WDW Commando Club

In less then 48hrs there will be WDW Commando presence at WDW:thumbsup2, in the last 12 hours I have learned a few things that I must add to our quest, a friend just got back and said they were on The Mine train:cool1: This is high level must check out:thumbsup2, as for other sources, a new show being tested for the next few weeks at AK Dinoland that stars Prof. Parker Woodson & Val the Velocoraptor & in HS they have a cupcake for Earth day that will be around a couple weeks that is pretty much worms in dirt, but I have to have one:thumbsup2

Each day I'll be hitting the morning EMH at the parks, as of now the latest park is only open to 11pm I hope this changes otherwise I will be too rested for the next day :

:banana::banana:
Excellent ! Don't forget to get your FP+ as soon as you get a magic band/ AP tix for the whole time your there, and only choose the highest demand stuff, don't waste then on shows, parades, fireworks or something you know will have a short wait time anyways. Also with the newer changes, get early times during the day so you can get the "4th" FP+ for later in the day.
And coarse do EMH rope drop rides as you've already planned.

If you have problems with FP+, tell guest services because it's only by AP holders/ and commandos that they'll know the system doesn't work!

And have a great time!

This time tomorrow I'll be onsite I hope to hit either MK open till 11 or MK open till 11:30 it all depends on how long The Magic Express takes we will be landing around 8pm:confused3 Then it's check in then buy your AP's then maybe a park if not it's DTD:confused3

our 1st day we will be starting at MK, going to Epcot in the afternoon then Dinner at Ohana's and most likely back to MK. the FP+ may be idea for our return back to MK, might go for SM, BTM, & BuzzSRS :confused3

I will let everyone know our choices when we get back:thumbsup2

November hours are here so it's plan plan plan for me! I am kind of excited/ kind of leery. I'm getting a AP but I am confused about Magic Bands and FP+. . . so I order my band and then upgrade my tix when I get to the park and the AP's will be on my Magic Band:confused3 Also, FP+, I can't deal with all the changes, lol

When does that 4th FP start? I tried to get it 2 weeks ago and it didn't work.

As I typically do, I have been reading my book version of the Unofficial Guide. I keep reading about taking breaks and having "easy days" etc. I haven't ever done that. Well, I do pick an earlier bedtime for some days or later park start after a late night but that's it. How imperative do fellow commandos feel "rest days" or "rest hours" may be?

My spreadsheet has only one "sleep in day" and a few short resort breaks between parks ...have hoppers.

We only go to the parks every other day now. On those park days, we usually do ADRs before the park opens so we can get in, get character photos, eat, and be ready to go ahead of the crowd.

I think it only started last week, something I saw on the news page. It's still now going to solved some of the issues but it's at least a step in the right direction. That's why commandos need to keep providing feedback.

I also plan a rest day now too, especially when there's new people or young ones with us. It's better to take a day off than DRAGGING kids/ people through the parks and them hating it.

Okay, I have decided I will stay at a Value. . . it will either be Pop or AoA. Pop is the cheapest, but I like the pools and atmosphere of AoA more. BUT I would want a 1 bedroom (Lion King or Nemo). The suits are however double the cost. sigh, Disney problems.

Got back from WDW a few days ago , I'm not too fond of the FP+ system but I did get it to work in my favor:thumbsup2

IMO the best time to get FP"s are that day or the night before mainly because plans change all the time (we were in 3 parks everyday)
If you make them way in advance choose wisely:scratching If you are going to see Princess Anna do a way in advance FP+ this had up to a 210 min wait:scared1:

The last day we didn't do any FP+ and did quite well without them, it got really crowded at night since they had Marching bands, Dance Squads & Choirs competitions going on :faint: We used the FP Kiosks in the park except the one day (DW did it on her phone)

The morning EMH's were pretty light considering it was a busy week, in the 1st 90mins (1hr EMH & 1st half hour reg hour) this is what we got done

AK - Safari, EE x2 & Dinosour

HS - TSM x 2, Rock n Roll Roller-coaster & Star Tours

Epcot reg day no EMH, 1st hr TT x2 & Mission Space (green side)

We did not do the MK EMH, AK had one the same day so figured it would be lighter at AK:confused3, we had 2 morning EMH at AK

When we used the FP+ system we made them for MK evening, (we ended up here every night since it was open the latest)

This is what we got

- Big Thunder Mountain 6:30-7:30
- Space Mountain 8:30-9:30
- Buzz Lightyear 9:45 - 10:45

Got into MK around 8 one night and they could only give us 2 because of the time.
- Space Mountain 8:35 - 9:35
- Jungle Cruise 9:45 - 10:45

This one we did on the phone app the night before
- Big Thunder Mountain 5:30- 6:30
- Peter Pan 7:15- 8:15
- Space Mountain 9-10

As of now IMO it is best time to make your FP+ is for the evening

The Mine Train was still not running, although on our 2nd day the walls were down, it looks pretty neat, this is another thing I would make a way in advance FP for once it opens::yes::

So glad I found this thread! I'm an over-planner. I went with a group of 13 two years ago (combo of never been/haven't been since the '80s) and they all thought I was nuts when I gave them schedules, but boy were they glad later!

This August it's just 4 of us. I've already made evening ADRs at parks other than those with morning EMH. I figured we'd do the first couple hours at the EMH park, then hop to another one that's less crowded and schedule my 3 FPs before/after dinner.

Now that you can add more FPs once the 3 are up, I'm wondering if I should book my 3 FPs early at the morning EMH park to give maximum time to get additional ones later.

Has anyone booked FPs for the morning hours at EMH parks under this new system? Are a lot of morning times available? Would getting a FP during EMH times be a waste since the crowds are limited to on-site guests anyway?

thanks!

:welcome: You are member #257:cool1: I would agree with your 1st thought and make the Fps for the park you go to after the EMH, depending what park you are in, if you are in MK once they open the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train opens it might be helpful to have some FP's lined up since MK has so many rides that have long lines:scared1:

Once they make it so you can make FP'S for multiple parks for the day (it could be any day now:rolleyes1) Things will be a little smoother for those who PH:thumbsup2

The only thing bad about after you use all 3 FP"s and, can get another is this can backfire, if you make them all for the morning, when you go to get another, it could be sold out or have a bad time that you can't make, nothing is guaranteed so choose wisely:thumbsup2

Thanks! That's true, they may change the single park rule. I don't know why they would want to discourage people from paying extra for PH.

Looks good:thumbsup2, Just remember by the time you book FP+ they could change the system a bit ( Tiers or Multi parks maybe:confused3)

Wow it looks like I'll be at WDW at this time also:banana::thumbsup2

My fear is that once the Mine Train is ready they'll start tiering MK. But the extra FP was a nice surprise, so maybe they'll get rid of the tiers? :goodvibes

Welcome. What time did you do FP? We don't PH, and we did ours in the afternoon this last trip, before the 4th FP and i thought it went well. We had the ADR Breakfast before park open, lower crowd levels in AM, FPs in afternoon, snack, and then an early dinner ADR. The crowd cleared out so we finished up with small crowds. I would have liked that 4th FP for the end of the day.

The main thing I miss is not be able to get more than 1 FP for the same ride/ attraction.

From what I have read it looks like The 7 Dwarfs Mine Train opening day will be May 28:thumbsup2

Hi! I haven't made my FP+s yet, I have to wait until June 4th, but those are my plans at the moment. Of course, if they change the tiering or the one park rule between now and then, everything will change.

Your plan sounds good, although I didn't make any breakfast ADRs. We have the regular DDP, so we're going to try to eat a quick breakfast in the suite, QS for lunch and TS for dinner.

I know what you mean about the no doubling up rule. I have Journey into Imagination in there which I really don't care about but with the tiering there wasn't really anything left.

One thing I'm not clear about... can different members of your group get different FPs? My 72-year old mother is pretty game, but is not going to want to go on RnRC.

I know I had to do a step with the family members, but don't remember now. Like when you make ADRs online, you get a prompt to select your family members. I think there was an extra step, but I just can't remember. DW and I have our separate accounts linked, but then I manage my dds accounts as minors.

I'm pretty sure you can make different FP+ for anyone in your party

Our next trip is in 38 days we have not made any FP+ yet since we are waiting for the release of the Star War weekend event times:confused3, they are really waiting to the last minute to release them:rolleyes1

For our Aug trip I have not even made any ADR's yet, we have a few non park days (Legoland, SeaWorld/Aquticia , Busch Gardens) to squeeze in, but most of the places we will eat don't fill up all that quickly, since they are not in the parks.

My Disney plate is overflowing, Dates & tickets for MVMCP came out today and like planned we will be there for the 1st MVMCP of the year:cool1:

I was hoping that would come after the June trip:scared1:, so now it looks like I now have 3 active trips to plan for:hyper: One thing by the end of the year I should have all the in's and out's of FP+ mastered:thumbsup2

I've been playing with the FP+ system now that I have a AP I can go to any day available

As of May 28th you can get a FP+ for 7 Dwarfs Mine Train if anyone is interested or needs to modify any FP's also noticed that the Frozen M&G is pretty much sold out till June 15th:scared1: If they are on your list and cannot get a FP+ I strongly suggest to make this your 1st thing to do after rope drop::yes:: otherwise it will be a long wait, when we were there a couple weeks ago we saw the stand by line at 210 mins (that's 3.5hrs) you can do a lot in that amount of time:rolleyes1

Today I put my 8yr son to the test and he passed with flying colors:thumbsup2
I asked him where would he hear the following tune

Zee Boom Boom Boom Zee Boom Boom Boom:confused3, he said on the safari ride at AK:banana: He said it is a catchie tune:woohoo: Just shows that the kids do pay attention to detail, considering they only do the radio for about a minute, makes me feel good about planning more trips knowing he is paying attention:cool1:
