WDW “Content Creators” Invading DLR

IMO, one of the most refreshing things about DLR is that we don’t have the “content creator” lice that have infested WDW. But recently, I’ve noticed they’re starting to invade DLR. For example, we went to the parks yesterday and experienced:

- while waiting over an hour for Space Mountain, the person behind me had a multi camera set-up and talked very loudly about the differences he was experiencing from the WDW version. He was answering questions, so I suspect it was some type of “live” event. The camera set-up and his loud voice was very distracting.

- while at California Adventure, a pair of teenage boys were conducting “street interviews.” They asked me my thoughts on TikTok shutting down, I ignored them, they shouted I was rude. (I’ve never used TikTok.)

- and my favorite, while watching Fantastic, the person next to me had a pair of cameras, one on a stick. He loudly narrated the differences between DHS and DL versions. He ended with the infamous “if you enjoyed the video, please click like and make sure you subscribe.” As if the rest of us weren’t trying to enjoy the show.

I really wish Disney would trespass these folks, but I guess all those social media videos help drive attendance.

It’s never been at the level of WDW, where thousands of people literally make a living off the parks. I’ve been to WDW where several well known creators drew huge crowds… quite frankly, I’ve never seen that at DLR.

DLR doesn’t have enough interest for creators to make videos that rack up enough views for them to make a living at it.

If these people, no matter which park, are being obnoxious with their voice narration I'd be tempted to speak quite loudly to my neighbor about the weather or such. Anything as long as their mike picks it up. :mic:

I was there yesterday and didn't see any I recognized as WDW bloggers. I saw one guy having his kids video him talking about some food item, presumably from one of the Lunar NY food booths. I also saw a 20-something gal with her dude at a table snapping photos of all the food items they got, then she was angrily "directing" him how to snap her photo. I was using the wall nearby as a spot to eat.

I do know that one of the worst of the WDW vloggers is headed to DLR this week, that is Kyle Pallo, grifter extraordinaire.

The Disneyland content creators are generally very respectful of guests.
Look out for these peaches...

They're currently trying to make money off the tragedies in Malibu. Really sick stuff.

What about this example made you think they were WDW content creators? Sure they're annoying, but there's nothing indicating they're from WDW.

Even so, with just a few examples, it doesn't sound like an "invasion" ...

Wow!! I'm so sorry to hear this. I HATE the social media takeovers and I refuse to watch the videos that negatively impact park goers. It's one thing to provide information but to take over the space, make spoiler comments, and diminish/ruin the experience for everyone around you is not ok. I really think Disney should make some rules that would at least tone it down several notches.

“Content creators” are everywhere these days but it’s never been the problem at DLR that it is at WDW. This is most likely because there are thousands of people living in the Orlando area — and many more aspiring to join them — who make their living off creating social media content from WDW.

It’s incredibly difficult to enjoy WDW without running into them. It’s worsened by the fact that many are celebrities in the WDW social media world and sometimes draw a crowd.

At DLR, they’ve been minor annoyances but it’s becoming more noticeable lately, especially as the Orlando-based WDW creators are visiting more often.

Whenever I come across an obnoxious vlogger (which isn't as often and rampant as the OP is claiming), I try to make a funny face behind them or put up some old fashioned bunny ears. One time I was behind a vlogger that was speaking so insanely loudly in the Haunted Mansion queue, telling his followers to like, comment and subscribe. I just commented loud enough for his mike to hear that I would like, comment and subscribe but some unruly loud spirit was getting in my way.........

There are MANY Disneyland content creators. I am one. I hope I never run into anyone as obnoxiously hateful as you.
I think you took this the wrong way. The OP is complaining about content creators that are obnoxious, which in this example they certainly were. I've seen content creators that I can ignore but it would be very hard not to be negatively impacted by the one in the OP's example, and I have to agree that I find that selfish and disrespectful to other guests.

You may be taking this too personally. If you're not a content creator who is so self-centered that you don't care about how your content creation is affecting other guests, then the OP wasn't talking about you. And you can't deny that those people exist, because they absolutely do.

That said, there are content creators I've seen in the parks who do their absolute best to not get in the way of other guests, or do things that would ruin someone else's Disney experience. If you're one of those, then this isn't about you at all, right?

The thing is.....most of these content creators are NOT making money. They are hoping too, but the vast majority of content is self serving garbage, poorly edited and horrible scripting..

What you're likely complaining about is all the people who fantasize about being that next YouTube sensation. Most of them will disappear into obscurity once they realize the work and expense of vlogging a Disney park.

It's like every kid who had a band in the 90's, most of them failed within months. Eventually it will burn through the and they will give up.
