Hey everyone,
I'm just wondering - is it possible to apply for both the college program and the professional internship at the same time? My goal would be to do the PI, but I would love to the CP as well.
Yes. I did it and many others did as well. If you are offered a PI, you can then decline your CP and they will transfer the housing fee over for you, if you decide to live in the housing. If not, you just lose the $105. This is what usually happens since the PI takes a lot longer to hear back from than the CP.
Thanks guys! Would it be a problem to change from the CP to the PI? I would prefer to do the PI before the CP (just because it fits more with my field of study). Either way, I want to go down to Disney and work in either program. Would it be a problem to change the housing (from CP to PI) if I get it? Do you know how much the PI pays around? Or what work it involves? How hard is it to get into? Does it look poorly if you apply for both? How long does the PI last for? I would be interested in this in for January 2012.
I got my rejections from PI before I got my acceptance to the CP
Ok thanks for all the information! Does anyone know anything about the Education PIs?
I know they get the same basic benefits like theme park admission... I'm not so sure about the grocery giveaway. I know there are housing events available to interns that live at the Disney apartments.Do PIs have the same benefits as CPs (meaning a few free tickets, the grocery giveaway thing etc)?

Thank you all so much for all of the information!!! You made this so much easier!!!
Ariel864, thank you for the info! The YES program was EXACTLY what I am looking into! I know there are 2 options available for non-CPs - Disney Institute Facilitation Assistant and Disney Institute Program Assistant. Do you know anything about either of those? Good Luck on your PI and please keep me posted on how it is! I am really interested in it.
Kmg168, thanks for telling me all that information.
I've been reading that PIs don't get placed in the same complexes that PIs get- is this true?
If I apply and get in, I was hoping on living in the CP housing because of the transportation...(I don't have a car)
I'm pretty sure one of the screening questions they asked was about having reliable transportation. Management interns, by nature, are NOT permitted to live in onsite housing and, from what I understand, non-management PIs being placed in Patterson is on a lottery system, so you are not guaranteed housing. I don't know if that has changed in the last year, though, so maybe someone else can answer for certain.
Students interested in a Disney Professional Internship with Disney's Animal Programs must:

- Be able to complete the internship within 12 months of their graduation date
- Be fully available for the entire term of the internship, which could include working early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Be able to provide their own reliable transportation for the duration of the internship
