Has anyone been the week after Thanksgiving? How is the weather? I am worried about attractions being closed?

We're packing today!! It's quite cool already up here, so we can pack most of our stuff and have it waiting. We don't fly out until the 27th, but it takes a whole day to drive down to the airport:scared1::laughing: So we're going 2 days early so we can visit with family as well.

I've changed one of our meals; cancelled our DTD visit for our first day, as it finally hit me just how early we'll have to get up, and what a long day it's going to be. We'll do WPC later in the week. Instead, we'll eat in the food court and have a swim before hitting the hay early. lol!

If everything stays the way it is you should have comfortible high 70's - low 80's next week at WDW:woohoo: Be sure to pack a light jacket or sweatshirt since it cools down at night:woohoo:

Hope you have a GREAT trip:banana: and you let us know how it went:confused3

If there's anything your unsure of just ask:woohoo:

Now this was around the time of The Dis Dads Trip last year, the week after Thanksgiving was hot, UNTIL I was on the way:scared1: we got there Dec 5th and the temp dropped about 20 degrees (guess I left the freezer door open at work:lmao:) wore a jacket just about everyday:confused3, week after it was hot again:confused3 So I guess it's hit or miss on the temps:eek:

The crowd level was not bad (even with it being cheer week):woohoo:

Christmas was in full swing, a ton of stuff to do in little time (this was the main mission on our trip, I can help you with this stuff, we managed to hit almost everything :yay:)

I want to see as much as possible, but we have some limitations:

1). We will have my MIL, FIL,and SIL with us. One will be in a scooter and the other two do not walk very fast.

2). We are not doing the Christmas party.

3). We have four days in the parks and I have it planned like this:

Sun afternoon - Hollywood Studios
Mon - MK
Tues - Epcot
Wed - Epcot

We are staying at Kidani which is why we are skipping AK. This is a break from our normal pace, but Disney is about family and this may be the last time I can get the inlaws with us.

Any advice and help is always appreciated :thumbsup2

its funny dave, tammy and i talk about this. when its just the two of us, we get more done than when its the three of us. its not like we have to ever wait for briana, she does everything faster than we do but for some reason. it just takes longer. when we go with friends, there is 7 of us. we all walk on the faster side, we dont seem to have to wait for anyone but things take longer. im not complaining, i have a blast whoever is with us, but things will take longer to do. i would get up early everyday (like you normaly do :lmao:) and hit the parks at rope drop. i try to get to the parks atleast 30 min. before the parks open. (im more like 45 min.) i have no experience with a scooter but there are threads with prople who ride them and im sure you can get some good tips on going to the parks with a scooter from people who use them. im sure youll have a great time.:thumbsup2

Yeah - we locals will choke up the parks - :rotfl:

But seriously theduck why would you think many attractions would be closed? Its high season for Disney to entice all the holiday visitors so everything will be operational, only a few attractions are in line for major renovation - which they seem to avoid that time of year.

So make your plans, come see all the holiday decorations and rub shoulders with the locals. Enjoy!

I'm glad to see you planned ample time in Epcot, since you are not going to the Christmas Party at MK, there is alot to do here:confused3

Besides the reg shows each of the Countries do they also have Storytellers that will tell a story of that Countries Holiday Tradition:cool1: Be prepared to visit each Country 2-3 times depending how many different shows or events they are doing (US had 3 plus the reg shows:eek:)

Something you might consider that you and your FIL might enjoy (providing you both of you have hair:confused3) is the Harmony Barber Shop on your MK day, if you make a ressie for lets say noon:rolleyes1 (hint hint) The Dapper Dans may show while you are in the chairs and sing a few Christmas songs dressed in thier finest Festive Holiday Outfits:goodvibes

Thanks for all of the tips. One of things I forgot to mention is that we have to go back to the room everyday so most everyone can take a nap. I am trying to get DW to have us stay at the park and the rest of the family can meet up with us when they come back.

I don't think this will effect much since the shows are really spaced out and no matter where you are most likely the next show will be 3 countries over:scared1: So leaving for a nap is not going to hurt any, it might help:confused3 When it gets closer to your trip and show times are posted you will see what I'm talking about:eek: (unless they made some adjustments)

On our Dec trip I thought I planned ample time to get everything in the WS done, but found I had to add alot more hours:eek: All I can say is I'm glad things were going smooth, and was able to add a bunch of hours for Epcot, we ended up there at somepoint almost everyday to get more done:woohoo:

I'm glad to see you have 2 days planned for Epcot, even with leaving for naps you should be able to get it done:goodvibes

:cool1: 10 more days till Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Va. Holloween Adventure (Just me & wife:yay:)

I have never planned a trip in so little time 2 1/2 weeks is not nearly enough now I'm down to 8 day it is hard to be excited and scared all at the same time... I'm such an over planner.... There is next to nothing left for ADR's I have only two park day tours worked out and not nearly enough time between kids and life :)

Hi everyone! Just to give a brief update on my upcoming trip to DL. The hand is healed, but now I've got an 11 yr old greyhound that I figure had a stroke at the beginning of the month, and is on it's last leg so to speak. The right side of his body is wasting away and it's debatable whether he's going to last to the trip, or die while we are away (OH JOY!!). I'm more stressed out the dog than the trip at the moment, and am hoping he hangs on long enough for us to go on the trip.

Glad to hear your hand is better, sorry to hear about your greyhound:eek:

You really deserve this trip, I hope you have a GREAT time:banana:

It's really hit and miss if Dozer (the Dozer in BELLEDOZER, Belle was our first hound, and Dozer, the oversized puppy came along shortly afterwards) will last till the trip. It all depends on his mindset. There's very little muscle mass in his right shoulder now, and the rest of the right side's muscle mass is slowly going away from him. It sucks, but what can you do...he's just shy of his 11th birthday. He has a very strong will to live, unfortunately is body is giving out on him. I've made arrangements with our neighbour 2 doors down from us if things go bad for him while we are away, he will take care of things for us, and he knows that we will reimburse him for expenses. There's really nothing that we can do for him at this point other than make his last days the best that we can make for him. We intend to adopt another xracing greyhound to keep our other greyhound company. Just a matter of contacting the greyhound adoption group we have automatic preapproval for and making arrangements on giving another greyhound their forever home with us. Otherwise I'm over organized as usual, and now's it DH bugging me about what's booked and panicking in general this close to the trip. I'm coasting other than cleaning house until the last couple of days prior to the trip. The kids bags have been packed for weeks, other than hiding their fav stuffies in their carryons. I've just got to throw my large, heavy black zippered soft briefcase in the carryon, and that's about all the packing I've got left to do. Got to go and get a bunch of stuff today, and volunteer for the PAC food day at the kids school. Have a great day!
