We are getting married in WDW in December and staying at the WL on our honeymoon. We have planned most of our ADR's and we have Artist's Point on our list, but it occurred to me that we did not put down WCC. I feel like we should try it, because it seems like something that must be experienced at least once and it's right in our hotel (and who knows when we will be able to afford to stay at the WL again lol!), but I'm not sure if it is worth going to.

The skillet looks like something we would enjoy-is that the only thing on the menu? The milkshakes look like a real treat. We don't mind that it will be loud-we like restaurants that have a fun themed atmosphere-we are definitely not the type who needs a romantic restaurant every night on our HM~we have lined up the HDDR, Biergarten, & Garden Grill, with a few romantic places mixed in. But (and please no flames when I say this:flower3:) we have a short fuse for misbehaved kids running around while we eat and I've heard that the staff encourage the kids to run around....not sure if that's true??:confused3 We certainly don't mind eating amongst children, we just mind eating amongst unruly or unstructured children. We also don't like being center of attention. We don't mind when a waiter jokes around with us (we've been to 50's PTC & have lucked out so far with waitresses who joke with us but haven't made a spectacle of us in front of all the people in our room), but we would feel really uncomfortable if a waiter made us stand up & do something silly.

Anyways, do you think WCC is worth us checking out? It's right in our hotel so I'm thinking we might be jealous that we did not eat there since it seems so fun!

Thanks!:goodvibes

We love WCC. It is DH's favorite place to eat as he loves the skillet.

That said, we went on our honeymoon there and it was the BEST restaurant in the way they treated us on that trip.

Yes you read right, out of 6 places (no signatures though) WCC treated us better as "honeymooners" than any other place.

The waitress made sure to get us an extra piece of chocolate cake to take back to the resort and split along with 2 glasses of champagne.
She also went and got the manager when we told her how thankful we were "someone" had finally acknowledged the fact we were on our honeymoon (as it was on every meal and this was day 5 of 7).
The manager came out chatted with us and few minutes, asked if he could do anything and we said no....they had been wonderful.

That night when we got back to our resort there was a message from the resort manager to come to the desk. It seems they had a call from another CM, telling them that we had been a bit ignored in the fact no one had made us feel special. So the resort manager had a balloon bouquet and 2 presents waiting for us. :cloud9:

All because the WCC manager made a call. It made our trip even more magical. So maybe I am a bit sentimental with WCC, but we love it, including the food!!

Have a blessed trip!!

The Skillet is awesome! If you are worried about the kids, ask to sit in the back room. It's a lot quieter but still fun.

Wow-what a wonderful story!!:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc Were you staying at the Wilderness Lodge as well? That stinks that no one else acknowledged your honeymoon, but it sounds like the folks at WCC really made up for it with such a special memory! Did you find the kids unruly there or am I envisioning the restaurant wrong?

Thank you. Can you still see and hear all the antics going on in the next room? What kinds of things do they do with the kids during the meal?

Definately can be a fun place, the level depends on the waiter/waitress you get. We do enjoy it from time to time when we visit WDW. I will say that the food can be hit or miss. However the atmosphere is worth the meal alone and would definately do it if staying at the WL.

Yes the staff sometimes encourages the kids to run around, but not in a crazy, disruptive way. In a totally fun and controlled way. Our children are 14 and 17 but they used to love the antics there when they were younger. Now they just make us all smile.

Have a Wonderful Honeymoon and Congratulations. :)

Firstly, and I truly don't say this as a flame because I agree with you fully, but you're likely going to have misbehaving kids around you at every restaurant. The worst kids we've seen were at Signatures, I suspect because they are bored silly and the parents are focusing on themselves, rather than their kids. Again, it's not a flame at all, because I am of the same opinion, but it is something for which you should prepare yourself.

On the subject at hand, WCC is the ONLY restaurant at WDW to which I will not return. I found the antics just stupid and tired, the service to be the opposite of what Nadjalu experienced, and the behavior of the servers was not at all endearing. More to the point, however, since I can put up with tired and silly antics, the larger problem was that the food was nearly inedible. Many people disagree with me and love WCC, so you should use your own judgment and give it a try if it appeals to you, but since you asked for opinions, I'm sharing mine.

