Rumor has it that there is going to be an Incredibles ride where Carousel of Progress is right now, and a Monsters, Inc. ride or attraction where the TimeKeeper used to be...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I heard this from the guy who took our luggage to our car yesterday. :rotfl: Can anyone confirm these or has anyone heard anything? Or other comments?

These are the new rides that are coming in for the new celebration at WDW.

(from allearsnet.com)
• "The Seas with Nemo & Friends" at Epcot -- Nemo is lost -- again -- and guests aboard "clam-mobiles" join his friends to search one of the world's largest saltwater aquariums for the playful clownfish in a stunning display of new entertainment technology inspired by Disney-Pixar's "Finding Nemo." (Late 2006)

• "Finding Nemo-The Musical" at Disney's Animal Kingdom -- Also inspired by Disney-Pixar's "Finding Nemo," the Great Barrier Reef comes to colorful life in an all-new musical filled with spectacular scenery, elaborate puppetry and music by a Tony-Award-winning composer. (Late 2006)

• The Laugh Floor Comedy Club at Magic Kingdom -- Guests find the power of laughter in an engaging and interactive new adventure inspired by Disney-Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." as they match wits with the one-eyed hero Mike Wazowski and his friends. (Early 2007)

The Monsters Inc thing is obviously true but the CoP thing I'm not sure I buy at this point. It would be taking out a historical attraction (one I never go on, but). Of course I recall a bus driver telling me once that the Sports Theme Park was going next to the Wide World of Sports and a monorail was to be built thru the middle of the Dolphin and Swan buildings so.....

I do think it is only a matter of time before the CoP is history, and only a matter of time before The Incredibles shows up at a park, but they are not happening at the same time.

Also, I had a cab driver tell me once that more people went to Universal then Disney World

You think they would get rid of CoP. Don't get me wrong, I could care less, but it seems the backlash on that decision would be major.

A "Laugh Floor Comedy Club" might fit well where Timekeeper is.

>>> Clam Mobiles to help find Nemo at Living Seas
Can you magine Carousel of Progress with Mr. Incredible sitting in an easy chair narrating about how he rode trolleys to the ice cream parlor in a skyscraper 6 stories high at the turn of the last century, and telling Dashiel not to look at dirty pitchers (sic) in the stereo scope?

As time goes on, the backlash will be less and less major as we get further and further away from what causes the backlash in the first place. I hope I am wrong, but it already is less and less popular. As we discussed before, I think it really should go to DL. It fits better in the "museum" motif, don't you think?

As I said, they could close it tomorrow and you won't hear a peep from me. But I think we'll have to wait awhile. It is already a museum piece.

I Love the COP.......please don't take it to DL. I just can't believe I'm the only one posting that feels this way. :confused3 You can go on thrill rides at 6 flags........Disney is different and COP is one of the things that sets them apart - history.

Heh, the imagineering blog has something about DL not being a museum right now, it's quite interesting:

CoP is one of my favorites... I'm always disappointed when it's not open. My grandma actually still has (and uses!) the goofy shaking exercise machine that's supposed to wiggle-off your fat. I love seeing it on the attraction!

You're not alone. The day CoP leaves the MK, will be a sad one indeed. Actually, come to think of it, MK is already my least favorite park in WDW. It's all commercial nonsence now. Tomorrowland is a loosely based Sci-Fi advertisement for the latest film that fits the genre.

Bleh. WWWD?

I'm not sure how you say Tomorrowland is more commercial than MGM or Future World?

If they do change CoP, I think they should play the synergy card and slap the "According To Jim" cast in there with the hockey game on the radio in spring and Jim drinking a beer, baseball in summer on the b&w set with Jim tapping a keg, golf on in the fall on the big screen and Jim hitting the Jack and ..

..oh he will get canceled so the winter scene will never have to be updated again.

;)

And CoP was also a big billboard for GE, so I am not sure why you would look past that and worry about Disney making attractions out of their own films, which is something they also have always done. WWWD? Well he built alot of attractions based on his films, so I think the problem doesn't lie there.

I have read people saying this a lot lately, and it's starting to get old. How many did he really build based on Disney films? I can think of only 8 - Snow White, Peter Pan, Cinderella's Carousel, Dumbo, Tea Party, 20,000 Leagues, Mr. Toad and the Treehouse. If you count the castle, that's 9. I suppose some will say Tom Sawyer's Island, but that's a stretch. (I'm not sure Disney ever even made a movie about Tom Sawyer.)

Many of those (the carousel, the tea party and Dumbo for instance) are relatively thin with regard to movie tie-in. I mean, it could have been spinning anythings (not to say I don't appreciate them for what they are.) Two of them are gone already. And I wouldn't think many would consider any of the lot an E attraction.

Let's draw a cutoff line at around 1980, and look at the attractions that were in the MK by then. Consider these attractions:
Jungle Cruise; "it's a small world"; Country Bear Jamboree; Hall of Presidents; Haunted Mansion; Walt Disney World Railroad; Skyway (now gone); Tomorrowland Speedway; If You Had Wings (now gone); Pirates of the Caribbean; StarJets (now Astro Orbiter); Space Mountain; Carousel of Progress; WEDway PeopleMover; Tiki Room; Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

That's 16 attractions, most of which are classics and still popular. If we were still getting attractions with the ratio of 1 of every 3 with movie tie-ins, I doubt there would be much complaining. That's not the case.

If we look at ALL the new attractions just in the MK since 1998, we have:
Buzz Lightyear; Tiki Room "Under New Management"; Pooh; Magic Carpets of Aladdin; Mickey's Philharmagic; Stitch's Great Escape. That's 6 for 6 with a movie tie-in. And I'm not convinced these movies are all destined to be called "classics", which most in the first list were.

I don't think anyone is saying they mind some movie tie-ins, they're just saying, let's get back to a better balance. Surely you can see that.

By the way, it's particularly annoying when, given that the MK is pretty much out of space, new attractions take over for old ones. And guess what - like Stitch and Tiki Room, they often take over non-movie themed attractions.
