We have family in Orlando so whenever we go we usually only get to go to one park. Well in May we are going to the parks for 5 1/2 days. I need help with a budget. I will bring waters and snacks into the parks and a few PB sandwiches, we will eat breakfast before we get there. I think we will eat the sandwiches for lunch and eat an early supper, CS. We have one character meal, Askerhaus (sp?) for breakfast at 11:05 one day. Do you think $1,000.00 will cover our meals and souveniers and such? It will be me, DD19 and DD5.

That sounds like enough to me - I figure $20 per person per day for snacks/ CS meal and any extra at the end of the week can be used for souveniers.

If you don't go crazy with souvies...which I never suggest doing (there is really no need for it), you should be FINE!!! We do the DDP so not including food we never spend over $300 on tips/souvies/items not included on DDP. And our longest trip was 9 days.

thanks for the post and thanks tinkerbelle565 for the helpful info. I too was wondering if $1000 was gonna be enough for family of five (me dh dd5 ds3 ds1) for 7 days and on dining plan

Absolutely. We are only a family of 3 but with kiddos those ages...I wouldn't even point out the souvies. My DD never realized when she was little that anything was for sale in the shops. She just thought it was part of the scenery :rotfl2: Even now, at 6, she takes her own spending money and if she wants something in the stores...SHE buys it. Tends to make her pretty cheap ;) Last trip the only thing she bought was a Pick a Pearl in Japan

If you inclined to drink adult beverages (we typically have a drink with dinner) they are about $10/each so that can add up if you want to have several.

One suggestion to help stretch your money is to share snacks and drinks. Alot portions are pretty big and would easily cover 2 people, maybe 3.
Sodas can be split too, especially if you buy the bottles. But, your budget looks like it would be enough. You can check out the Disney outlet and you might get some souvies a little cheaper. It can be hit or miss and 'older' items, but sometimes the deals are great!

I have always told my kids that they have x amount of dollars for a souvie and when they spend that..that is it. I always do all of my shopping at DTD in the big store and that way, everything is before me and I can change my mind serveral times before I check out:) Have a magical trip:)
