WDW “Content Creators” Invading DLR

Your arguments are extremely weak which makes it hard to have a conversation. Besides, this thread is about a certain topic and you are in the minority for the opposite opinion. Perhaps this discussion isn’t meant for you at this juncture?

Reducing us to “old Karens” is pretty sophomoric. You’re attacking people in a thread where the topic is something you disagree with. That’s not a cool move nor a way to win people over to your side. We can air grievances here and commiserate and don’t need to have this argument. Perhaps that’s better subject matter for a new thread?
I mean your argument is I don't them....therefore they should not be able to film

They have broken no rules, you can just ignore their channels since you admitted in park you don't see them, and so I will call out it out as literally Karen Behavior. Unless they are literally affecting your trip I see no reason to try to ban them and to me thats a weak argument

This person is a You Tuber, check out the signature. Not saying he is disruptive or rude (I've never heard oh his channel), but that may be why.
Ah, that makes sense given his defensiveness. I long ago changed my DISboards settings to not display signature files, so I hadn't seen that.

Also, insulting people named Karen by using their name as an insult does not reflect well on the user. Talk about painting with a broad brush! (And no, my name isn't Karen.)

I typically spend 8-10 days in the parks every year and have yet to have a single negative experience with any YouTuber/Influencer/whatever. Never quite understood all the hate.
We spend about the same as you, perhaps a bit more and personally, I haven't had the experience others have had but I can have an opinion on a theoretical scenario of how I'd feel about it, if I did. I can even expand on it to include someone in line, filming or streaming and doing so in a way that captures my children in their feed. When I am taking pictures or video of our kids, I make efforts to not include other people's young kids in my video. I know I wouldn't want ours in their videos so I conclude the reverse is true.

There is a difference between a parent filming their child and catching people because its crowded vs someone doing it for monetary gain where the video will be seen by many more people than the video taken by a family for home enjoyment.

I have signature turned off but I just checked. Thank you.

Jerrod, you seem like a nice guy and you mean well. I am not sure you’re understanding the other side of things here. You’re young and possibly a little biased because you are a YouTuber and your generation looks at these things socially different from others.

Then please, do so

I've been asking for things that ruin the the experiences of the parks but then go on to say you've not even seen anyone filming before, but you just don't like there videos. So I would love to understand how something can be ruined when you've never see someone doing it and can just not watch the channels of people you don't like.

I think a lot of us have more issues with live streamers. I've had experiences when we've been trying to watch fireworks/parades and someone rudely pushed in front of us with their phone up in the air (blocking the view) and talking and saying hello to people on the stream, being obnoxious and loud - and you can see there are only about 15 people on the stream. Same on a few rides (Haunted Mansion comes to mind - and with the flash/light on). Most YouTubers I've seen in the parks have been respectful and stand off to the side to film and aren't speaking loudly. I appreciate that. My experience is mostly with WDW, not DL, but there are some rather obnoxious YouTubers who do not respect others (I'm looking at you Best Life & Beyond, JoJo, and Kyle Pallo - WDW based).

OMG, this I have seen! I can't be certain that person was streaming or on FaceTime but the flashlight on was super annoying as they were right behind us. We had picked a spot 90 minutes before the fireworks and we were fortunate to have a nice spot. They came and tried to edge my kids out of the way, I put a stop to that straight away and they then tried with a group of girls near to us. They shut that down just as quick but the person chose them to keep verbally abusing and trying to intimidate into letting her in front of them where this person would have had an unimpeded view. Initially I thought the light was retaliation but now you've got me rethinking back to that moment and the fact she was talking to people through the phone.

It can be easy to tell if it's streaming -sometimes. Look for hearts or other emoji's floating up the side of the screen. If you can see the bottom of the screen, it will look different from FaceTime. You will probably see text (comments) or a text box at the bottom. Live streaming is VERY annoying.

I think a lot of the negative response is based on what is happening at WDW. Disneyland is my home park and I don't recognize any of the names mentioned earlier in this thread. However, I notice that on the WDW side of this website, when new visitors ask questions, they are often told to find a blog or You Tube video to watch. :rolleyes1

I go to Disneyland several times a month. I try to go on the first day of new parades, shows and festivals as well as milestone days (ie. M&M birthday, Disney's 100th, D23 day). I see a lot of people with both big and small Disneyland social media accounts and have never had them interfere with my day. I often see the WDWNT people. I've never witnessed them being obtrusive or interfering with other guests' experiences.

The one group that I did have a problem with is Mice Chat. I was in line for the Fantasmic dining package seating on the first day Fantasmic returned (May 24). One person in their group stood in the front of the line for hours by themself. That day, guests (including content creators) lined up early. Everyone was respectful and there was a general feeling of excitement and anticipation. It was really fun to be in line with other fans. We thought that the person in the front of the line was there by herself. Then, just before they walked us down, a dozen or so people from Mice Chat jumped into line in front of everyone. Guests who had been waiting for hours were really upset. Mice Chat heard people shouting at them to go to the back of the line, but they ignored it. They were pompous, arrogant, entitled and disrespectful. :sad2:

That would irritate me. I have had that done to me at Universal Orlando. Parks should not allow that, everyone in the group should be present before moving up the line. It's one thing when a single person needs to join a group or got left behind or had to exit the line for the restroom and is returning but a group of 10+ is tantamount to gaming the system.

It was the first day back after being down for over a year. In general, DL was not prepared for crowd management that day.
That I can totally imagine. I will say, Disney parks handle lines, crowds and lightening/fastpass/express access much better than Universal.

I first read this thread before my February trip and I was slightly worried. But I didn’t experience anything from bloggers at DL. Honestly, some of the behaviors described on this thread are problem behaviors that could and do come from anyone*. That is, I’m sure there are rude bloggers just as there are rude guests in general. But I don’t think that is reflective of all bloggers in the same way that rude guests are not representative of all guests.
I mean that is kind of like if someone said that all Disney people are rude because someone encountered a rude Disney guest.

No one here has said that all--or even a majority of--vloggers are rude.

What is happening or what people assume is happening? It seems like a lot of people in this thread threw out hypotheticals followed by the admission that they had never personally witnessed it in the parks.

If we are going by social media Disneyland is full of people fighting and kids relieving themselves in the bushes.

Multiple people have said vloggers should be banned from the parks though.

Hypotheticals are a valid way to evaluate a future scenario and also a means to prevent one as well. I shouldn't wait until I'm faced with loud obnoxious people ruining my expensive vacation before voicing concern. The cost of the real vacation that is ruined because no one spoke up sooner won't be hypothetical money.

As it turns out, we did likely encounter one such idiot at MK, if she was live streaming or just using FaceTime is immaterial. The result was the same, she disrupted the enjoyment of everyone around her, especially with her phones flashlight on. Even worse when you imagine how effective that light was beyond just an irritant to those around her. What stargazer would use a light, if telescopes actually came with one, while looking at the night sky??? Only an idiot which is what that person was and whether she was a run of the mill idiot or a YouTube idiot matters not. Everyone around was telling her to shhh and to turn the light off. Did she? ---- nope. So upon reflection, a selfish idiot. Exactly how I'd describe anyone streaming and making video at the expense of those around.

See this is what some of us want clarification on

Are you saying ALL streaming no matter what is bad even if they are not ruining the experience? Or you mean if a streamer does what you just said cuts in line and is using lightening they should not be?

How can anyone possibly answer in absolutes like that? Trick question, the answer is simple. No one can.

What I can say, with absolute certainly, when fellow park guests around you are all asking that you stop, you are being disruptive and diminishing the enjoyment of others. Do you think you should then stop?
