really like to chat with someone in regards to working for them. I already have a email listing the requirements of becoming one of their TA's. If anyone knows someone here on the boards please let me know, or let them know about me. TIA:goodvibes

Working on filling in the extra time during the 1st day:scared1:, I always say timing is everything and I'm putting it to the test:rolleyes1, while we are AK in between our FP+'s there is a little time to fill, with our locations of our FP's we should easily be able to also see Flights of Wonder & FOLK that just reopened in Africa near the safari, AK will be a walk out of 1 thing and right to something else :thumbsup2, depending on what time we get out of Shula's depends on what we do at Epcot (we will have approx 1.5-2hrs):confused3, I am quite confident we will be able to add Wishes, Jungle Cruise, POTC, Tiki Room & possibly Country Bears & Haunted Mansion along with the Parade in to our 2.5 hrs at MK the 1st night.

Day 2 will depend on what we get done at Epcot on Day1 but a few showcase shows are on the list:thumbsup2

Day3 we added Kona's for lunch, very confident if Day1 is successful and with our FP+'s and rope drop we should breeze through MK:confused3, I do think it would be appropriate if we end our visit with the Flag ceremony at 5:thumbsup2

I'm not worried about the adults, we will also have 2 8yr olds and 3 teens, but they all love everything Disney, so hopefully it all goes smoothly :good vibes, at the end of the trip I will be called Walt or The Park Nazi:lmao: But no one will be able to say we didn't get to almost everything:rolleyes1

Anyone going to WDW in the next couple months there are a few rides you may want to do, they are are either in line to be cancelled or will be majorly refurbed

- Maelstorm strong rumor of becoming some kind of Frozen ride

- Great Movie Ride, It is rumored that it will be majorly refurbed or done away with, IMO it really does need to be updated, I like the ride but most kids have no idea who most of the people are:confused3

- Captain EO, Some like it, I'm not a fan, but the building is big and could be used on something that more interesting

- Jamming Jungle Parade in AK, I haven't heard anything lately but rumor was it was to end this month:confused3

I have not been to Disney since FP+, and we have always gone in the summer. Well I am ready for less heat so we are planning to go this Christmas (I know....crowded). I follow this thread because I am a Commando. As a Commando, the old FP system worked well. I am finding planning with Christmas crowds and the new FP+ a challenge. I hope this old Commando is up for it. Thanks to all those on this thread and their wisdom. I know that many of my Commando skills have been learned here. :thumbsup2

Jedi Jen, are you going for Christmas week? If so, you are braver than I am!

Yep. :crowded: I don't know if it is bravery or naivety. Dec. 19-26 at WDW and Dec. 27-29 at US. Usually in the summer it is too hot for us in the afternoon. We do RD and have a TS lunch and go back to the room for the afternoon. I am not much of a night person and my kids are old enough that we don't need a break in the afternoon. I always wish I had more time to do the non-big attractions/small things in the park. I am hoping the cooler weather will allow more time for just roaming around in the afternoon. I am thinking that we will be happy to just be there taking it easy in the afternoon. I am a little concerned about all the longer lines on smaller rides like Figment and PoTC, but maybe that fourth (5th, 6th) FP+ option will come in handy and we will get some bonuses there.:dance3:

I think you might be getting worried about nothing, since you can now make FP way in advance this is where you want to get the big rides in , this makes space for the smaller rides, that at RD have no line what so ever this is when you want to hit them up unless there are bigger rides to get done:confused3

I will be attending the 1st night of MVMCP so I will have the run down of whats going on there, as far as US that is a foreign place to me so I can give you nothing at all useful there:sad:

Thanks for the tips Commando!:goodvibes No problem about US. We are staying onsite which has unlimited express pass (which is essentially an unlimited FP for every ride) so I am not as concerned about it.

Hope you have a great MVMCP experience. :santa: I have never done one of those.
