Hi Guys

My girlfriend and i are going to be in WDW soon, she is from LA and i am from the UK, so going to Disney was always a wow thing for me as it was like 9 hours on a plane, far away from home etc etc. So i know i love Disneyland and all its magical...ness. Anyway she is far less excited, she sas she went to WDL loads when she was living in LA and also to universal in LA (or something similar) so she thinks shes done it all before. My question is this:

How can i persaude her that WDW is far more special than WDL, im spending like £3k on this trip and so i wanted her to be almost asphixiated with anticipation but its kind of a let down so far. any words of encouragement? :confused3

Well I haven't been to DisneyLand yet, and from so many people that I have heard from they say that DisneyWorld is better than DIsneyLand due to more rides and bigger parks... I am sure she is going to have a great time in the WORLD...

introduce her to the DIS - pick out a couple trip reports to let her get a feel for the magic. there are plenty on there that are kid-free, adult only trips.

I agree.

Walt Disney world is nothing like Disneyland. WDW there is soooo much more!

Start by letting her know how you will be able to spend time together. Take time out etc etc. Once she gets there the magic will work on its own!

My brothers weren't too excited to go to WDW the first time since they had been to DL. However, after we got to the parks, their tune changed quick! Now when I ask them where they rather go, they say WDW because they have EPCOT. :)

I hope you and your girlfriend have a wondeful time.

Hey guys thanks.

She wont come on the DIS, dunno why.

Just kills me to spend so much if shes not going to enjoy it, id rather goto marrakesh for a quater of the price, at least i know she wants to go there...

Objectively, Disneyland is a better park than the Magic Kingdom at WDW. It has more attractions, and some of the ones it shares are significantly better in DL (such as Pirates of the Carribean, which is about twice as long in DL as in MK).

However, Walt Disney World beats Disneyland Resort California hands-down on attractions, parks, restaurants, and the whole feel of being surrounded by Disney magic.

So, for someone very familiar with Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom may seem a bit of a disappointment. But if you focus on Epcot, Disney/MGM, and the Animal Kingdom, then perhaps throw in meals in some nice restaurants and even a bit of parasailing or horseback riding, I think any Disneylander would be happy and impressed.