Thank you for such an honest response! We've definitely been to restaurants in WDW with unruly kids, I just don't like when that behavior is encouraged....not my kind of fun. We have never eaten at a signature before, but I can completely see your point. Is the food really smoky tasting? Hmm...maybe we will skip it and try it another trip. Our HM is the week of Christmas so it's going to be crazy busy. I'm wondering if that type of atmosphere might be a little more nutty than we need after a crazy day in the parks....Do they do those antics during breakfast and lunch as well?

We were in the corner, behind a wall so we couldn't see the main room. You can kinda see in the picture below. The main room was on the other side of the pole on the left. (My son got in trouble for tensing a little girl in our party. He had to sing I'm a little teapot. It was so funny.

I think we had the only table that was out of view of the main area. It was a large table for 7. There was some smaller tables back there that I think had a good view but out of the way.

I didn't really want to eat here, but I figured my son would love it. You know they have unlimited milkshakes. In the end we all loved WCC.

It sometimes gets a bad rap.....but we LOVED it!!!! Food was awesome and service is a BLAST!! Can't wait to go back here!!!

We LOVED the WCC! We were seated in the back so not a lot of interruption at all. The food was YUMMY! We all got milkshakes...only my son got a refill :lmao: I have also heard friends talk about how wonderful the breakfast is also. It is served familly style instead of as a buffet.

If you don't want to be the center of attention while dinning here I would suggest finding a list of things that they will "pick" on you for like asking for katsup. That way you can steer clear of those, but enjoy when others do them.

We will be there at the same time. If you have never been during this time of the year be prepared for wall to wall people. But it is by far the most MAGICAL time of the year!

Thank you for the advice! Which resort are you staying at? Honestly, I've been to WDW during Christmas a ton of times.....but not since the late 80's when the crowds were MUCH different during that week!!! :scared1: We are well prepared for the crazy crowds-using Ridemax and having zero expectations except to make it to our ADR's and to be prepared that we may not see and do everything we usually do. We booked the honeymoon suite for the sole purpose of having a cozy place to escape to when the parks get too nutty!! So, we are planning to take in all of the sights and sounds and beauty of Christmas in WDW, but take the crowded parks with a grain of salt and with no expectations. We figured there is so much to do and see in WDW over the Christmas season, we should be able to get a taste of the parks, but also sneak away and relax and do other stuff. I read that the WL has carolers and also characters visiting their lobby on Christmas Eve/Day and I'm so excited about that!!

Still stuck on whether or not to do WCC, but I am enjoying hearing your comments and opinions! I do really like 50's PTC (which I'm guessing is similar in antics), but I also think I like it because our waitresses can typically feel us out pretty well and have managed to be funny and jokey, without totally embarrassing us.

The first time we went there I took my adult son and his then 8 y/o daughter. However I didn't tell them a thing about the restaurant other than it served southern type food. They didn't know a thing about the possible antics. When we were seated our waitress was in the middle of the room playing Red Rosy, Red Rosy with several little kids. Just as she plopped down in the floor she looked up, saw us, and yelled out that she'd be with us, when she got around to it. Just a few minutes later she came over, threw some straws across the table and rather rudely said, "What do you want?" My adult son looked at her like she was out of her mind and finally rather sheepishly said, "some menus?" She yelled at him, "What do you think I am a waitress?" Again rather sheepishly he said, "You're not?". After he finished his glass of soda I encouraged him to ask for a refill at which time she brought him out a HUGE glass of coke with a giant straw in it, glared at him in a ferocious manner and said, "You'd better drink every bit of it Coke Boy". The look on his face was priceless. When my grandaughter unsuspectingly asked for ketchup, we got the ketchup routine. When we were almost finished, she borrowed the empty chair from our table, stood on it, and told everyone of her tables to stand up as we had to sing for our supper. She lead us in the Hokey Pockey. I really didn't think my son would go for it, but he was the first one to leap out of his chair, almost knocking it over in the process. When I told him I was surprised, he said "Are you out of your mind? I'm scared not to, no telling what that crazy waitress might do if we don't".:rotfl: There was a couple of young ladies in their midtwenties who refused to do it. As soon as we got through singing and dancing, the waitress brought our chair back and then asked my grandaugher if her dad was married. My son started saying "oh no, oh no", and when my grandaughter informed her that her parents were divorced, she made my son and grandaughter take all the bottles of ketchup from our table to the table where the two young ladies were sitting, after encouraging my son to ask one of them out on a date. Since she didn't say anything else my son thought he was getting out easy, but just as he placed his bottles of ketchup down, the waitress screamed out at the top of lungs, "He's single young ladies, grab him, grab him now!".:rotfl: Oh yes, something else she did: I ordered the skillet, but my son and grandaughter did not. When my skillet came out, my grandaughter asked for my corn on the cob. I told her no, that you are not supposed to share the skillet with someone who didn't order it and I was afraid what our waitress might do. I didn't realize the waitress was walking right behind me when I said it. She stopped, glared at me, gave my grandaughter a hug, asked her if she liked corn on the cob,, then brought her out a saucer with three cobs of corn on it. She smiled at my grandaughter, told her to enjoy it, then glared at my son and said "Coke Boy you touch this little girl's corn and you'll be doing the dishes tonight with no hands, because I'll cut them both off". She also picked out three couples and made them have a kissing contest that we all had to judge.lol

A few months later I was planning a trip with my younger son and daughter-in-law. My grandaughter and older son were over at my house and both immediately said to take my other son and his wife 'to the restaurant with the crazy waitress".:rotfl: When I first booked it, I wasn't sure if my elder son would go for it or not as that sort of stuff is usually not his cup of tea, but they both loved it. Food was decent, but not great. I've eaten there several times since and sometimes we get the antics, sometimes we don't. It just depends on if the wait staff is into it or not. Our waitress that first time we went was the best we've ever had though. She was hilarious.

Thank you for the advice! Which resort are you staying at?

We are staying at the POP for the first time...unless we can get one of those mysterious pins ;) The WL is my all time favorite resort. It will be the resort we stay at without kids one day :rotfl:

I think you will have a wonderful time. The crowds don't get unbearable until around the 22 or so. As long as you get all the rides you want to before that and then just relax and enjoy you will be fine.

I hope you have a very relaxing and magical trip! :thumbsup2

No, we were staying at POP Century.

I couldn't believe that even LeCellier didn't acknowledge it. (but have found that in the times we have celebrated something there, they never have)

It did create a special memory. Really made an impact on that trip, even though we were 5 days into it.

And we did not find the kids unruly. Even during the stick horse races. Most kids seem a bit "taken a back" to be let out and doing those things, so they act a bit timid. Where else can you run ketchup to another table, or yell you need it?

We have sat in the main dining area as well as the little "corner" in the back. And I have to say as a couple we prefer the main area. It is a show all in it's own.

Have a great trip!!

We usually go every othere Disney trip....good food and lots of fun

Yes for the fun.
Big no for the food.

The only two restaurants on property where I have ever really disliked our food was this one, and San Angel.
Sorry to be the downer. It was fun.. but I hated the skillet.
Lots of people love it though so it's likely just a personal taste kind of thing:)

Heck I have kids and dont like misbehaved kids. Dont know anyone that does:headache:
I am a bit nervous about the antics which I didnt realize when we booked. I am less concerened about the kids as they wont be sitting at MY table but I am about the "fun" that ppl speak of. I didnt care got 50s because of it(plus food isnt so great.) I like fun, but a waitstaff throwing straws at me isnt fun. DH picked WCC for food selection.
its WDW packed with kids, you are going to be subjected to lots of misbehaved kids and even more misbehaved parents:rotfl:
