WDW Commando Club

Good morning fellow commando's :cool1:

I am ordering the matching t-shirts for our trip next month

I'm glad that my post on this thread prevented someone else from being taken in by these scam artists. Haultruckeraintfat, I'm glad that you were able to avoid their attempts to get access to your computer. Welcome to the boards!!!. Have a great day!

The good part of this is that you still have a month before you make your ADR's, do you have ideas of where you want to go:confused3, for planning maybe start with a list of things you don't want to do, with that everything else is on the table to fill in the blanks when you start your planning:woohoo:

For encouragement it looks like your DH is doing a good job, to get you motivated with the "wing it " plan:lmao: Maybe ask what he wants to do during the trip, you might get yourself into gear after his answer:confused3

Commando may be a bit of an understatement for me... :rotfl2:

I have to make sure 4 other adults are okay with my plans before I cement them with ADRs...
I started mapping out my plans last night though and now I'm almost done. I guess I found my inspiration :goodvibes
winging it was never an option. lol

Glad to hear you got motivated:goodvibes I knew that "Wing
it" talk would probably get to you:scared1:

Well Done:thumbsup2

I find myself in a unusual dilemma, next year we are trying to get together 2 trips to WDW:yay: 1 will be a normal trip & 1 on the fly and off site:confused3

the two weeks we are looking at are 6/23-6/30 & 11/3-11/10:confused3

As of now I'm thinking the June trip will be the Off site trip, this is my reasoning:confused3

My wife and son want to go to LegoLand, in Nov it will be dark by 5 and I don't know what kind of hours they will be open:confused3

I priced the Autotrain for a round trip it would be $1168, now if we only went down to FL it would be $385 (have no idea why it's like 2.5 more coming home:confused3), but since it light out longer I would suffer with the drive home (stopping over night) With gas, food and a hotel I would still be saving $400:yay: I'm not a big fan of night travel, so if I'm going to drive a far distance it will be during the day:eek:

Park hours at WDW are longer in June then Nov, I wouldn't be able to do EMH but would still have more park hours then Nov.

Food - Disney Rewards will cover most of the meals since it will all be OOP, plus I have a $25 coupon for Shaula's & House of Blues:woohoo:

Hopper Passes - I have enough Hopper passes for 2 Adults for 5 days, Would just need to get one for my son.

Being over I figure I can do the week of June for around $1500 complete:confused3

This is not usally the way I roll but I'm talking a extra trip to WDW:cool1: Being off site with no DP or EMH I feel I can addapt and make make some extreme, off the deep end planning and have a action packed week all the same:confused3

Just wanted to get some input to see if it sounds like it will work or if I'm day dreaming:confused3 Reality check:eek:

I actually have a pic of them holding their cards before the show started.

:thumbsup2 Nice, They look Happy with the score:woohoo:

I got to get my wife to try and find these cards she say's my son got at the Flame Tree:confused3 to see if they are the ones:eek:

As you all know last month I was able to score all 23 of the 25 Transportation Cards Available:cool1: Well one thing I always follow is Failure is not a option, I had 23 of the 25, altough that is the max you will be able to find, it was still bothering me since we did not have the full set:rolleyes1

After doing some homework on what the cards looked like and a little info about them and making some inquiries, I am now Happy to say Mission Accomplished:cool1: The other 2 I needed to complete the set arrived today:yay:

:woohoo: Glad you were able to get them all!!

This might intrest some:confused3, I got some Disney Trading Card info from a very reliable source (person I was able to obtain the 2 unavailible cards from) and it seems that Transportation Cards are not the only cards you can get from CM's currently:confused3, The other sets are

- Disney Too Short To Ride Cards (looks like there are 17 of them)

- Disney Wild About Safety Cards (18 with 3 bounus cards)

I've never seen any of these cards, I never heard of them before yesterday:eek: But it looks like I have a new hunt for our next trip:banana: (provided they are still doing them then)

Has anyone heard or seen these cards

:confused3

Okay, now this is one more thing to add to my hunting list for next trip!!

Your plan sounds workable to me. Perhaps if you plan a 3rd trip around the end of Aug, when the free dining traditionally comes up it may save you enough money alone to warrant the 3rd trip to WDW. Worth a thought.

3 trips would be pushing it:lmao: although there would be no objections from my wife and son:cool1: I am planning on taking a vacation the 3rd week of August (it is the backup date for WDW if the other 2 don't pan out) otherwise it will be a week in Va (Busch Gardens & Kings Dominion):yay:

But everything is on the table right now:confused3

Wow did you read about the new ADR policy going into effect on Oct 26, seems you need to give a Credit Card number (like you do for CRT, HDR etc)when you make your ADR's for Sig & Character meals, if you do not cancel your ressie 24hrs prior and do not show up they will charge your CC $10 per person:confused3

I don't really have a problem with this, since I only make ADR's I know I can keep:rolleyes1

To me the new policy sounds fair. Where I can see problems with it is with young families who are just starting out, and may not have a major CC to secure their ADR's. It will be interesting to see how their new policy changes how people make their ADR's. We are the same in that we don't book anything that we can't follow through on. DH may be changing jobs in the coming months, so we'll see how that plays out. Mutley the new hound is working out well for us, but has to learn if he's lonely at night to climb on one of the kids beds and not start rooing (howling) for attention. First greyhound we've ever adopted over the years that actually howls.

I like the new policy - seems like there are a lot of empty tables at sig and character dining places because people don't show up. And that's not fair to those who really wanted to make a res, but couldn't get one.

I'm sure I would get flamed for that on most boards, but I think most commando's agree that if you make plans, you stick to them (for the most part)! :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 i think they should charge more and make it for all adrs. some of our adrs i made late, i had times like 6:45pm. we would show up at 5:30 and they get us in our seats in 5 min. and there are plenty of tables. but when i went to make the adr, there was no avail. :confused3 the only reason i would not show up for an adr is if there is an illness. i make the adr, im there. one year, we had an adr at cry. pal for breakfast. i get a stomach virus and i couldnt even look at food much less eat. i sat on a bench in the hub while my dw and dd went to the adr.

Dave was getting worried about you, glad you made it back:goodvibes

Well it looks like we all pretty much agree on the new ADR policy, if you plan to be there you will be there:confused3 I do see the point of not everyone has a CC but I'm sure they give you a option if you don't have one:confused3 Guess we will find out when someone makes a ADR after the 26th:confused3

I have to give a CC # for a ressie to get a haircut (it's fairly cheap and alot of people are always in line) so this is all fair:woohoo: I do think if they do it for some they should do it for all of them:confused3

I did read that 1 sig resturant was charging $25 if you are a no show, (Victoria & Alberts)

I've seen some other threads talking about this and there is some conflict (comining up with any excuse on why they shouldn't do this), most posters are in favor of it, but you always have some that are not:scared1:

Mutley I like that name:thumbsup2, reminds me of the cartoon character, but a totally different breed of dog:cool1:

That's why we kept name and not changed it to something else. His racing name is Medicine Hat, and the person that owned him called him Mutt as a nickname. The volunteer that was helping us on Sunday called him Muttley and since we remember the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons with Muttley and Dick Dastardley in them it stuck. D**M dog took over our bed last night and growled when we tried to move him. Safe to say that he was over ridden and got moved anyway. I really do hope that they do put this policy in place across the board with ADR's not only at WDW, but DL as well. I find that far too many take advantage of the no charge advance ressies, and feel free to change them at whim. Perhaps this would encourage more people to be more careful when placing ADR's and only book the ones that they really want. Rather than booking something, then changing it multiple times before the trip.

FWIW, I did receive a response to the email I sent DL guest relations in regards to the problems we had during Gay Days. They did apologize for the problems we witnessed there. And offered us some hopper passes to DL for a future date. On Sat, I did as they requested, and sent them in our hopper passes, along with a copy of the email they sent me, and a cover letter. In it, I explained that our next trip would be to WDW instead of DL, as we wanted to explore the WDW parks. Whether I'll get anything back from them is anyone's guess. I didn't send the email to get compensation from them, just to make them aware of what went on that weekend. Even if I get some good info on WDW I'd be happy, but I personally know that I can get just as good, if not better info here than with Disney directly. We'll see how it goes.

I'm glad to hear that they sent a response to your email:woohoo: And if they want to offer you hoppers (take them) if they are for DL you can always sell them and put the money towards your WDW trip:goodvibes. I'm sure you were not the only one that ran into some problems during this event, they would rather send passes than get bad reviews:confused3
