Does anyone know how many people can be in the WDW parks at a time?

I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be touring the MK when it was at capacity!

Same here, but then again I don't know how near capacity it was when I have been there. The queues and attractions hold a lot of people. If those are full, I wonder if the rest of the park looks any different.

It would be cool if they had some kind of counter on Main Street.

Attendance numbers are a tightly held secret but when I was a CM the "ballpark" maximum capacity that the parks would reach before closing was:

Magic Kingdom: 70,000 guests
EPCOT Center: 70,000 guests
Disney-MGM Studios: 30,000 guests

(I left in 1993 so keep in mind that the Studios have expanded since then and Animal Kingdom wasn't open yet).

Trust me - you do NOT want to be in the parks when they are at capacity! It is miserably crowded everywhere.

I can't help but to wonder how much worse it gets. When I'm there many attractions use very little of the queue. We walk by numerous unused twists and turns that I'm sure are used when it's near capacity.

But no, I will not be there on Decmeber 25-31 to test my theory. Dec 23rd is as close as I'm willing to go, and the lines got long, but the rest was pretty much the same as any other Saturday.

These numbers are no longer accurate. I've been asked not to disclose the actual numbers, but they are rather higher than that now.

When we're close to capacity (and we have been for the last few days now), I look around at the crowds and ask: "How is this even remotely fun?" Seriously: How can anyone have fun when the shortest wait times are at over an hour, and it can take a half hour just to walk down Main Street USA?

I feel sorry for the folks that have to go during the most crowded times, for whatever reason. It can't be fun. :sad2:

Just be hapy you are not here this week. Very crowded is putting it lightly.

We usually avoid going when the crowds are heavy, but we drove a friend to the airport Monday afternoon and decided to swing over to Epcot for a bite to eat. It was certainly crowded, about the worst we've seen. There was absolutely no openings at any of the table service restaurants so we grabbed some fish and chips at the walk-up at the Rose and Crown (no line). The Christmas Day before last we went there and got seated at the Coral Reef and Biergarten with almost no wait. Epcot is big enough that you don't feel like a sardine when it's crowded and we don't bother with rides when there are lines, anyhow. We watched Iluminations with a young couple who said the Magic Kingdom was shoulder-to-shoulder.
